I have found it best to just use standalone Mame over the Retroarch Mame core. Personally I use Groovymame, it has the option to turn off the rom load nag screens within the ini file.
-
Could just be the hub is a piece of shit, it is an old one I had for a good number of years now.
-
Yeah for PC use the Horis need to be set to PS3 to work. The only complaint I have is that I have to plug it directly into a USB port on my laptop hooked up to the tv. If I go through a powered USB hub Windows says it doesn't have enough power.
-
Yeah those USB Saturn pads are legendary, too bad the price is what it is now. Atleast we got these Hori controllers, next best thing and the extra buttons are useful for emulator and frontend controls.
-
This one ? link That one does look cool but after using the other "odd shaped" one I think I like the odd shape better, it is so comfortable. If only there was a pc version of these old Sega wireless 6 button controllers. link I have a pair of these from way back in the day and they are amazing in the hand and the d-pad is absolutely perfect.
-
@Drybonz Yeah, it's a really sweet controller for anything that doesn't require an analog stick. The d-pad an buttons just feel so right, quick and responsive. @DOS76 I don't think they have a wireless version. It is targeted towards the fighting game community so going wireless would mean some potential input lag which is a huge no-no. But on the plus side the cord on it is quite long @ approx 10 feet.
-
Vsync should be turned off unless you got extremely bad screen tearing, the game should run at its natural speed. Other than causing games to run at the wrong speed it can also induce some input lag which no one wants. I made a thread a couple of weeks back where I posted about the settings I use in RA and these are settings that aren't necessarily basic in getting stuff up and running but I feel are extremely important to getting things running better and are also good settings to use across the board regardless of core you are using. https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/emulation/my-retroarch-settings

The default button on the controller is the Xbox "guide" button if you are using an xbox or Logitech controller. If that doesn't work the F1 key on the keyboard will bring it up then you navigate to Settings > Input > Input Hotkey Binds and at the bottom to can assign a key for it.

Your volume was probably set low from before, maybe from the last time you were playing around with RA, that's my guess anyways but that's minor. As for your game freaking out that is a weird one and not one I have ever encountered. The only things that come to mind immediately is check your RA video settings and see if Threaded Video is set to on or off, it should be set to off. With it on I have seen some weirdness from time to time. As for 32X performance I assume you mean it's running slow ? It runs slow on my laptop but my main gaming rig it runs just fine but because it's 32X with near 0 games worth playing I don't even play it. I can do some testing with Fusion 3.64 and see I can figure out some settings. What exactly is the problem with fusion and what are you looking to achieve ?

Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition (w/Fragments game)
Lordmonkus replied to CadetStimpy's topic in Games
What does LordMonkus refer to ? LOL I don't even remember exactly anymore. I just know it's something to do with monkeys because who doesn't love monkeys. It was probably some weird bastardized combination of Lord Vader, Darth Sidius and a monkey that me and a buddy came up after partaking in a few bowl hits. It was definitely something thought of several years ago and I really couldn't tell you the origins of it at all. -

The hololens is going to be an all in one unit. It's not like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive which connects to your PC. This is why the price is going to be $3000, it has the processing power built right in. If this device is to succeed it needs to target the educational sector like colleges and universities, this thing would be an amazing educational tool. As for gaming if they wanna show off what this thing can do then they need to show it off for games like Minecraft, tabletop D&D and strategy games. Those types of games would be amazing with this thing. Either way, 3 grand is a no starter for the vast majority of consumers out there. Hell, even when the Oculus Rift announced at $600 a lot of people (including myself) who were ready to plop down $450 took a big step back and said "nope, not paying that much" for it, and I have the PC ready to run it. -
snoopaloop83 said I installed a seperate MAME 64.exe just to test out the roms and most roms launch but when i try to launch neo geo roms or street fighter 2 turbo it says im missing roms or CHD images. @sentaibrad @jasoncarr Is it saying you are missing the neogeo bios and the qsound file for capcom games ? If so you need those separate rom files as well as the actual game files.
-
FBA binding system is a royal pain in the ass, that's why I use Retroarch and its FBA core for NeoGeo and Capcom CPS board games.
-
Jason did a good getting setup video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oeozvnb_-eI Getting it up and running isn't too terribly difficult but it is quirky. The biggest issue is getting it setup with the right bios files and naming to run the emulators that require them such as the PC Engine CD. While Retroarch does require some effort to get it set up it is well worth it in the long run for the bulk of your emulation needs.

Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition (w/Fragments game)
Lordmonkus replied to CadetStimpy's topic in Games
Oh don't get me wrong, there is most definitely some potential there for future games. I remember the Minecraft concept video that Microsoft showed off a while back and it looked cool. The price might be $3000 for developers but Microsoft have also said that it won't be cheap so don't expect to see it in the "reasonable for every day people" range soon, though 3 grand is definitely closer to that than say the 25-50 grand something like this may have cost a few years ago. All I am saying is that the price point needs to come down a lot still and they need to show off better game concepts than crappy point and click mystery games with cosmetic upgrades. -

I may be a jaded old man but I see this going no where considering the price point and that game looks like nothing more than a terrible point and click adventure game like those cheesy Sherlock Holmes games for the TurboGrafx 16 CD. Even if they had a more interesting looking game the $3000 price tag is just way too much to be of any interest to 99% of the people out there. -
Configuration for what ?
-
-mount dt, 0, That's the command switch I use for Sega Saturn in conjunction with a bat file. Not sure if it will work with Turbo CD games or not. For Turbo CD games I just use Retroarch, makes life so much easier.
-
I can't help you with the Sega Model 3 emulator but for mame bring up the in game mame menu with the tab key, go into input (general), the user interface, look for the UI Cancel and rebind that to something on your controller and just to be safe also bind it to something on your keyboad as well. You can multiple bindings for the same function.
-
Yeah I got mine setup with SSF and the bat file to mount and unmount games but the Saturn still needs a good emulator that's easy to use like ePSXe or an improves Yabause core for Retroarch.
-
Probably an AMD thing then, oh well. Saturn emulation is in such a poor state, it really needs the same attention the Playstation and Dolphin emulators got. I'd imagine coding up a Saturn emu to be a very painful task considering how notorious it was just to make games for.
-
Just out of curiosity, does the Saturn Yabause core actually run at a playable speed for you ? It runs god awfully slow for me on a 4 ghz AMD cpu. The standalone Yabause and SSF run fine for me but from what I have read on the retroarch forums the RA core doens't have the dynarec compiler in it yet and doesn't have the opengl support the standalone has.
-
Gave you a follow.
-
Just out of curiosity, why use Fusion over Retroarch and Genesis GX core ? I've used Fusion in the past and it is extremely good but because of the convenience of Retroarch offers with no perceivable downside compared to using it over Fusion.

RetroArch doesn´t want to work on Launchbox
Lordmonkus replied to MartGux's topic in Troubleshooting
I'm assuming you are using version 1.3.0 of Retroarch ? and did you try deleting the cfg file associated to the core in the config folder ? Just out of curiosity what are your system specs ? CPU, ram and video card ? and just for my piece of mind, you did say it works perfectly fine when loading a rom directly within the Retroarch UI ? This one is just baffling me big time, everything should work just fine. I know computers can be finicky at times but damn this is weird.
