  1. Yeah, for sure; I have no intention of ever changing or replacing the name "LaunchBox". Per our names discussion, though, at this point I'm more looking for what to put on the change mode button than anything else.
  2. scree said Also regarding the Upload Attachments, I can get nothing to happen in the Select Files/Add Files window region. Are you clicking the "Add Files" button? I know my tendency sometimes is to click the big plus icon, which unfortunately doesn't do anything. Sort of a bad design.
  3. Very cool Kriven. This is extremely long-term, but I'm thinking eventually we could put a drop down at the top of the side bar for the type of media (Games, Platforms, Books, Movies, TV Shows, Music, etc.). And then have customized views and filtering for all of them.
  4. Very cool, bd. I like the concept a lot. Needs a bit of polish, of course, but that's a great concept, assuming we do stick with Big Box. (Could be another reason to just run with Big Box; I like having LaunchBox.exe and BigBox.exe too). Per the names, I originally called it LaunchBox Theater, but I don't really like that name because it's still too "home theater"-ish. And again, since we want to appeal to other things as well, such as game cabinets, I'd rather not head in that direction. Those are some great names, @scree! I am fond of LaunchBox Max, or even MaxBox. I like LaunchBox Game Room even more I think. What would we put on the button for those names though? Per the direction, this will be primarily for games (at least at first), with a heavy focus on easy control with a game controller. It's also worth noting that this is not planned to ever *replace* LaunchBox as it currently stands. I think the desktop interface is important to keep around, and re-implementing everything (like the wizards and such) in the new interface would be a tremendous time-sink. Not to mention I want to keep the new interface clean, primarily as a read-only mode. Eventually, I'll provide easy ways to switch to a game for editing in the desktop interface.
  5. Whoops, I sort of hijacked the other thread for name discussions: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/surprise-new-home-theater-alpha-coming-out-soon/page-4#p2915
  6. I hear you Hippyshake. I let both names sit in my brain for a few days, and I don't like Couch as much as I used to. Whatever we choose, I need to be able to put it on a button in LaunchBox and have it at least half-way make sense. I do think that a button with "Big Box Mode" on it does make decent sense, but I'm not so in love with it that I'm blind to other options. "Couch Mode" also makes sense but feels too weird/out there somehow, yeah. Unfortunately, I don't think LaunchBox Home would work because I can't put "Home Mode" on a button and have it make any sense. "Big Screen Mode" might work though. But then, I don't know about "LaunchBox Big Screen" being a good name for it. Other than that, I'm still open to other ideas. After review, I do like Martin's "LaunchBox Recliner" lol, but I'm afraid that it has too many connotations again. I think one of the reasons I don't like Couch, Recliner, etc. is that I see this being used for more than just a home theater environment. This could be used very well as the interface for a game cabinet, for example, much like Hyperspin is commonly used for. Hence why after thinking about it I kind of want to avoid "living room" connotations.
  7. Killer, guys. Looking great. I'll get them all into the app. :)
  8. Yeah, click the "Upload Attachments" button and just attach the images. It will put the image wherever you are in the post.
  9. So is "Couch Mode" aka "LaunchBox Couch" the running consensus? I'm still torn on it, personally.
  10. Lolololol. I was unaware that Big Box could have any alternate connotations. All the more reason to use it! Half kidding. @Maddoc1007 I do have an item on my to-do list to add an option to disable the auto-extract features, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
  11. Exciting for all of us I hope. Gonna take a couple more days I think on the alpha, but it will be slightly more polished than I originally envisioned. :)
  12. Very cool guys. Thanks a million bd, all look great. I agree that ideally everything should be uniform, but I recognize the difficulty of that between all the various platforms, so I figure I can't be too picky with that stuff for the initial default images. What are you guys using to work on these things? Photoshop? Perhaps we can share Photoshop PSD files so they can be easily modified/improved by the community?
  13. I had that thought as well, a good idea I think. Will do.
  14. All correct, bd. :) Can't wait to dive into these images... I'll update the platform list in a moment.
  15. I went ahead and created this thread... https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/new-launchbox-platform-image-collection-thread We can add threads for other types of images later on, but this should get us going for the platforms. :)
  16. Hey guys, @bd000 is contributing many platform images for use in the upcoming home theater view. Beyond that, we're looking for platform backgrounds and images for all platforms to be used as the default images in the app. If you have some to contribute, please feel free to post them here. :) Keep in mind that unfortunately we can't always just use other people's images found on the web, because we can't distribute them with LaunchBox. Feel free to still post them here for other people to use, but know that unless we have permission from the creator, or it's public domain, etc., we can't distribute the image with LaunchBox. Thanks guys! :)
  17. Great idea, good point. Hopefully I can get that going soon...been trying to put all my effort into this upcoming alpha. Can't wait to see the rest of your images, can you dump them here? :)
  18. Thank you bd, that's amazing. Didn't see your last comment earlier. Yeah, if you can give me whatever you have, I'll put them as the default images in the app. I'd like to at least include images for all/most of the platforms on TGDB, but obviously TGDB is not the standard for platforms that matter.
  19. Yeah, no question, they look great in the app. The aspect ratio is perfect too. Though I might want to re-think the background images.
  20. Anyone want to take the lead on that thread and start compiling images? In the mean time I'll see how bd's images with that aspect ratio look in the app. :)
  21. Holy crap! Nice, yeah, that's what we need. It'll be difficult to get those images going for every platform, but that's a great start.
  22. Sure, thanks bd. We need to finalize the name, first, of course. But we will want a very large logo, ultimately, I'd say at least 1,000 x 1,000 pixels. Ideally, the logo would be made in Illustrator or similar, using vector graphics. Per the format, it doesn't really matter. We are not changing the LaunchBox logo, but incorporating it will not be required. Also, keep in mind that the logo will need to scale well from large to relatively small.
  23. I started taking that route, because I'm not sure if we'll be able to find good images for all platforms, similar to the Wii image above. Definitely could use some help brainstorming what to do there. Like the clear logos? Hate them? Should we use a device image? Etc.
