  1. If you use a controller and plug it in, it will automatically set your controls if the controller is a 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and some other USB controllers. It will change some input options based on the core you have loaded, but if you don't have one loaded at the time and try changing the inputs, it might be asking you to change everything.
  2. Even if you could do a virtual controller set up, which I still don't know how you would, I don't know if it wouldn't fall under the same issues as you do now, or even introduce input lag even. As long as you plug a controller in, fresh, or leave it plugged in, it shouldn't be changing around that much. I have PCSX2 set up, and each time I plug my controller in, it works just fine. I've never had a mismatching ID situation. Even if you had multiple controllers, plugging one in should result in it being the first controller, then the second being the second. Is this not the case? I don't use multiple controllers much, so.
  3. We've had MESS tutorials for several months now. I ended up figuring it out. The problem was the documentation, but once I figured it out it wasn't much, if any, harder than RetroArch.
  4. That's good to know, I'll see if I can pass this on to Jason.
  5. Well, every mod should get the same stuff unless they skipped it, but even then it comes back around even if they skipped it. So theoretically, if enough mods took a break, yea that could happen. If something gets truly stuck though, it's also supposed to get reset as well.
  6. Same as Derek, I've never seen them come any other way.
  7. If you already have LaunchBox Premium, then our Patreon is the only other way. We talk about it primarily in our videos. https://www.patreon.com/launchbox
  8. Besides controllers, I don't see any cost hiding. We can't call games, special editions, amiibos and guides extra costs, if you want them for any system (except amiibos), that's upfront extra cost that you must realize. Everything comes in the box, and the controllers are only $5 more than PS4 and Xbox One controllers. So Switch Pro vs PS4 controller is only an extra $5. The extra Switch dock is pointless, but I do think the Joycons are stupid expensive. Xbox Ones also don't come with re-chargeable batteries in the box, and that's another accessory you need to buy, which is equivalent to the Charging grip for the Joy Cons. So, the price of stuff sucks, but besides the dock, everything is inline with the rest of the industry. Launch lineup is no worse than previous generations, and the cost was cheaper than a launch PS4 and certainly cheaper than an Xbox One. The only "hidden" cost is an SD Card, but the PS4 and Xbox One only came with 500GB originally, minus the OS. Granted, 500GB is much more than 32GB, but I expect the average game to be smaller. I also wont have as many as I do on the PS4. There's tons of games at line up, but I'm really only excited for Zelda. I have too much other stuff to play anyways, and not enough money to buy more than I already did.
  9. As far as I know, I've never heard of this. Why do you want them to be always on? If you want them to be configured easily, then RetroArch and MAME will automatically set controls for PS4 controllers (and quite a few others). For the systems that you don't want to emulate through RetroArch or MAME, you can create profiles and configs for them. So maybe a bit of info as to why you want this set up would help a bit. I'm also lost as to why you'd want to configure 2 sets of emulators, even with your previous idea. Also, you can edit LaunchBox to tell it where media is. You can edit systems in Tools -> Manage Platforms and edit the paths to the ones you want them to be. So for a second install, just point them to the first installs media.
  10. Some of the systems don't have complete metadata or images, the link Spycat linked to has quite a lot of extra information.
  11. I'm only talking about the actual MAME Import. When you import roms and run the MAME Importer, there are check boxes and preferences you can set. If you only have the parent roms, certain things like region settings wont work. Split and non-merged are the only two that properly work in the importer. I'm not saying you can't play or use merged.
  12. Yea, I just read this, and you couldn't be farther. Nintendo just contracted Nvidia for that tech, like every other console ever does with any manufacture. Consoles have primarily used ATI then AMD though. Nintendo is also not failing at mobile, but doing quite quite well in fact. They're not ditching their hardware, and playing it smart with phones. They don't see them as a competitor, and instead an easy way to make money and get a younger audience interested in Nintendo. Even though the Switch is replacing the Console and Handheld, they call it a console, so in their mind they made a different home console that just happens to be portable.
  13. Merged doesn't allow for the full range of import options though, since things are merged and zips are "missing" (they're not really missing, but you get my point). If Split is broken in .183, like .182, it wont matter anyways and non-merged would be my go to.
  14. I only used BestBuy for the Amiibos and Zelda Special Edition (I couldn't get the special edition from anywhere else, nor the master edition from anywhere) and I did get my first charge this morning. The console and Zelda Guidebook I got through Amazon. I got 20% from BestBuy too, because I bought their $30 2 year gamer thing (which was technically $20), and that saved me $36 off the top before applying to the rest of it. I normally get this stuff through Amazon because of Prime, free 2-day shipping and 20% off, but in this case BestBuy was essentially able to match it for no extra money, in fact I'm saving money.
  15. Good to know, thanks @lordmonkus.
  16. With my 3DS having a Custom Firmware, I do prefer that, but recording it is a PITA, so an emulator could open that up for me. That's generally the main reason why I would prefer emulation over real hardware, unless I have nostalgia. Like for the PSP, I can record from a real PSP, and mine is hacked, but it actually looks like crap. I'd rather record DS and 3DS from real hardware because it can run perfectly, and I wouldn't have a workaround for the stylus. Recording an emulator would look better and be a lot easier. So for me, it just depends. I'd almost always prefer both, for different situations.
  17. If I did, I don't remember, but I'm fairly certain that wasn't me. If the installer still has that adware stuff, all you have to do is uncheck the box and it doesn't install.
  18. You can download the latest Citra compiled, or at least what I thought was the latest. I grabbed it from their site, and it seems to be a rather new build date (It was called Nightly I believe). You can also find builds on sites like EmuCR very easily. CITRA is playing games, but it's not there yet. I was surprised to see if play OoT at a decent speed, when a few versions ago, the intro lagged, but I just tested the intro again. Better speeds, and it now has internal upscaling, but upscaling dropped performance and tons of audio bugs are still present. The only reason I say this is because I don't want someone who isn't well versed in emulation to think that CITRA is THE 3DS emulator. Well, technically it is, cause there's only 1 as far as I know, but it's still in a very Alpha state, like RPCS3 and CEMU.
  19. I did post the link, check my edit. I don't know much about it's claims, or it's compatibility vs 4DO, but another emulator doesn't hurt.
  20. Actually, if this is the emulator I'm thinking of, I saw this last night after I posted on the thread. 4DO is still good, but I do want to check this one out, and I found a fully translated version of it. Edit: Here - http://ngemu.com/threads/phoenix-project-3do-emulator-translated-into-english.191753/
  21. Yea, it was an awkward time in that emulators history. As far as I can tell, it's very murky over there in terms of history and who's running the show. If I recall, and I could be wrong, some higher ups changed regarding the emulator and that's why things suddenly changed. Either way, 2.3 is much better than 1.7, and GLupen is shaping up nicely. N64 is finally starting to progress after a long time of almost nothing.
  22. As far as I know, and @CriticalCid might have to correct me on that, but CLRMAMEPro will do all MAME roms, period. If you find an older set, but update packs, as long as you update them right it should be totally fine.
  23. Oh, you're using RetroArch? Things get more complicated with that, which is why I stay away from MAME in RetroArch. I love RetroArch to death, but some of the cores aren't necessarily better and/or could be harder then the regular versions. The sets and cores don't need to match perfectly, but I do greatly suggest regular MAME over the RA core in almost any situation. In terms of which version, always stick with the latest version, with the latest rom set. If you have bandwidth issues, you could go every 4-5 months instead. They do have update packs available out there too, but it's best to use something line CLRMAMEPro to put the update in properly.
  24. MAME will automatically set up your controller and has quite a few shader options as well, more than they did several months ago even. So if you haven't checked it out in a while, it might be well worth it at this point.
