  1. Where do you get that core from I just ran the updater again and my core is mess2014
  2. CADScott don't you have really shitty internet (or was that someone else) I get my stuff from them pretty quickly but I get 50Mbps down from FIOS.
  3. Also when adding games just because a platform isn't in the list doesn't mean that you can't add it you can name your platform anything you want (unless you are only using a controller with LaunchBox because then you can't type in the custom name) but like Brad said there will be issues with scraping. Truthfully though in my experience many of those Japanese games won't produce results anyway even using the proper platform name.
  4. No that step isn't obvious and I needed someone to explain it to when I 1st attempted to import Sega CD games.
  5. Ok when you use the importer choose files and not folders. Then when Windows Explorer opens go to the search bar and type "*.gdi Brad shows this in the Dreamcast tutorial which can be found here. You will want to use this method to import any multiple file disc game but with the specific file extension that that emulator is expecting.
  6. No I believe that non-regional metadata is a huge issue with the database that are already available but that being said unless we had some actual Japanese users that would be able to help us out finding documentation for many of these games may be hard to come by.
  7. Any one see the Atari 5200 game Chicken that is up for moderation? Is this even a 5200 game none of the ROM sites I go on have it in their collection of games. I saw something about it being a XL port but is it an official game even? Okay after dong a little more digging I found this post on Atari Age that says it was a new ROM in 2009 and that it had been available on the 128 in 1 5200 multicart I am personally going to rejuct everything about it until we have our hacks, home brew and unofficial ports section going or until we have better established guide lines in what we need to do in this scenario.
  8. When the feature was 1st implemented I tested it and yes different types of compression got different results I was also using it from files located on my server over Gigabit. I believe that a few of the post in this thread document my results.
  9. I just turned a old Acer Aspire that I had with no OS on it into a Lakka console so I'm renaming at least my Atari 5200 roms to be able to run them on there.
  10. I got Lakka up and running on an old Acer Aspire laptop that I had laying around. I'm running it live from a USB drive so far for some reason I can't get it to boot after installing but the live boot works fine.
  11. Yeah you have to change the names to match the naming in MAME and then zip them also.
  12. It would be nice to use this but KAT5200 is just better than MAME core at emulating the 5200. Glad I gave it a go though and now I know how to set up MESS capabilities through the MAME core in RA. It will at least come in handy on Android.
  13. I got Atari 5200 running through the MAME core in RA here is a video that shows you what your folder structure has to be like it is an example shown in Android but by following it you will have success. Basically though you create a folder called MAME in your system folder then you set the structure up like this System\MAME\ROMs\a5200 inside the a5200 you need the 5200.rom file zipped and named a5200.zip so once you zip the file you have to rename it. Also in the MAME folder you will need the hash folder you can download it here you need to download the mame0172s.zip once you download the file you can use winrar to look inside of the archive just find the hash file and unzip it then move it to your MAME folder. You will have to rename the roms to what MAME is looking for so you need to open the hash files and view the a5200.xml (or whatever system you are trying to run).
  14. No Plex doesn't work with any emulators. It is just for movies, music and photos. It just allows you to use your XBox One to access your media server. It also works with XBox 360, PS3, PS4, Smart TV's, streaming devices (Apple TV, Roku), Android (Phones and Tablets) IOS, Mac, Windows, Linux and Amazon Fire (tablets, and TV).
  15. I love the asterisk idea keeps it simple but lets users that have a historical intrest know that it used to be something else.
  16. I just read an article about Lakka which was pretty intriguing as I have an old Acer netbook laying around without any operating system installed on it. I was thinking I may install Lakka and give it a try on the laptop which isn't very powerful but I'm sure it can handle simple emulation. Anyone have any experience with it that could offer any advice.
  17. I've wanted sub-platforms forever.
  18. Here's a set of 17 Super Mario Bros. Propaganda Posters by artist Fernando Reza They are pretty sweet looking like the arcade ones.
  19. I was playing with this a little earlier Bluestacks2 running Stella Core of RA only issue is you would need some kind of mapper software in order to use a gamepad plus its mega redundant just was bored and wanted to see if I could get it running. I love how once you know how to setup RA you can set it up the same way on every device. I read they are going to port it to Windows Phone which I hope translates into Windows Mobile 10 I'd love to turn my actual phone with service into a portable gaming device instead of using older phones with no service.
  20. At least you can get the core to load.
  21. Drivers? I also saw some one running Atari 5200 through MAME in RA but it was an Android video so one of the MAME cores must be new enough to pull it off I created a MESS folder in the system folder like I was told I got the MAME hash file and put it in that folder then I took a copy of the 5200 BIOS and zipped it up and put it in a file I named ROMs. The problem is that the core won't even load every time I try it says No Core.
  22. I saw a video on how people were getting MESS to run in RA so I decided to try and I set it up like they described only to have the core refuse to load anyone know what I'm doing wrong or maybe the core doesn't work in this version.
  23. Yeah maybe something Jason did broke the importer but I don't know
