  1. Hippyshake said I'm in a retro mood lately, thanks to FFVII. I bought it through the EA website in July 2013 but horrible support and an inability to log in (because you can only play if you're connected to the Internet, despite it originally being a PSX game) left me unable to play it until last month, when I was FINALLY able to get it sorted. That is infuriating. Been there recently with GTA V...they were apparently in the middle of upgrading/changing their website, and didn't think about the fact some people might not be able to log in to the game. I got an idea! Let's be like all the game developers and make LaunchBox require an active Internet connection!
  2. bd000 said Ha, I find one exhausting never mind two or even three. I am one of four and I have no idea how my Mum coped with us. There is only 5 years between us all as well. Imagine 4 kids 5yo and under! Must have been utter chaos!! Oh man, I wouldn't survive. I'm already at risk lol.
  3. Hippyshake said Also, there seems to be a game missing on shelf 2. Hmmm. Sorry, I "borrowed" it. ;) Wow, nice collection, btw.
  4. bd000 said I envy you guys, I just can't do it. Granted, I might not collect everything and I might rush it, but I have to play the story through to the finish. If I try put it back on the shelf, it doesn't stay there long because I just get the urge to "put it to bed" like I need closure or something. It is weird and probably means I am a tad mad, but I like to believe that a dash of madness is not such a bad thing. That's what I tell myself anyway. Maybe I'm stark raving looney and just don't know it! Funny, I envy you lol. Would be nice if I completed more games, that's for sure.
  5. I see, yeah, the best thing to do for LaunchBox would be to crop the image to only the top half. LaunchBox currently centers the image, and chops off what doesn't fit aspect-ratio-wise. Otherwise, we'd have black bars on the sides. I do see some possible customization options for that though...good find. :)
  6. Indeed, agreed. If we stopped improving technology because it *could* be used with bad intentions, we wouldn't be able to make any progress at all.
  7. @bd000, I just didn't want it to go to you or @SentaiBrad's head. ;) @CliveBarker Disney will destroy us all eventually.
  8. Okay, well, hmm. Can you upload your LaunchBox.xml file here?
  9. Thanks Martin, yeah, Windows apps leave crap all over the place. The old Steam import only looks specifically at a series of app manifest files in the SteamApps folder, though, so that's unrelated.
  10. Ah, very cool, Kriven. Yes, the custom database opens up *so many* great possibilities. I also really like your drop down on the top, that's a great idea. We'll get there eventually. :)
  11. Hi AFaustini, welcome. Per #1, for sure, I'll get this added. Per #2 and 3, that raises a good point; how can we customize the sort order on custom fields, hmm. I have to limit the number of fields we add to the main interface because I don't want to make it too bloated. That said, we do need a decent solution to the custom sorting thing. I'll add that to my list. :)
  12. Lol, yeah, it did use the app manifest files. I'm not exactly sure how Steam handles it all, but I do know that I've seen app manifest files that exist when the game has never been installed, and also app manifest files for games that have been removed. I'm guessing certain things trigger the file to be created, and it's not just having the game installed. I'm not 100% sure on whether the files are ever removed if the game is uninstalled.
  13. Hehehe, yup. Just don't believe people when they tell you three is just as easy as two.
  14. Eek. That is insane. But I want one. I'm not so afraid of robots becoming over-powerful or turning on us (actually, I think the concept of a robot that truly makes its own decisions is ridiculous). I'm more worried about humans being idiots and using them for terrible, terrible things.
  15. Very nice, GameCollector. Also great to see somebody using that shiny new Spanish translation. :) I play a *lot* more games than I finish myself. I blame it on the game's quality, but I have to admit that's not always the case. I'll often play through an entire game and collect everything if the game holds my attention, but unfortunately a lot of them don't. Too bad I've already paid for them at that point. ;)
  16. Alright, I put out a new beta already. @Hippyshake, I'm hoping it solves your error, so you should see results again. I think what happened in John's case is I stupidly made a last-ditch change to look up to the parent folder another level when looking for GOG game shortcuts, and didn't check to make sure that folder actually existed (heh). So I'm hoping that's fixed now. Per Clive's issue, yeah, that's a completely separate issue. That one's more frustrating too, because I'm not sure there's anything I can do about it. From what I can tell though, it doesn't appear to be a typical situation. Still, I have no idea why Windows has his Start menu with those permissions. Does anyone else have Windows 7? Let me know if you see any more errors. It's also helpful to list the games you have in your Start menu that are missing from the list, and games that show up that aren't games. Thanks folks. :)
  17. Nice! Good discoveries guys. @Hippyshake, I'm sure I can fix that issue. I'll have a new beta out sometime tonight. :)
  18. His name is "Generic Chirping and Beeping Robot". Please don't sue us, Mr. Lucas. ;)
  19. Alright guys, I put out a new beta version. In Clive's case, the issue was that for some reason Windows is telling LaunchBox that he doesn't have access to his Start menu folders, which I don't understand. Why wouldn't a user have read access to their own Start menu? Anyways, I've changed it to at least handle that situation gracefully. I'm curious how this latest version works for everyone. Also, feel free to try the LaunchBoxTroubleshootingBuild2 release above and send me the ImportLog.txt file; that may help as well. Thanks again, folks. Bed time for me finally.
  20. Oh man, you're a better Dad than I am. That crosses the line lol.
  21. Lolololol...my two youngest are girls, so I have that coming. ;)
  22. Try this one instead now guys: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q1ni7ov0t2uarfh/LaunchBoxTroubleshootingBuild2.exe?dl=0
  23. I talked to Clive over IM, it's instantaneous for him, which means it's not even getting to the point where it's searching for games. So that's really telling, that's good. Is it instant for everyone else? Meaning, no time on the waiting screen?
  24. Hahahaha, yup. No kidding. My son is *BIG* into anything Sonic...to the point of it being ridiculous (think I already mentioned at one point). So anything Sonic is what I've really become sick of. Yeah, GTA V is pretty incredible, but of course the only time I can play it is when I should be sleeping.
