  1. Yes, Jason updates (he's supposed to at least) the database file every month, it gets downloaded when you do an import and it says updating metadata. In theory maybe, though I can't say for certain because I never tried it and the Mame Full Set Importer does not directly import rom files like other platforms.
  2. You can put your roms wherever you like but you need to tell Mame where they are located. Also when you do your import into LB if it asks to copy or move tell LB to leave them where they are.
  3. All 3 rom sets are now fully compatible with Launchbox when using the Mame FullSet Import tool. Take a look at the tutorial video here: As for question #3 I really can't give you an answer to that one because Associated Platforms do matter for Launchbox. Now as for your decision on what rom set to use I can only say this. If you are planning on having all the games just use a Split or Merged set because it is smaller. If you want to have a much smaller hand picked selection of games the I would use (I actually do use for this purpose) the Non Merged set and pick out the games I want. The reason for this is because each zip file is a fully self contained working game with all the necessary bios / parent files which you would also have to pull out if you used a Split or Merged set in this way. Also welcomes to the forums and feel free to ask questions but we do have lots of written guides here and video guides on the YouTube channel.
  4. I can't say one way or the other, I do not use MAMEUI64 but I can say that the batch file will do nothing because the executable is named differently is it not ?
  5. I made a batch file to do it as well, just drop it in your Mame folder and double click it if you wanna try that. Also take a look in your Mame\ini folder, maybe there is one in there preventing a new one from being created. Mame Ini Generator.bat
  6. Do you have a complete set ? Does that set match your Mame version ? Did you tell Mame where your roms are located ? Do your games work through Mame on its own outside of Launchbox ?
  7. Make sure that you are telling Launchbox to use the correct core, you may have it loading a different version of the core.
  8. You don't have to do it on a per game basis at all, just per emulator and then if you need per game controller setups you can do it depending on the emulator. Both Retroarch and Mame allow for easy per game controller setups. I also advise having a cheap wireless keyboard hooked up just in case you do need it. We are talking about Windows here and occasionally having a keyboard is extremely handy.
  9. If Launchbox isn't even starting up for you with a fresh Windows install my first guess would be you are missing a .NET or DirectX update. Make sure you have both of those libraries up to date with the latest installs of them.
  10. Which tutorials ? I know there have been some small changes made but for the most part they should all still be relevant.

  12. I still stand by my original post in this thread. Altirra is regarded as the most accurate and controls are annoying to setup, Kat5200 is extremely good and easy to setup while Mame is ok it has issues like broken controls in certain game. I cannot comment on Rainbow as I have never used it or even scene it talked about before. I have used the 800 core in Retroarch and it is fine and functional from my use but that is all I can say. My personal favourite of the 4 I have experience with is Kat5200, easy to setup and supports some basic 1 pass shaders from Retroarch (if you care about CRT effects).
  13. For the specific case scenario you are describing I think I would go with a Pi. Can Launchbox do it ? Yes but it's still a Windows based PC and I don't think i'd ever want to be 100% keyboardless because things do happen with PCs where it's nice to have one even if it's a small wireless one.
  14. Jason looked into this earlier today and I believe he is hoping to have a fix for it in the next beta.
  15. Not that I am aware of, I don't believe ePSXe has any support for loading different per game configs via command line. Off the top of my head the easiest thing to do would be to have a 2nd install of ePSXe setup different and tell the games you want to load with that emulator.
  16. The difference is that depending on the emulator being used it's illegal to charge money to use it. Many emulators do not allow its use in a "commercial environment", some are fine with it. Also, charging people to play roms you don't legally is even more illegal than just downloading those roms. So if you are using this in a commercial setting it is wrong and illegal and if you are just charging your friends who come over to your house I can't imagine them wanting to be your friend anymore.
  17. Good to hear, for whatever reason which I have no clue why Mame doesn't seem to want to function properly through LB with the mame.ini file in the \ini sub folder
  18. That's a really strange looking screen, i've never seen that before with RA and the Beetle core, but it is telling you that you don't have the bios.
  19. Do your games work in RA on its own ? If so the first thing I see wrong in your setup is your disk images are zipped in 7zip format but you don't have the "Extract ROM archive" box enabled in the Edit Emulator window.
