  1. Oh, I didn't realize the long wait between Platform Categories and Platforms was a known problem. I kind of just assumed it was my system.
  2. I had this problem as well. I had to crawl through my data files and delete references to the category manually.
  3. Open Big Box. Options - Views - Default Startup View.
  4. You can already create your own categories.
  5. Hm... well, I'll have to get rid of that Playlists field if that's causing a problem. It's no longer needed, I was simply keeping it around until I had converted everything to the new LaunchBox Playlist system.
  6. 7.8 Big Box worked well for me, but we never did sort out why games weren't showing up when I clicked on Playlists in LaunchBox. I let Big Box sit for a while and left the room. When I came back it was in the proper screen and could switch back and forth without crashing. I guess it's just taking a while populating the categories for the first time.
  7. I was using the keyboard. Up and Down Arrows, Plus Enter. I've actually never tried the mouse in Big Box. Restarting Big Box rescued me from the infinite loop, but the program locks up whenever I click a Platform Category to enter, regardless of how many or how few Playlists/Platforms are included within the category.
  8. Platform Categories worked for a single click and then broke my Big Box. I'm now stuck in an infinite loop of the same five platforms.
  9. @Jason CarrHere's the Data folder as well as some screenshots to illustrate the trouble I'm having. When a Playlist is selected from the Playlists menu, no games will appear. When a Platform Category which contains playlists is selected, no playlist games appear. Games only appear when a playlist is directly selected from the platform category it lives in. Data.zip
  10. I've kind of been waiting for this since Big Box was even conceptualized.
  11. Are Playlists supposed to only work in Big Box? Whenever I click a playlist in LaunchBox, the screen is blank... doesn't populate with games.
  12. I know this isn't what you went with, but can a view like this be implemented? It's such a clean look.
  13. I cast my vote. Come oooonnnnn nested filters in Big Box.
  14. Oh, holy smokes. If you get that game video view BlueArrow suggested going, I am all in on this theme. I've been looking for the perfect theme to give me that GameCube intro squeak.
  15. What's all this about Music and Video audio conflicting with each other? I haven't updated in a long while (7.1) but I have videos and music associated with the same game in a lot of cases (mainly because I use LaunchBox as my music player as well, so I have music videos associated with albums which automatically play). As far as I can tell, scrolling over an item in Big Box will play the video audio while on the platform screen, and the music audio (with a muted video) in the games list or games details pages. Is that not how it's working anymore?
  16. Maybe next Christmas you could think about a LaunchBox for Homebrew Wii?
  17. I do this as well... annually. I stash the old discs away with my original copies (assuming it wasn't bought from GoG or something). Make a bunch of little inserts and use printable discs so they still look cool as heck on the shelves. Anyways, they main thing is, if a disc or a drive fails, I have several other copies I can recover from. I'm sure you do something like this, too.
  18. The latest two updates seem to have broken VLC playback in Big Box mode for me. There's an incredible amount of audio desync going on that never used to be there. At one point Big Box just kind of gave up loading videos at all until I quit that session. Additionally, clear logos are taking ages to load, and sometimes refusing to show up at all. I'm not on the latest beta and experiencing the same issues. I'm using the Minimal AO theme... maybe it isn't compatible?
  19. You're going to run into some tricky stuff with the N64 games, because of how different that control layout is.
  20. I've been using this theme for a while, since it was in its first version, and it has honestly been my favorite theme so far. Keep up the good work
  21. @Jason Carr I went ahead and gave it a test using an entirely different playlist to help differentiate between them. It looks like as long as both games have a clearly defined region, LaunchBox will play the correct region's music playlist (although in my first test I added the new regional version of the game first and had to manually specify the playlist). If only one instance of the game has a specified region, LaunchBox defaults to the .m3u located in the platform folder instead of looking at region folders. Short answer: it works, basically. I'll have to try this with videos at some point.
  22. It is? I thought this was shut down under the idea that users would abuse the system/users with unique set ups would pollute the database with images and metadata that aren't useful to other people.
  23. Question about music and folders: is it possible to associate music with different regions of a game the same way we can with images? It seems to be working with me so far, to put the music tracks for one region in a specified folder... but I also only have one copy of that game so far. Am i going to have problems when I try to add the next regional version?
  24. Will Platform Categories eventually make their way to Big Box? If they do, will they be given the same metadata and image treatment that individual platforms have?
  25. Like damageinc86 mentioned, joy2key does what you need. You can tell it to locate a specific file and launch a profile whenever that file is activated. For example,, you tell it to launch your SNES Control Profile whenever you open RetroArch or Higan. I use different RetroArch installs for each system (and sometimes for specific ROMs, if I have to) to get Joy2key to switch as needed. Then you just have joy2key launch when Windows starts up and never worry about manually adjusting the controls again.
