  1. Oops, I guess I can't edit posts. That's going to make updating the first post a bugger. Don't forget to click the images to view them in full size. 2. Hey everybody. Some of you might know that I've been doing some different things when it comes to my LaunchBox collection, and I've been happily chugging along for about a year now and have decided to share my resources with the community. This thread is primarily for my game box tile art. Admittedly these are mostly poor-to-mediocre crop jobs, but I've still done... just hundreds of these (which won't all be uploaded at one time). I know the dimensions are a little weird, but they're the dimensions I ended up settling on in order to get LaunchBox to look just the way I wanted (and I will share my spacing and padding options for those of you who like what's going on). If anybody would like to contribute any tiles or make ones which are better than mine, go ahead and post them here--I won't be jealous! Comic Books:
  3. When it comes time for the poll, would you mind elaborating on how you intend to implement user profiles and what features you would specifically be tackling with their implementation? I think just "User Profile" is an extremely vague thing without that.
  4. There probably isn't an audience for these beside myself, but I made a handful of little things tonight. Also included an example of how I'm using them.
  5. I understand that. I don't think I'll ever be through organizing my collections, but I do kind of enjoy it. Right now I try to just clean up one item per category (Literature, Games, Movies, Comics, and Music) per day. That includes whatever artwork I need to make it look pretty in Big Box and whatever else I do for my own needs with the collection. It makes me happy to know that there's a group of us using LaunchBox for more than just video games, though. Maybe we could all group up and work on some kind of impromptu metadata database
  6. Comics are actually a whole other ballpark for me. It would be awesome to be able to include each individual issue as its own "Game" and use Playlists to manage the volumes (although at that point Playlists would need Region sorting...). Right now I have each volume as a game and just use quick keys in CDisplay to jump to whatever issue I need. I used to use Additional Apps to manage issues, but that became way too time consuming.
  7. I use my LaunchBox for all different sorts of media to have a consistent visual browsing experience, but that means making some sacrifices when it comes to organizing metadata. Platform Categories has cleaned things up considerably, but there's still littler irksome things in my collection that can't be avoided without doing it completely differently. For instance, right now I am using Playlists to organize music by artists (each album is a "game" and the playlist is the artist name), but Playlists can't share names, so if I have a musician who is also an actor, I end up with playlists like "Lindsay Lohan (as Musician)" and "Lindsay Lohan (as Actor)." Being able to use different Big Box libraries in a clean way would fix this issue for me. But it isn't a huge deal.
  8. It would make my life a whole lot easier if I could use a feature like that to launch other Big Box installs.
  9. What do you mean by this? Global Menu Items?
  10. ctrl + shift + V should paste text without color formatting, but I think it might be browser-dependent.
  11. Along the same lines, it would be nice to be able to point to a "default" video for instances where no video or background artwork is available.
  12. I also just encountered the issue of Platform Categories not sorting properly (a new development on my end, after the update you sent out to fix the slowdown). For me it is manifesting exclusively in Big Box.
  13. This is really cool. Simple, clean, and every style of box will look nice in it. I love the little circle indicators for favorites and all that, nice touch.
  14. I've had this issue as well. The problem is that Platform Categories aren't being deleted from Platforms.xml for whatever reason. Open that file and find any references to your unwanted categories and get rid of them.
  15. I've been current with every beta since the 7.9 revisions started. I'll send you my data. I was messing around with it last night, and it looks like the lag is only present when dealing with Platform Categories.
  16. I've been working with LaunchBox pretty much all day, making my collection all pretty and up-to-date with Metadata and games I hadn't added yet. Then I updated to the new beta. Oh boy. Suddenly I am cursed with waiting multiple minutes when switching between platforms, and more than ten when switching between Playlists and Platform Categories views.
  17. He's going to do a poll I think, right? Like before? Some kind of parental control system, you guys. Like, hiding certain tagged games unless a password is entered. Vote PC! I'm starting a campaign. Consider this the Ratings Matter Party.
  18. Nah, I understand you were just doing what you thought was the right thing to keep the thread uncluttered and get my problem to an area where it could be fixed up.
  19. All right, thanks for looking at that. It's not a huge deal, and if it breaks more things than it fixes I don't know too many people who are going to be bothered by it. I just thought I'd bring it to your attention while Playlists and Platform Categories were still the fresh focus for the project.
  20. Playlists and Platform Categories without video do not select a random video to play. All I get is black. I assumed since there weren't options for these in the videos menu that they were things which either hadn't been implemented yet or had slipped under the radar.
  21. I mean, I didn't know it was a problem with my setup, and since playlists and platform categories are relevant to the current new releases, I thought it should go here. But now I know my setup isn't working the way it should, so I'll check around my files a bit and then make a thread elsewhere.
  22. Guess mine is broken then 3:
  23. Just a question. Do you intend to eventually program playlists with the ability to play videos from the games associated with them, the way you can with platforms?
  24. I mean, it does mean that, it really does... but sometimes when you use a word enough, it just slips through in place of whatever word you want to use but can't think of.
  25. I kind of felt that way as well, but I don't think Jason meant that as in "Some of these themes really suck, you guys." I think it's just... that's probably the word Jason uses in his everyday vernacular to designate something which is lesser in a specific way (I know that I do), and in this context he meant that Cityhunter isn't a lightweight theme. Not that any theme is inherently better or worse than, but that "This isn't using a small ("crappy") amount of resources." I could be totally way off base though.
