  1. Glad to hear that it's much improved over the last release. Often times it is a priority issue that causes this kind of stuff. More often than not, when I fix performance issues in Big Box, it's just all about figuring out how to code in the priorities and the timing correctly. Big Box is vastly multi-threaded in order to keep performance smooth, which can make stuff like that complicated for sure.
  2. It may work with some trial and error on 2 gigs of RAM, but that's not something we can support at this point.
  3. Yeah, at some point, in order to get the best performance for users with typical machines, the bare minimum requirements are just going to have to increase.
  4. Okay, yeah, 2 gigs of RAM just isn't going to cut it. I'm surprised it's working at all, to be honest. I hope you can get it working, but I'm doubtful with that amount of RAM.
  5. I went back to test on my slower machines, and as best I can tell, any remaining stutters in the controller navigation are just due to performance issues in general with the hardware not being able to keep up. So that's not to say that there's not improvements that we can make, but I think the controller implementation specifically is probably as good as it's going to get.
  6. Anyone who still wants a download for the old version can email us at support@unbrokensoftware.com and we'll get it for you. Otherwise, most likely it's already available in your LaunchBox\Updates folder. The performance issues don't make a lot of sense to me, as like others have stated, performance is exponentially higher in .Next than it was in OG LB, pretty much across the board. So if performance is worse, then most likely there's something odd going on with the machine. One thing to check is any anti-virus or anti-malware programs as we've routinely seen some crappy ones cause issues (most notably as of late Malwarebytes). As always, we highly recommend sticking with Microsoft's Windows Defender as it does a plenty good enough job without being ridiculously intrusive. There's also significantly less RAM usage, because the entire RAM Cache is no longer needed. For those running out of memory, please let us know how much RAM you have in your system, and if you can open Task Manager to figure out how much RAM LaunchBox is using, that would be great. LaunchBox.Next has been battle-tested very well at this point. Of the last 5 users that I've helped troubleshoot stability or performance issues with it, all 5 of their issues were due to things like corrupted Windows installations and conflicting/intrusive anti-virus applications, so I suspect something like that is probably going on here as well. I will also note that the previous official version of LaunchBox did state, in the opening window of all things, that the next version would be completely getting rid of the OG interface. So really there should not have been any confusion, even if you don't follow us very closely. I will look into these issues: Thanks all.
  7. MAME is very complicated in that regard with lots of the files needing other files in the set in order to function. So unfortunately that's not easy to manage, and LaunchBox doesn't offer that option for that reason. There are custom smaller sets of MAME ROMs available, but you might have a hard time customizing your own set (though I'm sure it is possible).
  8. Hi Jair, there is actually a Documentation PDF file available that comes with LaunchBox. It should be LaunchBox\Themes\Documentation.pdf. It's pretty extensive but it might not be completely up to date.
  9. Yes, that does make sense; I thought about that. I'm not sure if it should be a priority to change, but I'll probably get to it at some point.
  10. Ah, the default background is shown because of the clear logo in the background. You can turn that off by disabling the clear logo image type in the background priorities.
  11. Hmm, seems I can't replicate it. I have a custom background in mine as well, and if a game doesn't have a background, it just reverts to the custom background. I might not be following though. What do you mean by the default background?
  12. Yes, the MAME.ini file should be in the MAME folder. Check to make sure LaunchBox is using the correct version of MAME? If it works outside of LaunchBox, then that's my only guess as to what might be going on.
  13. This is probably caused by MAME not being able to find the ROM. Check your MAME.ini file to make sure that the ROMs path is correct.
  14. Happy to give you a refund; just email us at support@unbrokensoftware.com. You were given the option to use the old version as long as you wished, but you had automatic updates enabled in the options. It's easy to turn off. I can also provide you with a link to the old version via the support email and you can downgrade if that's what you want. I wasn't aware of the controller issues you mention here but I will take a look. I will say that the number of people who have asked for a controller hotkey for random game selection is probably less than 10. Considering the number of users we have, there are many, many, many more common requests.
  15. I'm very confused by what you mean here. You don't use VisibleCount to change how many are actually displayed in the wheel; it's only used on the backend to define how many need rendered at any one time. If you're looking to make the wheels smaller or larger or have more or less items displayed, it's the Camera properties that you need to adjust.
  16. No need to apologize! So much appreciated.
  17. One thing I've noticed to keep in mind: the Background Fade option will adjust how dark or light the background is for you. I love that.
  18. @Grila I already much prefer this theme to the default one that I built, so much appreciated. I don't think even I can go back to the default theme at this point. Unfortunately I'm noticing though that the BackgroundOpacity property is now affecting the entire boxes and not just the backgrounds; I guess we should have seen that coming. Hit me up and we can brainstorm a solution. The only other minor gripe I have is that there's no way to access the main menu, so there's no way to access the Help menu, which is relatively important. Or am I just missing it?
    Awwww yeahhhhh. Loving it @Grila!
  19. The first beta for 8.7 has been released. It's not an overly exciting beta; obviously more interesting stuff is coming. Here's what we have so far: - Improvement: Swapped out the default Racing Games clear logo with a new one that is easier to see thanks to @letstalkaboutdune - Improvement: Added a new BackgroundOpacity property to the LaunchBox BoxItemViewModel, primarily for @Grila's new LaunchBox custom theme
  20. Killer. I have the code ready for that new property; I just have to package up the beta. So that is coming soon as well. I can't wait to play with that theme!
