  1. We're working on adding as many as we can to the Database, but also the Hyperspin website has a good pack of them as well that are free to download. Otherwise, you can post them up to the LaunchBox Games Database, which might be the best course of action, or you can post the pack to a file sharing site as well and share the link here if you want. Mediafire, DropBox, and Google Drive are all respectable for file hosting.
  2. The file re-naming is being investigated, but they are still PNG's technically because they still have their transparent layer. Jason is also doing Image restructuring this week so things are going to change up a bit as well.
  3. No that totally makes sense, I was just curious was all. :P
  4. Yea that works too, I forget about that some times. xD
  5. CSO is similar to PBP, except for adding in multiple discs. PBP was special because that was something developed by Sony for the PSP. If you ever used CSO for PSP it's the same concept. Per disc switching, except for getting rid of duplicates it is super easy to save state and load it up on the new disc as well.
  6. Thank you for letting us know, we do appreciate it.
  7. Not currently no, but I think there is a BitBucket ticket for it.
  8. If we made the switch we would probably go towards Media Player Classic, as I believe they're fully open like VLC. We've since actually gotten rid of a majority of bugs with VLC, which was only giving a small amount of people issues. If we switched though, it might end up taking more time because we also can't say for sure there won't be any bugs for us to fix. In terms of LaunchBox as well, we still offer WMP Playback which is still also perfectly fine. The only draw back is a user needs to install something like K-Lite Codec Pack Standard (which they should anyways as it's essential for video and audio playback), and it's not readily aparent to most users.
  9. There are a few options for you. Use naming software like Metamophases to batch remove ".iso" and then run the scraper, de-archive them all (which we actually suggest for Disc based games, especially PS2), or un-archive them and use something like MaxCSO to CSO them which will save you space but make it so you don't have to un-archive them each time you want to play them. At least those are the options with the logic that LaunchBox currently has. The quickest path would probably be to rename them. If the iso is kept inside an archive like a .rar, .7z or a .zip, then renaming it shouldn't mess up the unarchiving process in LaunchBox. Otherwise using the CSO or regular ISO's might be the best long term.
  10. If we IndieGoGo it and make it, i'd totally make the commercial.
  11. imdavid555 said So when's the Super Bowl ad Glad to hear things are going so well with LaunchBox! We'll IndieGoGo that right away!
  12. I covered emulation preserveration on RSS previously too. I did a story on this: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/03/how-the-demonization-of-emulation-devalues-gamings-heritage/
  13. progets said This is a good topic. I'm using symbolic links to point LaunchBox to my HyperSpin media. This can be done from the command line or with a 3rd party tool. Here's an example of my NES mappings. mklink -d "D:\LaunchBox\Games\Nintendo Entertainment System" "D:\HyperSpin\Roms\Nintendo Entertainment System" mklink -d "D:\LaunchBox\Images\Nintendo Entertainment System\Front" "D:\HyperSpin\Media\Nintendo Entertainment System\Images\Artwork3" mklink -d "D:\LaunchBox\Images\Nintendo Entertainment System\Screenshot\Cart" "D:\HyperSpin\Media\Nintendo Entertainment System\Images\Artwork4" mklink -d "D:\LaunchBox\Images\Nintendo Entertainment System\Clear Logo" "D:\HyperSpin\Media\Nintendo Entertainment System\Images\Wheel" mklink -d "D:\LaunchBox\Videos\Nintendo Entertainment System" "D:\HyperSpin\Media\Nintendo Entertainment System\Video" May I ask why? You can tell LaunchBox the pathing when you go to Tools -> Manage Platforms. Edit a Platform and it will show you paths to where it's looking for all the media.
  14. Zombeaver Curating your games is a very good idea, and I do it too, but the No-Intro set doesn't give you bad dumps, hacked dumps, trainer dumps and all those extra duplicates. It at least gives you a cleaner starting point for a curated library. Gizmo, if you grab an Atari 2600 No-Intro Set, you'll have far less copies of a game. You'll still want to delete games you don't want but you'll be better off.

Abobo You can go to any LaunchBox Games Database page, assuming you have an account, and request the changes that you want to make. It's open to anyone.
  17. To be hones, I don't know why It created a duplicate folder, but you can move the images from that subfolder in to the main folder and restart LaunchBox for it to see the images. Also, renaming file extensions like that almost never works, at least for most file types. It should be a PNG, but it needs to properly be a PNG and renaming it won't make a difference or break it. We're gonna look in to why we have JPG's in here, because they really shouldn't be. If you have more questions feel free to ask.
  18. Of course, now we know! I didn't know if it was any image or all images, so I was just trying to make sure.
  19. kmoney2315 said SentaiBrad said There was a similar report of this recently, but it had to do with Intel Integrated Graphics and the Anti Aliasing option being turned up to 16. Do you have some sort of system wide Anti Aliasing turned on in your Graphics Control Panel by any chance? I use a Nvidia mid end graphics card and my Anti Aliasing is application controlled. Have you tried replacing the image at all and does it come back?
  20. Putting the media inside of LaunchBox in the proper location is just one solution, but you can tell LaunchBox where the media is on the screen you screenshotted as well. Press Browse and find the folder with the corresponding media. As long as the media is named after the game or the file name then it will automatically match. We get that some users don't want to make the full switch over. If you import with no media and tell LaunchBox the location of the media and restart LB, it should work pretty flawlessly or with minimal changes needed. Our Database is free to contribute to though, and soon uploading games we don't have from within LaunchBox will be supported. We have much more image categories than inside of LaunchBox currently that also still need to make their way over. We have guidelines in our LaunchBox Games Database section and conversations about certain situations are available too if you are curious. So our Database is rapidly expanding, and it's free. The only thing we suggest if you want something Premium is EmuMovies video, which also requires LaunchBox Premium. I get that it's kind of a tricky situation, and we want everybody to comfortably move over. At the same time though LaunchBox can be fully independant as well, if you feel like going that route and doesn't take too much to get your existing artwork working.
  21. Because compression takes a lot of time for decompression, so it is suggested to not do this for Disc based systems, and on the earlier cart based systems you don't save that much space in the grand scheme of things. That said, we do know people like to use it regardless, and as long as you check the Box when you edit an emulator to use Archive Compression (to decompress it), then it will work just fine. Just make sure to disable that check box for games that can't be decompressed, like Arcade systems. Some emulators also natively support archives as well, in which case that is prefered. The alternative I prefer and suggest the most is to not use archive compression, but alternate compression. PS2 and PSP games can be CSO compressed, Gamecube games GCM compressed, Wii games can be WBFS compressed and PS1 games can be PBP compressed and it will eliminate the multi-disc issue as it should automatically switch discs. Some games don't like being put in to CSO, PBP or GCM containers though, and there are compatability charts for those systems on the internet. Search the forums for those compression methods if you're curious, we've talked about them a lot on here.
  22. anyany, there is no need to change languages this bug has been recently fixed and Custom Filters should work great for you now.

  24. I would say to import without any media downloaded, so uncheck everything. Then either move the media you have downloaded in to your LaunchBox folder and the proper sub folders, (might be best in the long run) and then restart LaunchBox once you either set the path or put the media in the proper locations. After that, open a system on the left, click a game and Ctrl + A to highlight them all. Once highlight, use Tools -> Download Metadata and Images. Choose the second option in the Wizard which should only download media for games that have a missing field. So if you have games that have missing front box art, that option should fill them in if we have the media on the LaunchBox Games Database, if it's found on Wikipedia, or if EmuMovies has it. Keep in mind that EmuMovies has a daily 1GB download limit and a concurrent speed limit for users who are not premium membersm, but they offer a lot of art. Video is for Premium Only, and it's updated consantly, which you also need LaunchBox Premium to access. If you do have an EM Premium account or want to get one, the bandwidth limits go away too.
