  1. So, back to the name. I'm leaning towards selfishly just running with Big Box Mode, mostly because I think it's the most obvious. Would anyone be horribly offended? ;)
  2. They're improving! :) @bd00, I only planned on including one image per platform by default with LaunchBox. I'd have to add extra logic to allow users to choose between Euro and US versions. We probably won't have that for 5.0, but of course users could still download the other versions from this thread.
  3. Calm, collected, and cool. Calm, collected, and cool.
  4. Sure, I can see that. I'm gonna stick with "banners" though I think just because it fits with what we've already got.
  5. Hehehehehe. I'm thinking of replacing it with something still meaningful but with some humor, ideally related to gaming. I love the concept of using bad English from old games lol, that's perfect. http://www.11points.com/Games/11_Worst_Japanese-To-English_Translations_In_Nintendo_History I'm really liking #9 from this page lol. "You have accomplished the mission. You are the very prevailer that protect right and justice. The following gamers express their sincere thanks to you. Take good rest!" Hehehehehehe. Hehehehehehehehehe.
  6. Thanks for the update @Viremaster. Do keep up us updated if you get it solved or still have the issue. :)
  7. Hi @happybandit, welcome. Unfortunately you'll have to know where the game is in order to be able to do anything. So you'll have to find the game first. Once you find the game, it should be easy to edit the game in LaunchBox, tell it to Use ScummVM, tell it what game it is, and then point it to the folder. ScummVM should be easy to get going once you find the game.
  8. Thanks, @scree. Trying to get them updated in the app, but tinypic is just showing an empty space where the image should be. Can anyone else see them? Is it my ad blocker maybe?
  9. Yeah, truth. I have some custom alphabetization in place to handle game order better, but it sometimes gets in the way. I have an item on my list to allow customization of that.
  10. Ha, that's awesome @DOS76. I haven't used a real joystick in years. I spent so many hours on the original Atari 2600 one. Cheers indeed guys. :)
  11. Very cool, @Hippyshake. Some great ideas for when we get to implementing other types of media. I hadn't thought about streaming media services like that. @bd00, I am hoping that by the actual release of 5.0, we'll have both "banners" (what I'm calling the graphics you created) and "clear logos" for most, if not all of the platforms that were in the list. I'm planning for it to be configurable, but I think by default we'll use your banners in the list of platforms, and the clear logos on top of the list of games. It feels best that way, so far.
  12. So I took a break from theater development tonight to build the upcoming Platform backend: This will allow you to specify any number of Banners, Clear Logos, Device Images, and/or Fanart for all of your platforms. Of course, the images we've been working on (mostly from bd) will be included by default. I've also started working on a handful of clear logos that are shown like this in the app: Of course there's lots of metadata too.
  13. Interesting. I'm unable to replicate with 4.9. It might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the .NET Framework 2.0/3.5. That could explain the issues with unrelated programs.
  14. That one's boring. What should we change it to?
  15. Thanks again guys. @Hippyshake, I have to say my own motivations are most often selfish, myself; I enjoy this just as much or more than anyone else. Really glad you guys are around.
  16. Thanks @Hippyshake, that's where I stand right now as well. I feel like Big Box Mode is the most clear and obvious in that regard.
  17. Hmm, odd. I don't have IE 9 so I can't test it; running IE 11 on all my machines. It's probably a glitch with the forums software; unfortunately there's not a lot I can do about it. I do have to say I would recommend using Chrome or Firefox, just in general, to avoid malware and such, but I understand that everyone has their preference. :)
  18. Woot woot. Thanks for the encouragement, Kriven.
  19. Hi Viremaster, thanks for the report. What all are you checking in the wizard? Can you walk us through the process with everything you do?
  20. @SentaiBrad @bd00 @Hippyshake @Maddoc1007 @CadetStimpy @scree @CliveBarker @DOS76 @Kriven I just want to say thank you to all you guys for all your support with this project. You guys are the core of this community, and I'm blown away on a daily basis by the sheer amount of effort that you all put in. Your feedback, help on the forums, and general support has proven invaluable time and time again. LaunchBox would not be anywhere near what it is without you guys in particular. So for that I want to extend my sincere thanks. I'm sending you all $20 Amazon gift cards; I know it's not much but I hope it's enough to show you guys that I really do appreciate everything you do. Thanks, Jason
  21. Yeah, agreed. Great names, @ChrisDude and @DOS76. I think at this point, I've made the decision to simply call LaunchBox "LaunchBox". That's it. I'm not looking to rename it or come up with an entirely new name to use for the large mode. However, here's what we do need. We need a name to use to put on the button, and a name to use to put on the second EXE file that runs the home theater view. The button I'm thinking would be "(something) Mode", but "(something) View" probably works as well. I keep running back to "Big Box" mostly because it works well to put "Big Box Mode" on a button, and it also works well to have "LaunchBox.exe" and "BigBox.exe" as the EXE file names. Then we could use "Big Box Mode" and "Desktop Mode" and still call the entire app LaunchBox. So, going forward, let's limit name discussion to only names that would work well on a "Mode" or "View" button, and as the EXE name, and assume that the entire app will continue to be called LaunchBox. Thanks for the discussion guys, and all the great ideas. Sorry to keep redirecting everything, but that's why community discussion is so valuable; it really helps to identify all the possible options and focus on the best solution. Who's got ideas or wants to vote on a name that works for the "(something) Mode" or "(something) View" scenario? :)
  22. Yeah, for sure; I have no intention of ever changing or replacing the name "LaunchBox". Per our names discussion, though, at this point I'm more looking for what to put on the change mode button than anything else.
  23. scree said Also regarding the Upload Attachments, I can get nothing to happen in the Select Files/Add Files window region. Are you clicking the "Add Files" button? I know my tendency sometimes is to click the big plus icon, which unfortunately doesn't do anything. Sort of a bad design.
