  1. Interesting. I'm unable to replicate with 4.9. It might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the .NET Framework 2.0/3.5. That could explain the issues with unrelated programs.
  2. That one's boring. What should we change it to?
  3. Thanks again guys. @Hippyshake, I have to say my own motivations are most often selfish, myself; I enjoy this just as much or more than anyone else. Really glad you guys are around.
  4. Thanks @Hippyshake, that's where I stand right now as well. I feel like Big Box Mode is the most clear and obvious in that regard.
  5. Hmm, odd. I don't have IE 9 so I can't test it; running IE 11 on all my machines. It's probably a glitch with the forums software; unfortunately there's not a lot I can do about it. I do have to say I would recommend using Chrome or Firefox, just in general, to avoid malware and such, but I understand that everyone has their preference. :)
  6. Woot woot. Thanks for the encouragement, Kriven.
  7. Hi Viremaster, thanks for the report. What all are you checking in the wizard? Can you walk us through the process with everything you do?
  8. @SentaiBrad @bd00 @Hippyshake @Maddoc1007 @CadetStimpy @scree @CliveBarker @DOS76 @Kriven I just want to say thank you to all you guys for all your support with this project. You guys are the core of this community, and I'm blown away on a daily basis by the sheer amount of effort that you all put in. Your feedback, help on the forums, and general support has proven invaluable time and time again. LaunchBox would not be anywhere near what it is without you guys in particular. So for that I want to extend my sincere thanks. I'm sending you all $20 Amazon gift cards; I know it's not much but I hope it's enough to show you guys that I really do appreciate everything you do. Thanks, Jason
  9. Yeah, agreed. Great names, @ChrisDude and @DOS76. I think at this point, I've made the decision to simply call LaunchBox "LaunchBox". That's it. I'm not looking to rename it or come up with an entirely new name to use for the large mode. However, here's what we do need. We need a name to use to put on the button, and a name to use to put on the second EXE file that runs the home theater view. The button I'm thinking would be "(something) Mode", but "(something) View" probably works as well. I keep running back to "Big Box" mostly because it works well to put "Big Box Mode" on a button, and it also works well to have "LaunchBox.exe" and "BigBox.exe" as the EXE file names. Then we could use "Big Box Mode" and "Desktop Mode" and still call the entire app LaunchBox. So, going forward, let's limit name discussion to only names that would work well on a "Mode" or "View" button, and as the EXE name, and assume that the entire app will continue to be called LaunchBox. Thanks for the discussion guys, and all the great ideas. Sorry to keep redirecting everything, but that's why community discussion is so valuable; it really helps to identify all the possible options and focus on the best solution. Who's got ideas or wants to vote on a name that works for the "(something) Mode" or "(something) View" scenario? :)
  10. Yeah, for sure; I have no intention of ever changing or replacing the name "LaunchBox". Per our names discussion, though, at this point I'm more looking for what to put on the change mode button than anything else.
  11. scree said Also regarding the Upload Attachments, I can get nothing to happen in the Select Files/Add Files window region. Are you clicking the "Add Files" button? I know my tendency sometimes is to click the big plus icon, which unfortunately doesn't do anything. Sort of a bad design.
  12. Very cool Kriven. This is extremely long-term, but I'm thinking eventually we could put a drop down at the top of the side bar for the type of media (Games, Platforms, Books, Movies, TV Shows, Music, etc.). And then have customized views and filtering for all of them.
  13. Very cool, bd. I like the concept a lot. Needs a bit of polish, of course, but that's a great concept, assuming we do stick with Big Box. (Could be another reason to just run with Big Box; I like having LaunchBox.exe and BigBox.exe too). Per the names, I originally called it LaunchBox Theater, but I don't really like that name because it's still too "home theater"-ish. And again, since we want to appeal to other things as well, such as game cabinets, I'd rather not head in that direction. Those are some great names, @scree! I am fond of LaunchBox Max, or even MaxBox. I like LaunchBox Game Room even more I think. What would we put on the button for those names though? Per the direction, this will be primarily for games (at least at first), with a heavy focus on easy control with a game controller. It's also worth noting that this is not planned to ever *replace* LaunchBox as it currently stands. I think the desktop interface is important to keep around, and re-implementing everything (like the wizards and such) in the new interface would be a tremendous time-sink. Not to mention I want to keep the new interface clean, primarily as a read-only mode. Eventually, I'll provide easy ways to switch to a game for editing in the desktop interface.
  14. Whoops, I sort of hijacked the other thread for name discussions: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/features/surprise-new-home-theater-alpha-coming-out-soon/page-4#p2915
  15. I hear you Hippyshake. I let both names sit in my brain for a few days, and I don't like Couch as much as I used to. Whatever we choose, I need to be able to put it on a button in LaunchBox and have it at least half-way make sense. I do think that a button with "Big Box Mode" on it does make decent sense, but I'm not so in love with it that I'm blind to other options. "Couch Mode" also makes sense but feels too weird/out there somehow, yeah. Unfortunately, I don't think LaunchBox Home would work because I can't put "Home Mode" on a button and have it make any sense. "Big Screen Mode" might work though. But then, I don't know about "LaunchBox Big Screen" being a good name for it. Other than that, I'm still open to other ideas. After review, I do like Martin's "LaunchBox Recliner" lol, but I'm afraid that it has too many connotations again. I think one of the reasons I don't like Couch, Recliner, etc. is that I see this being used for more than just a home theater environment. This could be used very well as the interface for a game cabinet, for example, much like Hyperspin is commonly used for. Hence why after thinking about it I kind of want to avoid "living room" connotations.
  16. Killer, guys. Looking great. I'll get them all into the app. :)
  17. Yeah, click the "Upload Attachments" button and just attach the images. It will put the image wherever you are in the post.
  18. So is "Couch Mode" aka "LaunchBox Couch" the running consensus? I'm still torn on it, personally.
  19. Lolololol. I was unaware that Big Box could have any alternate connotations. All the more reason to use it! Half kidding. @Maddoc1007 I do have an item on my to-do list to add an option to disable the auto-extract features, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
  20. Exciting for all of us I hope. Gonna take a couple more days I think on the alpha, but it will be slightly more polished than I originally envisioned. :)
  21. Very cool guys. Thanks a million bd, all look great. I agree that ideally everything should be uniform, but I recognize the difficulty of that between all the various platforms, so I figure I can't be too picky with that stuff for the initial default images. What are you guys using to work on these things? Photoshop? Perhaps we can share Photoshop PSD files so they can be easily modified/improved by the community?
  22. I had that thought as well, a good idea I think. Will do.
  23. All correct, bd. :) Can't wait to dive into these images... I'll update the platform list in a moment.
