What game and translation patch specifically ? Can you link to the patch ? Usually there are instructions with the patch as to what you need to do.
-
That is really strange and not something I have seen before when using a matching emulator and rom set and its all working outside of LB. If it all works outside and some games are working inside then all games should be working in Launchbox as well.
-
Can you try a couple of things ? 1) If you are a premium user download my Bad Old Monkey theme and see if it resolves the issue. 2) If you have the old 10.7 installer in your Launchbox\Updates folder install that over top of your current install to roll back to 10.7 and see if that resolves the issue. This will help figure out if it is the theme or something else in 10.9 causing the issue.

Yes, just right click the platform in and edit it, just make sure to make the same changes in any associated platforms for the emulators as well or they wont work.

Reall off topic for the thread but here:

mame.ini

You did say that some games are working through Launchbox though correct ?
-
The 10.8 update had some performance issues in Launchbox itself and then Jason released 10.9 which fixed those but there shouldn't be any additional performance problems. The LB Options and Mame games open up fast here for me. Try rolling back to your 10.7 install if you still have the installer in your \Updates folder and see if that solves the problem.

If some games work while others don't then it sounds like either your rom set is incompatible but my guess is since you say it's a matching set then maybe your set is incomplete set and missing files being required.

You can easily build your own though by getting Mupen64 here: https://mupen64plus.org/ Get a GUI for it here: https://github.com/dh4/mupen64plus-qt/releases Get the GLideN64 plugin for it here: https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/releases

Yeah at the time of the recommendation Mupen64 + GUI was not behind a pay wall. PJ64 2.3.2 is fine and no adware but there is a potential nag screen which can be disabled in the ini file. Nowadays I recommend using Retroarch and the Mupen64plus core (it has GLideN64 built in) or you can just use the command line version of Mupen64 or find a copy of the pay walled one.

Sounds like a platform naming issue, make sure the name of the platform you have your roms imported is matched up with the name in the associated platforms of the emulator you are using for them.

I see no reason this should be added to the DB. After looking this up because I had no idea of its existence all it is is just Chinese ports of Nintendo games for the Chinese market and not a completely different system. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQue "The iQue Player is a micro variant of a home video game console by iQue that plays ports of Nintendo 64 games. It was uniquely designed to bypass China's ban on home console products placed at the time. 14 games came out for the console. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and a Traditional Chinese translation of Ocarina of Time were completed, but not released by iQue." It had a very limited selection of games and there isn't even a proper emulator for it though apparently there are some decrypted roms in the .z64 format which I would imagine work in the current N64 emultors. http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Nintendo_64_emulators#iQue_Player_emulation So yeah, if you have the roms and they work in whatever N64 emulator you are using just make a new platform called iQue and import your roms but scrape as N64 to get game media and metadata. In my opinion adding this to the DB would be akin to adding the SNES mini, pointless.

Not as far as I am aware of but it's not something I keep tabs on. I'd imagine with all the different controllers out and the the fact that people would have custom mappings it would make the project more of a custom personal thing rather than something to be easily shared.

Noob question using x-arcade in Launchbox
Lordmonkus replied to GuitarMan's topic in Troubleshooting
Launchbox is meant to be controlled via mouse with some keyboard inputs, not navigated via keyboard or even a controller really though it can sort of do it. -

Jason uploaded a performance friendly theme with 3 options, one of which removes the blur and shadows here: I think you can use them as a free user. If you have a premium license you can try out one of my themes which are based off Jasons defaults but modified to my liking, https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/category/30-launchbox-custom-themes/

I have no way of testing since I don't have a Windows 98 machine setup but according to this website https://www.dosgamers.com/sega/kega-fusion-sega-emulator you need Windows XP or newer. As for older versions of Fusion I have no clue. Edit: Oh wait, maybe Windows 98 will work according to this site https://www.carpeludum.com/kega-fusion/

It just depends on the emulator and how much crazy stuff you want to do with it or force it to do which isn't built in.
-
That will depend on your setup. I don't use either so for me the answer is no. I don't use any external software in my setup, just LB and emulators. Your setup and needs may differ.

It was Jasons theme, he removed the blur and shadows to improve performance, I only made the tweaks listed in the description. Yeah, I prefer my old theme as well but there was no way to backport the new Retroachievements gamerscore into it so I had to redo the important settings in this new theme. Now I am waiting and hoping Jason gives us a toggle for the dynamic box art resizing. It is something I dislike very much and want the choice to turn it off because it makes LB "feel" stuttery when scrolling through the games.

I don't think you really understand what is being asked here. First off Launchbox is a commercial product which means Jason makes money off of it. This would mean that Jason would not only have to reprogram Launchbox to run under Linux (or be it's own operating system which is extremely time intensive. This also means that Jason would have to re write many emulators himself which is also extremely time intensive. The reason he would have to do this is because many of the "free" emulators out there are released under a license which prohibits their use in a commercial product. I know this isn't exactly like what you are asking here but people in the past have asked Jason to fully integrate and include Retroarch / Libretro cores into Launchbox which Jason did look into and asked the Retroarch team for permission to do. The denied this request citing the exact reason above, Launchbox is a commercial product and against the license of many of their cores. RetroPie can do what they do because it is a 100% free and open source project while Launchbox is not. I think Launchbox not only survives but thrives in the front end scene because of the fact it is a commercial product, Jason can afford to take care of his family and work on it full time. This allows for the quantity and quality of updates which leaves all other front ends behind. If it didn't then people wouldn't be willing to pay 50$ for a lifetime license in a scene filled with other paid and free front ends. Launchbox looks the best and is the easiest to setup and leaves people with their choice of emulators and rom sets to use.

Yeah, as far as I am aware the file names didn't change.
