And if you are missing bios, then the best case scenario is to find a MAME .183 split or non-merged rom set (with MAME .183b) as this will have everything you need, then follow what @lordmonkus said about keeping them all in 1 folder. The MAME/roms folder is generally the best as that's where MAME is looking by default. Run the MAME Importer in LaunchBox and it will take care of the rest and import your roms based on your preferences.

Did you ever try a support ticket? I know @circo is very busy, but he does care about the quality of his stuff. Maybe they're just getting lost in the noise for him? Similar as to how Jason loses a lot of forum posts unless he specifically gets e-mails about them.

There aren't many cases to stay away from RA cores, but PSP is one of them unfortunately. The core hasn't been updated in almost 2 years. So it having bugs is very very probable.

When you click search, that game never pops up? It's common for other games that can match Descent to pop up, but they all have their platforms labeled and Descent (MS-DOS) should be there. I just checked my Descent, and it was attached to ID 2299. I clicked the red x to disassociated it, then clicked search, and the first option was Descent (MS-DOS), and clicking on it returned the ID 2299. The ID at the end of the URL and the ID for a game in your LaunchBox may not match the same. In fact, out of all the tests I just made for different games, none of them matched.

I don't know if you are necessarily doing anything wrong. You rename the platform in LB, it stays renamed, but then goes away after a LaunchBox restart?

Did you try using the Metadata and Images downloader? I've had this issue where every once in a while I'll tell it to download, and games that are attached to Database entries don't download their images. I'll manually go by, hit download on that one, and it will have images to grab. I have no clue, but I have told Jason about it.

Those joycons have an insane battery life, but very low input lag. So, I don't know if the issue was fixed, GameXplain did a second video about it, if they were fixed from the day one patch, but I haven't seen it yet. For me, The Switch at $300 (I got it from Amazon instead of Walmart, which I could have gotten $30 off, but the stock was limited and went out fast so good chance of not getting it), Zelda special edition and all 5 amiibo at $156. I think that's it. We were gonna get a Pro controller last night, and part of me wishes we did, but as I played (and streamed) Zelda last night, it got a lot easier to play. At first I was mad I couldn't charge them and play without buying a charge grip or buying a pro controller, but the batteries lasted the whole time and never drained on the meter, and I got used to them. I love my 3DS and Vita, and had to get used to those. Maybe a 3rd party will release a better JoyCon grip like I have grips for my N3DS and Vita (just to make my hands cramp less).

Well, my first guess is it doesn't like loading through the command line, it wants to be driven by it's UI. So looking up and finding if it has a command line paramter would be where I would start, or if there is an option in it's options menu. For example, even though CEMU emulates one system (the Wii U), it needs the -f command for it to play games through LaunchBox. So if it has command line documentation that would be a good place to start.

It should scan and find them in subdirectories all the same. It's looking for cue sheets for both of them. But yea, it's mostly pointless to scan for them in RA if you use LaunchBox, though I kind of get why.

Well, it's not exactly black and white. What type of RAM are you using? Also keep in mind, that CPU is a second gen i7. What Ghz is it running at as well? Past that, is your library still caching, and what size is your library? Are you on Windows 7 or 10? Also, have you done anything to keep your Windows install clean?

Honestly, we didn't want to go to any specific set. In that case I have had "Legend of Zelda, The" found correctly though. The guidelines have always stated that we would want to preserve what the actual name of the game is, either on the box, cart or from the devs, and not what a set has named it. Some games with "the" afterwards can have issues, but most of mine have been found and it's optional in LaunchBox to ignore when The is first anyways as this is always personal preference. The Alternate name field does allow for unlimited amounts of names technically, but it's not being scraped right now anyways. So I don't really see a problem with adding an alternate name to a game, but "Legend of Zelda, The" at least as the example, doesn't seem like a proper name in any case. That is not the name of the game and it's their personal preference to have named their titles this way (even though I do love No-Intro). Maybe the scraper should be updated to handle that situation better instead, and then still provide the option to the user first? Thoughts?

The BIOS should go in the firmware folder, and trying to look up the command line is a bit difficult. I think "-ss" (without the quotes) should work, but I am unsure. Also yea, if it's in the list, defaults will be loaded for command lines (though some of them like the RetroArch command line needs updating), but you can just type in anything you want. You know, that may be correct, but I recall the full name being there. As a work around, you can import multiple files and double click their names on the last screen to at the very lest change them all at once. Otherwise, you can make your request by clicking Issues/Requests at the top of the forums.

I know, which is why I said it surprisingly used the proper folder name. When I did it for the tutorial that's how it had worked. I used the use folder name and it gave me the Legend of Zelda name first try.

Yes, which I covered in the Wii U tutorial a while back. Use the search for files import option, then go to the root folder, and search for the prx file extension by entering "*.prx". This will filter out all PRX files, then on the second to last screen, check the box to use the folder name. When I did it, it used the actual game folder name just fine.

If you have ../ instead of a drive letter, that means the relative path is working. So what is exactly happening? Is anything actually broken and not loading? As long as you kept the folder structure past the /../, you should be good to go.

HDMI to DVI will introduce issues if you want the best quality. Color space and quality will change.

You could always fill the sides with overlays, but yea, that's part of why I was asking the intention. It really depends on the setup, and what the goal is. 16:9 wont look bad, and if HDMI is needed, then a 4:3 with HDMI is harder to find than you'd think. You're certainly not getting an affordable CRT with HDMI.

Not easily no. For the most part, most games should run through MAME, and the MAME importer will not import games that don't currently run. If games aren't loading, then how did you acquire the roms? Did you find a complete split or non-merged rom pack, or did you get single roms randomly online? Finding a .183 split or non-merged rom set with MAME .183 might be your best bet. MAME in RetroArch is confusing even more so, so if anything is off with BIOS and roms it wont work.

Yea, it looks like they're not seeing each other. In this case I would do what Spycat suggested and combine them.

There is tons of info about this, but I've never joined them back together. Generally, there will be .001, .002 like Spycat said, so you'll need all of the parts of the archive. Right click the first one and extract. They should be named the same thing also (I recall that being a key). I don't know why they have .7z in there, cause the owner originally split the 7z archive? Either way, rename the parts of their name before .7z.001 and .7.002 to the same thing, make sure you have all the parts, and try again.

Yea, it can literally be anything, just as long as the name is correct.
