Yeah, a forstner bit is best... I found out that I didn't have a 1 1/8 forstner just before I started so I ended up using a spade bit (which I definitely would not be comfortable using on plexi), which worked on the mdf in the X-Arcade, but it is not what I like to use. If you have mdf under the plexi be prepared for a big mess because it's going to make a lot of dust and spray it everywhere. I held a shop vac close to the press while I was drilling and it still made a mess. Wear a mask. I like the X-Arcade in that everything really is pretty easy to upgrade... the downside is that you really need to upgrade some stuff.

It was pretty easy to add, Jason. You just want to make sure you take your time and measure everything carefully. I have a drill press, so that helped, but you could do it with a corded hand drill.

Antropus said I had this one, my very first videogame console ever, back in Brazil... around 1981-82 or so :) Haha... classic.

sadesh said Yeah, I had one of this, but now it has completely gone to the garage. Hah... I heard that. It's probably not one you want to break out that often. I was thinking about it, though... if my parents had that thing for a while before I started playing it, during the 2600 era, that would have been my earliest experience with retro-gaming. :)
  6. Awesome... sounds like a good update. Dark Souls 3 comes out today, so I may be a while reporting back, but I will definitely try it soon. :P
  7. Nice... I guess that must be the only way they were able to emulate those discrete logic games.
  8. Well, I just looked in my full split set and I also don't have a breakout.zip (even though the breakout.zip art works) so those files must be in some parent, even though it isn't listed as a clone. *edit* Ok, I looked in the pong.zip (the source for Breakout is pong.cpp) to see what files where in there and the only thing is pong.netlist... lol. So, I have no idea. o_O
  9. I saw the TTL in the game title, but honestly have no idea what that even means. *edit* Just found this... good information from scree https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/emulation/discrete-logic-ttl-arcade-game-emulation *edit* So, sounds like the "chd" equivalent, or the file that the TTL games need is in the zip file?
  10. Jason Carr said One thing I'm noticing that would be really nice to fix (though it might not be easy) is that the paths to the ROM files are absolute, which breaks portability. For example, the paths come over like this: D:\Dropbox\LaunchBox\Games\MAME\example.zip Instead, if you can manage to make the path relative like this, portability would be maintained: Games\MAME\example.zip Would that prevent me from keeping my roms in folder outside the LB structure? Because none of my roms are in those folders.
  11. scree said It doesn't seem to be included in the full Mame 0.172 romset. At least I couldn't find it. Well, that might explain why I have it in my set because I got the .171-.172 upgrade set. I seem to remember it always being there, though... at least for a long time. Regardless, here are semi-official Breakout and Destroyer artwork packs, from the mameworld forums, for everyone to enjoy. They look great and may not be in your official art packs. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B83sfaum07QoRmFqMjgzekszZTQ&usp=sharing
  12. Not sure... it is in my MAMEUIFX, but doesn't import to LB. *edit* Atari Destroyer did import in the new version, but Breakout did not. *edit* On a side note... as I'm testing the new version I was thinking one thing that might be nice for down the road is if Lightspeed would write your directories to a cfg/ini file so you don't have to fill them each time.
  13. Breakout is breakout.zip... it's the original "Arkanoid" game, by Atari.
  14. I was looking for a couple older games last night and noticed they hadn't been imported. Breakout and Atari Destroyer. Both are working games... are they included in another filter, or is that not intended?

And they are rolling out virtual reality now. Won't be long until people are plugged into a VR machine full time and fed intravenously so they can play virtual reality MMO's full time.

Haha... yeah, totally retro ugly. I found this picture online and it reminded me of the console. The two little paddles lift out of the console and are connected by a wire that you had to stuff back up inside there to get the paddles back in place.

DOS76 said Before my time. They were still around in the Atari 2600 days... I remember we had both at the same time. The Pong didn't get as much love, of course. It's tough to compete with Yar's Revenge. :P

I got the turbo twist 2 from Groovy Game Gear, with a couple add-ons it was like $90.

I just ordered a spinner for the control panel, so out of anticipation, I think, decided to do a custom Tempest bezel.
  21. With missing custom data... such as control type, for example (there are many games that do not have a control type listed, which is valuable info for sorting and things like Ultimap, etc) can the custom fields be integrated into the new community update feature so that we can all update the info for the general pool in the database? I guess that's a question more for Jason, but also the cool thing about these projects being merged.
  22. One other thing that might possibly come into play with ":" vs "-" is that ":" is not valid in folder names. With talk about features that will move roms... if, at some point, you wanted to have files moved into folders named after the file, it won't work. Probably won't ever be an issue, but something to think about.
  23. Hey Jason, the source field, on mine at least, is the source file for the rom... or the "family" that the rom is in... for instance the NeoGeo games are neogeo_noslot.cpp. This is the same info that shows in MAMEUI's source field. This would be useful for sorting... for instance if you wanted to look at the neogeo games... arrange by source.

I started doing some for the landscape orientation games as well. Here's one I just finished for Gauntlet.
