  1. I was trying to add some scans I did of the Canadian BioShock box, but I had scanned them at 600ppi. I guess this makes the file sizes too large for the database. I know I can just shrink them down or compress them, but I feel like that compromises the stated goal of uploading images (that is, to use the highest quality source for any given image). I don't know if you guys would consider raising the file size limits. Either way, I don't want the scans to go to waste outside of my own collection, so I'll leave them here. Unfortunately I'm not the best scanner in the world, but I couldn't find any superior versions online.
  2. I also just had an issue importing NES roms... Where LaunchBox completely failed to create a platform.xml file, so none of the NES games appear in my library.
  3. What are we supposed to do with Platinum Hits/Nintendo Selects/Greatest Hits alternate covers? If we upload them as a front cover, they'll probably replace the existing cover, right? Shouldn't we have both? Also, I'm noticing that the database is riddled with "Only for... SYSTEM" games that aren't actually exclusives. For most of these games I even own the originals and can see that the covers do not contain an exclusive message. Most of these are media tie-in games, like Tarzan and Chicken Little.
  4. As of 6.10 update, renaming a game will not rename the images that go with it.
  5. Turi0n said Hi, i made this theme just editing the xaml files. Tested only in Full HD DOWNLOAD With different background color gradient I'm having a lot of trouble getting this theme to work, which is a shame because it's definitely what I want to be looking at when I use Big Box. Particularly the Steam Banners List view you have there. Here's the problems I'm having: I don't know at all how you even did the Steam Banners view in the first place. When I try to use what I think is your Steam Banners view, I get a weird half-list of games titles and not a list of Steam Banners. Various aspects of the theme seems to have visual anomalies... Games with clear logos do not display that clean-looking title banner in their details menu.
  6. I forgot to mention something that was happening to me when I used the new view (not the coverflow... the one with the front all in a line and the details below). When I came across games with associated videos, that video would continue to play no matter what selection I looked at, even games with their own videos. That video would simply remain a constant while I browsed. It even persisted in the background when I left the Game List and went back to the filters menu.
  7. I tested the beta and everything seems to be working fine for me now.
  8. I tested the new letter navigation in Big Box and noticed that the letters respond to only to the game's Title, but not to the game's "Sort Title." For instance, I have "The Dark Knight" with a sort title "Batman Begins 2", but for the letters "D" and "T" the list would pick "The Dark Knight." It would also remain stuck on that entry for the letters "E" through "W", at which point I could work from "W" backwards until I reached "T" (where it would hop back up to "The Dark Knight").
  9. Ah, sorry. I haven't been on Steam very much lately other than to satisfy my digital hoarding addiction, and I haven't been as active here as I was in the past. The last part being why I waited this long to volunteer for the database. In part I wanted to see what form it would take before offering. Edit: I was doing what I can to fill in missing details for games. Right now I'm working on RE: Revelations for Wii U, and I'm a little stumped. Someone has filled in "No" for the "Cooperative" field, but the Raid Mode does feature a cooperative component, albeit online. To that end also, I'm not sure how to fill in the "Players" field, since local play is restricted to a single player while online play can feature two. "Survival Horror" is also absent as a genre, and I don't think I can suggest its addition without being a moderator myself.
  10. Basically, allowing users to import multiple images at one time would solve the problem.
  11. Tags would be useful for giving a game specific search terms without adding any new fields to the navigation pane... it makes LB more useful and also reduces screen clutter.
  12. I also picked up the three Fatal Frame games, in addition to Manhunt. I'm not a fan of where PS2 emulation for PC is at right now, but I'm also trying to minimize the amount of physical space my games collection uses up (I was at four or five full bookcases at one point... now I've narrowed it down to just a few shelves on one by taking disc-only titles and putting them in jewel cases...), so I hop on a PS2 Classic any chance I get. There's a decent Naughty Dog sale going on right now as well, so I picked up the first Uncharted since I only just got a PS3 and have some catching up to do.
  13. I do it all manually... for comic books, to save on time and clutter, I do it like this: So the "Game" is only the full volume of the comic book while the individual issues and annuals are "Additional Applications". I don't know if it's going to serve your purpose, because it does mean you can't tag each issue by individual creator. I crop the cover images myself... So the collection has taken me some months to get into the state that it's in now, but I enjoy the work. I think if I were to create a LaunchBox install specifically for comic books I would make each individual volume a platform so that each issue could have more specific metadata, but my goal is to have an all-in-one media center that's simple enough for my family to understand.
  14. I'm sorry to butt into the divergent conversation... I use my LaunchBox install to track everything. Music, Movies, TV Shows, Games, Books, Comics... Everything. I prefer LaunchBox to other programs primarily because of its "Additional Applications" feature, which allows me to do some very versatile things with the program. I can use it for track listings, I can use it to sort shows by episode, I can use it for the special features in a dvd rip. It also provides a better atmosphere for collecting and exploring elements like insert and inlay scans and music videos by associating them with the appropriate album, and its metadata isn't limited to what a specific filetype can manage. Prior to this, I used Media Monkey to manage my collection... and I'm still putting that mess back together. In fact, I've spent the past week organizing my music in LaunchBox one album at a time and inputting all of that metadata by hand. I'm much happier now with all of my collections than I had been using other programs like Kodi or Calibre or MediaMonkey. What I do is take my preferred application (Media Monkey for music, VLC for videos [although I use GOM for some specific instances], CDisplay for Comics, etc.) and download a portable version of it, if available, and simply plug that into LaunchBox as an emulator. Of course there are certain limitations, such as being unable to build a "Now Playing" list (opening a new album will close the old one), but I am generally very happy with my collection. To be honest, I use LB more for my other media than I do for games at this point.
  15. I'm not sure which update did it exactly, but tonight I noticed that while using Big Box my Additional Apps are suddenly all in reversed-alphabetical order. Was there just a new option I missed to manipulate the sorting order? Can't seem to find it in the options menu, if there is.
  16. I kind of wonder if the "Features" board should be changed to "Bug-Testing" or "Beta Testing". At the very least, the description should be revised: "Discuss existing features or request new LaunchBox features." It's easy to see why the board is still being used as a request board.
  17. I don't know about launching PDFs while playing the game, but you can definitely launch BigBox or LaunchBox (either one) at start-up. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/run-program-automatically-windows-starts?tduid=(152e2ded01251f89cfcd10313ffed14a)(256380)(2459594)(XdSn0e3h3.k-ZGZs6.TYq08jxGT9_alwyQ)()#1TC=windows-7
  18. I'm running into a bit of a conundrum when it comes to filling in the metadata for episodic titles. Specifically for release dates. Is it the common ideology to register each episode as its own title? Presently I am using Additional Applications to order them. It would be beneficial for this purpose to allow for multiple release date fields (as, should one use the date of the first episode's release or the date of the last's?) and a small notes column to specify which episode was released when. Might also be useful for DLC. Just a thought.
  19. If you don't want to use the Custom Filters, you could always use the "Series" metadata tag. That should work out for you pretty well.
  20. I can't believe I never noticed this thread before! http://steamcommunity.com/id/kriven_raven/
  21. DOS: Don't beat yourself up too hard about it, man. You weren't in Asshole Country yet. Mainly the thing that a grid view would offer Big Box is expediency. I, like DOS, find myself using LaunchBox more because it's much simpler to navigate. In Big Box I have a list, and I have to pick through the list one item at a time. It's a pain, particularly for large collections. A grid view (which is already partially implemented on the front page of BB... literally just expand that to have more columns and rows and we're in business) would allow users the benefits of both an easy and intuitive browsing experience with the style offered only by Big Box.
  22. DOS76 said BigBox has a grid view its called LaunchBox That wasn't nice :-\ There's a lot a grid view in Big Box could provide that LaunchBox can't, like a way more comfortable couch experience.
  23. Along these lines, is there some way I can make LaunchBox search for the file/folder across a number of drives instead of one specific drive? I ask because, well, I keep pretty much everything downloaded at all times and on various hard drives... I'm up to about ten external devices now, and it's getting a little unwieldy assigning them all distinct numbers. It would be nice if I could tell LaunchBox: "Hey, look in drive D:, E:, and F: for this file." That way I wouldn't have to worry about assigned letters or plugging in multiple drives at one time.
  24. I have kind of a niche problem... Pokemon games use an acute "E" in their title (Pokémon), which LaunchBox treats as a distinct letter from traditional letter "E". Can that be changed? Even though I have the sort order set to recognize the games as "Pokemon" they don't show up when using the search function, just because their titles have the acute lettering. I'd like to keep the special character in the titles because that's the proper title, but if the acute "E" could be recognized as a traditional "E" please?
