  1. How big is your library? In truth, there is probably more optimization that can be done but LaunchBox is extremely complicated. The first big slow down comes from Library size. The larger the library, especially on weaker systems, the slower it will move. If you've just added games and it is still caching this will decrease performance a lot as well. Scrolling through and waiting till caching is over would be a more apt test (if you even are at all). The Hard Drive LaunchBox is on can make a difference. SATA3, SSD's and USB3 Hard Drives performing the best. You can try turning your RAM Cache up to max or off, depending on the machine this can increase performance as well. Do you have any active scanning Software? AV Software that constantly sits and scans, RAM Monitoring software that actively cleans, or anything similar can also bring down performance more signifigantly than you would think. Those are just some more basic things a user can do though.

    Hi LaunchBox

Welcome! A next and previous box has been requested when you edit a game, and is on the BitBucket if you wanna vote for it. You can get to our BitBucket by clicking Send Feedback at the top. The list view being editable has also been requested, but don't forget there is also custom filters. Not exactly what you are asking for and a Premium Only feature, but it can help you organize a lot. When you use the Tools -> Download Metadata and Images option, it will ask you what all to download. I generally check everything and then you're left with 3 choices. The top choice will download and replace all metadata regardless, and this option (at least for now) is required to download new and fresh or updated metadata and media over what you currently have. The second option will only download metadata and media for a games field if it is missing something, so theoretically it would for example download games missing front box art if it exists at a later time. We currently have an image downloading bug with the way the image resutructuring has been going on in the Beta. We've added all of the LaunchBox Games Database image categories in to LaunchBox and are working on making the two talk with each other more coherently. If you cancel that download, it will ask you if you want to keep the media and metadata that LaunchBox has already downloaded, and you can start later. If you are doing an import you'll have to start the import process again as it won't have added games past the cancel point. If you re-import a folder that you already started on though, it will skip duplicates automatically. Jason does have a lot planned for the My Collection and the Database, but he is one Developer and we've got a lot to cover. Soon we'll allow a Tiered Image system to help fill in gaps, you'll be able to upload your media and metadata you have on a game to our Database if the game doesn't exist, and tons of other stuff. The BitBucket is a treasure trove if you sort by amount of votes. We do have plans to start working on some of the higher voted tickets, but more pressing things seem to keep coming up. As per your Sega issue, we do have tutorials on our YouTube channel if you'd like to go and take a look. You probably already know mostly everything, but they do seem to help LaunchBox newbies and I provide as much info as I have at the time of creating them. Click the link to our channel, which is in all of my signatures, or the Tutorials button at the top of the forums. A black screen like that in RetroArch can mean either bad rips of the games, bad BIOS, or wrong core choie (but the wrong core choice will generally just crash RetroArch instead). If you have a No-Intro set of your games, then it might be a BIOS situation if you are trying to play something like Sega CD. More info would help. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask, search the BitBucket or the forums. We have tons and tons of threads around!
  3. Yea I want to say that this is a RetroArch problem speifically, but I am unsure. There are some threads on the forums about CSO, WBFS, PBP and GCM. Just note some games don't like to be put in any container. The Grand Theft Auto games on PSP for example hate being in a CSO. I CSO'd all my PS2 games, and I had to re-get two of them that wouldn't boot from the CSO. Only two so far. That could have been a bad rip though and then I CSO'd the bad rip. I need to test the new rip. These formats aren't perfect, and sometimes Archiving will get you lower file sizes, but the decompression times can get to be a lot. I have pretty much all of my games not archived. The only thing in an active .rar or .7z file are my MAME and Arcade games that need to stay that way. Everything else is either uncompressed or in those custom formats. I also still need to do more PBP testing, I haven't PBP'd my entire library nor tested out the disc swapping as it combines multi disc games in to 1.
  4. No sharing links to where you can download roms please.
  5. Try updating. I've had RetroArch give me that in the past and updating fixed it for me. Also, make sure you're using the regular Mednafen PS1 core, and not the one with "hw" in the title. That one is very alpha. If you launch a game that is already unarchived does it give you the error? If you want to save some space, but not deal with unarchiving you can try putting your PS1 games in to a PBP format as well. The mednafen core reads these as well.
  6. I covered Dolphin and N64 stuff on our channel, and I talked a bit about the HD Pack stuff. Click the link in my signature to go to our channel or click tutorials at the top.
  7. I didn't delete it, I figured it was self explanitory. We can probably make the error code more friendly, or even allow non-TrueType font if Jason wants, but currently it's not usable.
  8. Some of the links also link to or reference other sites as well. http://biasedvideogamerblog.com/blog:n64-texture-enhancement-projects http://textures.emulation64.com/index.php?id=downloads http://www.racketboy.com/retro/nintendo/n64/enhance-n64-graphics-with-emulation-plugins-texture-packs http://www.emulation64.com/files/category/20/119/ http://www.emutalk.net/forums/110-N64-Textures There is also this: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-super-mario-64-hd-texture-pack-v1-1-2016-05-07 Not just texture packs for GameCube and Wii games, but the texture packs (even the existing ones can be applied apparently) to their Virtual Console release, and like that post said, Dolphin is superior. Emulation in emulation, ironic isn't it. That Texture Mod sub forum also leads to Texture mods for GameCube and Wii too.
  9. Try changing your Font to only a TrueType font.
  10. Yea this isn't normal. We think it might be coming from EmuMovies directly as some users report the song playing like that outside of LaunchBox as well. The best way to remove that song is to open the music folder in LaunchBox, then navigate to the system that has the offending sound. Find the game from the list and just delete it. There is no way to block that single game from not downloading unless you edit it and uncheck the boxes during download. The bulk downloader wont skip it though. We are also working on volume controls inside of LaunchBox, so when you come across this again (there are a few saddly), at least the volume will be lower. You can turn LB down from your Windows Volume Mixer if you'd like as a workaround. Welcome by the way and if you have more questions feel free to ask.
  11. PC Engine is TurboGrafx 16, PC Engine CD is TurboGrafx CD. If there is a default name in the drop down that's the bes possible scraping name.
  12. Currently no, but it has been requested on the BitBucket.
  13. No problem @dukeemu, thank you very much for your dedication! We do appreciate all the work you've put in to this.
  14. That's awesome! For the spacing, I didn't know if you had seen that scroll bar or not, it's easy to miss and even I forget it's existence sometimes.
  15. To be honest, no there hasn't. However, this is still one of the more voted on tickets on our BitBucket and we really need to get to it.
  16. On the Platforms them selves? Those are uneditable, and maybe for good? Jason nor I have talked about that one, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that one uneditable. What system? We can still post it for you if you'd like.
  17. We can see who's rejected over and over and over, or who acceps everything. If it becomes a problem (as far as I know we haven't had any more issues with users rejecting ME or JASON removing nudity), then we can certainly figure out who and we can take care of it by removing the moderator.
  18. Looking Good, I like your custom Console Clear Logo's. You should share upload the images to Mediafire or Dropbox or something (as an archive) or post the link to where you got them. For LaunchBox, you can either make your Game Details a lot larger or play with the sizes and spacing to fit more games in there. If you want incremental sizing, click on the pin in the bottom right slider, then use your arrow keys to go up and down 1 step at a time. Makes it easier to get your exact sizing.
  19. djweevil said Dear Jason. Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this. Do you have a work log ie what has been changed each beta? Also having a forum voting system for features might help to prioritize what features get added when. Thanks for your time. We also have the BitBucket where users can post bugs and feature requests and vote on them. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues?status=new&status=open Feature request at the top.
  20. kmoney2315 said I am not sure if this was introduced in the newest betas or not but I am trying to import Sega Model 2 into LB and put a checkmark in the Force MAME metadata box and it did not find any games. I even tried to trick it by importing the Sega Model 2 roms as Arcade platform then checked the Force MAME metadata box and it still did not find any games and yes all my files are named correctly. Yea that's currently a bug right now.
  21. The accented and special characters don't matter. They throw off the scraper unless the item it's scraping has the special e, but it doesn't effect launching.
  22. emko said it makes no sense why do many images named correct do not show up on launchbox yet when i redownload the same file it shows up? LEGO Harry Potter_ Years 5-7.jpg from before updateing to new folder location paths where Images\Nintendo Wii\Front\LEGO Harry Potter_ Years 5-7.jpg Images\Nintendo Wii\Box - Front/LEGO Harry Potter_ Years 5-7.jpg so i make launchbox grab the image from the database i get LEGO Harry Potter_ Years 5-7-01.jpg i delete it so i still have LEGO Harry Potter_ Years 5-7.jpg refresh images and its missing again what i have to do is delete the file and let launchbox download it but why? and why for random games only most worked correct. is launchbox storing image names in a local database or in the xml? and the image downloader does not understand i already have all the images, before this beta if i have the image the checkbox would be unchecked. it seems to only effect box - front, every other image type works fine at least i think they do. Emko, we recently updated the Image system and all of the folders names will have probably changed, so now LaunchBox is looking in a new location. You have the image, but LaunchBox is no longer looking there anywhere. I'm not saying this is perfect, you posted an error code you had found so clearly we're not completely bug free, but the best solution is to either re-download all of your media (What I am doing and this what I suggest), or remove the images for that game, re-download for the effected games and let it be. If the navigation sounds aren't playing, have you removed the sounf effect files or turned off the sounds? Also, if you are in BigBox, the LaunchBox.xml is still in use, but it is odd that it errored you out in the middle of using BigBox, that is certainly not intended. So while the error code is technically correct, it should not have displayed for you and crashed. Jason will take a look at that in the morning.
  23. Because of the changes made, you'll most likely need to download a lot of images again because it's needing to put them in new locations. I backed up my image folder, removed it, and am essentially starting over. Especially for the size of my library, it's just easier.
  24. These are the same systems. Regional naming, release dates, images and etc are just common in the gaming industry and still happens to this day. That doesn't mean they aren't the same exact thing with a different regional scheme on the box. Also, PC Engine / TGFX16 is the distinction. PC CD and TurboGrafx CD is still seperate from the 16. Hu Cards vs Discs. Just like how Genesis, CD and 32x are still seperate but regional differences doesn't make it different per se.
