  1. Yeah, thankfully, Windows doesn't prompt with it on automatic upgrades. It only happens when you download it via a web browser and then run the setup, I think.
  2. We have a winner. I'll change it for the next version. :)
  3. Great ideas, guys. @bd000, the wall I hit had to do with aesthetics/placement. I'm pleased though because I think we have that solved, at least for the alpha, thanks to you guys. One issue I'm seeing is that the fonts are still too small for the living room (I did a test last night). So we're still trying to fit a bit too much on the screen there. I do like the concept of using icons/graphics to help with that (and I love your ESRB idea Kriven). I've had plans to add those family features for ages, so that makes a lot of sense to add soon, indeed. Game music is easy, btw, I already have that added. :) How did you guys envision that side letter thing? Always visible, or only when you go left? Would it be enough to gradually scroll really fast and pop up the current letter big on the screen?
  4. Yeah, unfortunately though it comes back after every update. I haven't done enough testing to see if it really is going away. Does anyone know for sure?
  5. Been a pretty productive night tonight. :) After experimenting with the menu items on the right, it ended up working a lot better with them on the left, simply hiding the list of games. Which I think makes the most sense anyways, as we're drilling into a particular game. I'm excited though; I think it's looking really nice...and you can actually use it to play your games now! ;) If we're really lucky, I might have the first alpha ready in the next few days.
  6. Good job ol2ec, and welcome. :) Yes, the tab is as you would expect, but yup, some games are pretty picky. Glad you got it working.
  7. Lol, what's the point of that? Those scientists must've spent most of their time organizing their game collections. ;)
  8. I have to admit I'm a little jealous, Stimpy, I bet you've seen a ton of really cool technology develop over the years. Always wished I could have seen the initial stages of video games, especially.
  9. Hehehehehe. Yeah, Windows started doing that in Windows 8. You know, I *could* fork over a lot of money to Microsoft to make that go away...
  10. Thanks guys. It's not quite that simple though, unfortunately, since it's not for all non-Steam games. Oh well, I'm hoping "installed into Windows" is straightforward enough.
  11. Wow, awesome mockups bd. This is exactly why I came to you guys for ideas. I hit a wall, but the wall is coming down. :) I'm gonna at least try running with every idea you have here, bd. Except I probably won't try and tackle the letters on the left right away. We'll see how it all goes. Of course, I'm more than interested in any other ideas as well, from anyone.
  12. Thanks for the offer Faustini! @jh0nnyrosa want some help?
  13. Hahahaha, great names guys. Seriously great names. Now this is harder than ever. :P My favorites thus far: LaunchBox Couch LaunchBox Nucleus LaunchBox XL LaunchBox BigBox (really like the play on words with MS-DOS "big boxes") I'm having a hard time getting over LaunchBox BigBox actually. We could call it "Big Box mode" or just "Big Box" even. Thoughts? More names? :D :D :D
  14. Lol. I want other people's ideas too though.
  15. Might be worth a shot, but unfortunately it's not likely to solve the problem, because the game is looking for the CD.
  16. Maddoc1007 said Another way to do it would be develop both side by side, keep adding features to present Launchbox and call the alpha Launchbox pro, then time will tell which one is favoured most and give you a lot more breathing room in the development of them. That is somewhat the plan, though the home theater view will be part of the premium version. I'm also trying to come up with what to name it other than "home theater view" or "home theater mode". Though I don't really want to call it pro, because that's not really what it is, being so far behind the development of the desktop version.
  17. @CliveBarker, the nested screen icon thing you describe is certainly possible. For the alpha I'm modeling something closer to Emulation Station, but it certainly doesn't have to end up like that. There's a lot I don't like about Steam Big Picture mode, but I do like the grid of games in your screenshot, and the fluid interface is nice, for sure.
  18. Maddoc1007 said Will this addition be part of Launchbox or a seperate launcher, if part of Launchbox have to say it does look fantastic and will it also have the feature for films music or just games? Hi Maddoc, it will be a separate EXE, but you'll be able to switch back and forth between the LaunchBox desktop and the home theater view. At least for the first however many versions, the home theater view will be read only (you'll have to edit games in desktop mode, sans for simple things like favorites, maybe). Unfortunately films, music, and other types of media will have to wait for a long while yet.
  19. Thanks, @DOS76. Do speak up if you have any ideas/recommendations.
  20. I think I just fixed the file attachment download issue, at least.
  21. Yup, we got them. Apparently there's an issue there though, stupid thing lets people upload but not download...the heck? Anyways, I don't see any inherent issues with the configuration. So, apparently it's a game-specific issue. You can enable DOSBox debugging so you can see all the commands and such in DOSBox, that might help. That way you can check to make sure that the CD is actually mounted. You could also try using a different drive letter for the mount. But if the CD is mounted and the game refuses to identify it, then it could be that the game has some form of copy protection, it's looking in the wrong drive, etc. Unfortunately though, since I don't have that game, I can't really do any troubleshooting myself, so I'm not sure how else to help you out.
  22. Yes, I'm self aware of my superior ability to...eat. I'm really hungry right now.
  23. Lolololol, wow. That's crazy. A 10 year old with a drone!? I thought I was doing well for myself... ;)
