This is actually not beta-related at all, and isn't how LB should look on high DPI configurations. My guess is that somehow Windows is either stuck in between DPIs, or maybe you just changed DPIs and haven't signed off or rebooted yet? Windows is quirky when you change DPIs without signing out. Try signing out and back in or rebooting to see if you still have the issues.

I haven't heard from @t17fenics in quite some time, so I don't believe so at this point.

No-Intro / REDUMP .dat compatibility with LaunchBox Database
Jason Carr replied to Z3R0B4NG's topic in Features
I do very much appreciate the effort of adding no intro alternate names, as that will ultimately improve the search for others in the future. That said, it seems to be very rare as of current for a game not to be matched properly to the DB, so I don't consider it to be a priority for the moment, at least. For example, my N64 platform has 100% matched games, while only 5 of my 617 GameCube games weren't matched on initial import. I recognize that the accuracy does go down for hacks/prototypes/etc., but that's usually mostly because of them being missing from the games database. Eventually I can look to add the No-Intro names to the games database metadata (that is actually something that I had not previously considered doing), but it will likely be a while as I have a lot of other things that are higher up on the priority list. Still, thanks for the proposal; that is certainly a good idea. -
Ha, I'm turning into a broken record. I think something fishy is going on here; can you PM me your LaunchBox\Data folder?
-
Please PM me your Data folder, and I can troubleshoot, assuming it still happens after a restart?
-
Yes, it can. Probably the best way to do this would just be to use auto-populate playlists that search for values in the Region or Version fields, and place them underneath the platform. Have you seen this since? Are you able to replicate it at all? Remind me what your hardware is? I am interested to know how much performance is affected by the new stuff. Also, if you can zip up and PM me your LaunchBox\Data folder, I can do some performance testing to see if there's anything I can speed up. Keep in mind that new features almost always require more processing, and performance is often affected. I've already done some work to help with performance, but I may do some more to see how things can be improved.

Should be fixed for the next beta.
-
I'm pretty sure it's because these are just checked to show in the Root in the parents tab. I'm guessing you got this resolved though since the data you sent me doesn't have that issue (or maybe it's resolved on a subsequent page of this topic...)
-
@rexryan After looking at your data, it looks like everything is there and working properly. Did it just start working again after a restart?
-
Yeah, in the end, that's basically what happens. I won't hold off on a feature if I feel like it would be a big, exciting thing, regardless of votes. But unfortunately I can't immediately cater to every relatively unpopular request.
-
I will fix the DPI scaling issues guys, no worries. Just didn't notice it was an issue. I'll be back to development and back to this thread tomorrow morning to start fixing bugs and addressing issues here. Thanks for all the feedback.
-
I can't think of any fairer or better way to choose what features to work on than the most requested/most voted for features.
-
Hmm, can you zip up and PM me your LaunchBox\Data folder? Also, keep in mind that if you're creating something like Prototypes, it shouldn't be a Platform; it should be a playlist instead. Not sure if that has anything to do with the issues.
-
I can't say that's on the top of my priority list, but okay lol. I have to have at least the items that are checked visible/parents expanded so that it's not confusing, so I can't just always collapse everything.
-
I still don't know what this means. Are you referring to the sidebar or the Add/Edit Parents tabs?
-
Please be clear on whether you're referring to platforms, platform categories, or playlists. Also, a screenshot of your structure would be helpful.
-
Yeah, IPlatform.Category is now obsolete, because it did not support the new nesting. Instead you'll use the new Parent interfaces/classes/methods, but I need to update the documentation yet to include the new stuff. Basically, the only changes in Big Box are that the FiltersViewModels (including PlatformViewModels) will just stay on themselves while going through all the nested categories. GamesViewModels are mostly unchanged (though the FilterTitle property now returns the nested name for platforms/categories/playlists instead of the unique name). You probably have an orphaned category (see my post above). You can either revert to a backup or manually edit the Platforms.xml file to remove the orphaned <PlatformCategory> element.
-
Beta 2 is out now with fixes for the above issues: - Deleting things should no longer cause errors - Playlists and platforms should now show correctly in the root in Big Box (if you locate them there) The only known remaining issue regarding the new nested stuff is that if you delete a parent that has children, sometimes you can orphan the children. I'll probably fix this in a future beta just by throwing them in the root in that case. I also still need to modify the right-click menu in the sidebar.
-
The issue with beta 1 is that Parent objects are not deleted from the Parents.xml file when the associated Platforms, Platform Categories, or Playlists are deleted. You can fix the issue by manually modifying your Parents.xml file in your Data folder to remove all references to missing platforms, categories, or playlists. It should be relatively straightforward. Regardless, the next beta will fix it anyways.
-
This is possible in the platform categories lists by using playlists. However, we won't be modifying the Genre-based views to be nested for this release.
-
I'll do my best to fix this for the next beta. Support for this is planned.
-
Point #1 is a theme change; you're also using a custom theme. Request #2 is noted.
-
I have this fixed for the next beta, which should hopefully be out later today. Do you mean on the add/edit screens or in the sidebar? Let me know what has broken, as I'd rather not break anything and I can probably retro fit things to work. There will be some additions though. I'm probably not done with it yet though. Unfortunately, showing both games and platforms/categories/playlists in the same view would be a major change in Big Box, and would probably break all the themes, so it's not something that we're likely to do any time soon. The solution that I would recommend is to simply add an All Games playlist under the platform.
-
This does seem like a good add for the future. I think it might have been on a poll a while ago, and for some reason didn't get very votes. I could be wrong though. I've added it to my list of features to go on the next poll.
-
Alright, a whole lot of development went into this one. 8.8-beta-1 is released with the following: - Improvement: All playlist features are now available for free users instead of only for premium users - New Feature: Platform Categories, Platforms, and Playlists now have fully flexible nesting. Anything can be placed inside of anything else and nested multiple-levels deep in the Platform Categories view. Please bear in mind that due to the massive changes, this beta is a bit more involved, so backups are recommended. Extensive testing would be appreciated. Most things are ready to go for the nesting flexibility, but I do still plan to overhaul the right-click menu in the Platform Categories list in the LaunchBox side bar. As of current, it's a bit difficult to add new categories, playlists, and platforms. Currently, you can find an existing category or platform, and right-click on it and select Add to create a new one.
