  1. I'm looking at MAMEui now and it does look like it has the option to set multiple games to portrait... can't remember what other options I liked from MAMEuifx, but I think that was the main thing, so I should be good to go. Thanks for the help.
  2. Anything that still incorporates the MAMEuifx extras like screen rotation, etc... or might otherwise be a successor?
  3. I may have asked this question in the past, and if so I apologize... I'm updating my MAME setup to .202, and with MAMEuifx being toast, what is the best MAME version that people are using now? Thanks for the help.
  4. Really nice... seems much faster and did not seem to need to rebuild a bunch of stuff after the beta upgrade. Very cool.

  6. The new image caching is great... thanks for adding that. One thing I might suggest is, instead of LB waiting until you highlight a platform to start building the thumbnails... just go ahead and do the whole thing on the first launch. I would much rather wait the 1-2 minutes for them to be ready and then have smooth scrolling and images throughout the entire library. *edit* Another related suggestion... I know there is the little green progress bar at the top, but it would probably be beneficial to have a little popup that says "building cache, please wait" (or something like that)... the reason that I suggest this is that there are people that aren't going to wait 1 minute until it's done before they hit the forums saying their LB is running very slow. So, it would mainly save Jason and the moderation team some headache.

  8. So, the thumbnails are not being rebuilt? Because as you scroll through your game list, the thumbnails populate very, very slowly... as if they are being repeatedly created as you scroll games onto the screen. But you are saying this is because the optimization for displaying the images is poor? Just making sure I understand. Ultimately, I think for new users, especially, but for all users really, it is the same effect. The scrolling through game thumbnails is one of the main things you see when you are using LB, so it can lead a person to think that the software is slow, or "unoptimized", even though it's really just a thing with the thumbnails.

I know this has been mentioned several times, but want to bring it up again with the upcoming Launchbox.next replacing Launchbox... the image caching and cache rebuilding is slow and clunky... the user has to scroll through all the games and wait for them to cache instead of the cache automatically rebuilding in the background... it's been discussed and Jason has acknowledged it. The reason I'm bringing it up again is that new users, etc... that are seeing Launchbox.next as the main element for the first time are probably going to be turned off by this problem, as it is very, visually obvious. Thanks for considering.
  10. Open in MS Paint and "save as" .jpg to your desktop or something... see if that fixes it. Alternatively, rename as .png before you open in MS Paint, then save as .jpg.
  11. Was I the only one that had this error? Maybe because I have some custom categories? Dunno. Anyway, I did some quick and limited testing, but it seems to be all worked out as of beta 11. Thanks.

  13. One note on the platforms sidebar... I have a good bit more room that I could reduce it in size past the "minimum" size. I'd like to suggest removing the minimum size restriction so that we can make it even more narrow, if we prefer, as this might allow for another column of game thumbnails.

  15. Yes... I made a post about this previously. It would be nice if LB could pre-cache the thumbnails so you don't have to scroll through all of your games to prompt it to create thumbnails. Also, it seems to need to re-build the thumbnails, as you said, frequently.
  16. Yeah, you should be able to do it with Lightspeed, but it doesn't work with new versions of LB if I recall correctly. I have my data files from an older version that I set up with lightspeed and it still works fine. The amount of info, etc that you could import with lightspeed was way beyond what LB can do for MAME.
  17. Ok, sounds good... I actually haven't had a num pad on a keyboard for some time.
  18. It seems like the keyboard shortcuts for zoom in and out aren't working, unless I'm just being dense and clicking the wrong buttons somehow.
  19. Now that there is a hide games missing "x" artwork feature, I would like to mention a request I made ages ago... maybe it's closer in reach now. It would be great if we could "show" games missing "x" artwork... this feature would make it super easy to find games that need artwork added to them.
  20. I tried again today and the whole thing downloaded. For the game details... I agree with Lordmonkus, it looks cleaner and more symmetrical in the original style. I would move the slider/scroll bar for the games area to the right of the game details. It looks weird wedged in between the two areas (or maybe just some blank space between the game thumbnails and scrollbar). Another note... it would be nice if Launchbox would pre-build the thumbnail cache so that any time it needs rebuilt, you wouldn't have to scroll through them to get them to build as they scroll onto the screen, but would already be built so you could just cleanly scroll through the images. It seems like it needs to rebuild them frequently.
  21. The beta download is stuck at about 30% for me.
  22. Does the "splash screen" option in the main preferences affect that?
  23. I noticed, just now, that if you are using LaunchBox.next is doesn't prompt for the update. When I switched to regular LB I immediately got the prompt.
  24. Got it all working now... Saturn emulation at full speed is a beautiful thing.
  25. It sounds like there are some glitches with it... like it won't override certain settings, etc...
