  1. I like rail shooters a lot... Panzer Dragoon games are my favorites. For 2d shooters, there's so many good ones, it's hard to pick one or two, but I would have to throw a vote in for Radiant Silvergun, which blows me away each time I play it even if it is too hard for me.
  2. Actually, I'm just going to use the merged set, so if this info isn't helpful, just ignore.
  3. If I use the MAME importer to import a split romset, same one I have used in the past, which came from the same source most of the people on these forums are using to acquire roms, shouldn't it be looking for the roms named for a split set and finding them?
  4. So, I removed my split romset and dropped into the same MAME rom folder a complete merged set, went back to Launchbox and it immediately started launching the games properly with no additional changes... so, it really looks like there is some problem with the split romset support.
  5. Yes... it's the correct path.
  6. Launches fine from MAME... will not launch in Launchbox.
  7. I've finally tried the MAME importing feature (first time since Lightspeed)... the first thing I am really missing here is a playlist for filtering Horizontal and Vertical games. This was a very useful filter I had set up with Lightspeed importer and I would really like it if it could be added.
  8. Does the MAME importing only work with a merged or split set? I've just run the importer and when I try to launch a game I get a rom not found message.
  9. As much as I enjoy Visual Pinball and like to see people playing it, the roms are IP and, while easily obtainable at other sites, this site is hardcore about sharing links to anything like that. I would recommend just going to vpinball.com, which is a great site where you can get all this stuff. *edit* Not to mention, the people that made these table recreations actively post there and you can thank them for the tables, get technical help, and even get involved in designing table recreations if that's something you might get into.
  10. It doesn't look like they offer drivers, either, so for your hardware, what type of sound do you have? Motherboard? or USB? I updated the USB drivers for my motherboard recently and it reset some of my sound card stuff, even though my sound card is PCI, so you might want to check on things related to your sound hardware and USB.
  11. Hey camboico, did they give you drivers for the stick? If so, do you have the same problems if you uninstall the drivers and plug the stick in?
  12. Did anyone mention Gunstar Heroes? That's a good one. Smash TV was a good suggestion also. There are many but those come to mind for me.
  13. The new MAME wizard does some of what Lightspeed did. You don't get all the custom metadata fields and with LS it was a lot easier to go back and make changes, etc... As far as Antropus being rude, that is absurd. He was one of the most helpful and nice guys on this forum. He got busy with job and family and stopped working on this. Simple as that. Anyone that doesn't know that obviously wasn't around when he was active here. There really isn't anything else to say about this. Lightspeed was a very useful tool... it's a dead project... Jason has done his best to fill in some of those features with the MAME wizard. Nothing else to talk about.
  14. I'm looking at MAMEui now and it does look like it has the option to set multiple games to portrait... can't remember what other options I liked from MAMEuifx, but I think that was the main thing, so I should be good to go. Thanks for the help.
  15. Anything that still incorporates the MAMEuifx extras like screen rotation, etc... or might otherwise be a successor?
  16. I may have asked this question in the past, and if so I apologize... I'm updating my MAME setup to .202, and with MAMEuifx being toast, what is the best MAME version that people are using now? Thanks for the help.
  17. Really nice... seems much faster and did not seem to need to rebuild a bunch of stuff after the beta upgrade. Very cool.
  18. This post definitely supports my suggestion, above.
  19. The new image caching is great... thanks for adding that. One thing I might suggest is, instead of LB waiting until you highlight a platform to start building the thumbnails... just go ahead and do the whole thing on the first launch. I would much rather wait the 1-2 minutes for them to be ready and then have smooth scrolling and images throughout the entire library. *edit* Another related suggestion... I know there is the little green progress bar at the top, but it would probably be beneficial to have a little popup that says "building cache, please wait" (or something like that)... the reason that I suggest this is that there are people that aren't going to wait 1 minute until it's done before they hit the forums saying their LB is running very slow. So, it would mainly save Jason and the moderation team some headache.
  20. Definitely don't want progress to be held back by old potato computers.
  21. So, the thumbnails are not being rebuilt? Because as you scroll through your game list, the thumbnails populate very, very slowly... as if they are being repeatedly created as you scroll games onto the screen. But you are saying this is because the optimization for displaying the images is poor? Just making sure I understand. Ultimately, I think for new users, especially, but for all users really, it is the same effect. The scrolling through game thumbnails is one of the main things you see when you are using LB, so it can lead a person to think that the software is slow, or "unoptimized", even though it's really just a thing with the thumbnails.
  22. I know this has been mentioned several times, but want to bring it up again with the upcoming Launchbox.next replacing Launchbox... the image caching and cache rebuilding is slow and clunky... the user has to scroll through all the games and wait for them to cache instead of the cache automatically rebuilding in the background... it's been discussed and Jason has acknowledged it. The reason I'm bringing it up again is that new users, etc... that are seeing Launchbox.next as the main element for the first time are probably going to be turned off by this problem, as it is very, visually obvious. Thanks for considering.
  23. Open in MS Paint and "save as" .jpg to your desktop or something... see if that fixes it. Alternatively, rename as .png before you open in MS Paint, then save as .jpg.
  24. Was I the only one that had this error? Maybe because I have some custom categories? Dunno. Anyway, I did some quick and limited testing, but it seems to be all worked out as of beta 11. Thanks.
  25. I was just changing between categories in "arrange by" and got this guy: The root Visual of a VisualTarget cannot have a parent. App: LaunchBox Version: 8.3-beta-10 Type: System.ArgumentException Site: Void SetRootVisual(System.Windows.Media.Visual) Source: PresentationCore There's a bunch more to it I will report the error through LB.
