  1. Ok, I was afraid that might be the case... thanks for the replies and help.
  2. Hey Antropus... just wanted to bring this conversation to your attention to see if you might know the best way to add an individual clone from a merged set. If you have any ideas, most appreciated. https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/troubleshooting/import-clone-from-merged-set#p13563
  3. DOS76 said I thought last time I used ClearMAMEPro it didn't work because it didn't create any new ROMs but now that I think about it would a merged set get new ROMs or would new files just be added to your old ones. Derek, I thought it just pulled the clone files out and re-zipped them into the individual re-named zip files... but I'm scared to try it for fear of messing up my set or having to reconfigure multiple emulators... lol.
  4. SentaiBrad said If all you want to do is add this 1 game you can force import anything, including duplicates (at least as far as LB see's) so my reply still holds true, just manually add the game. Obviously this doesn't work for the entire set. Yeah, I see what you are saying and did try to manually add it... the problem is that my clones are merged into the same zips as the parents, so I don't know how to make LaunchBox find the clones from the same zip. I may be missing something and if you can tell me how to do it I really appreciate it. I am not always able to figure this stuff out on my own. :)
  5. DOS76 said I have the merged set of 170 myself and next time I update I'm getting the split set instead. I always used to get the merged sets, but I don't even remember the reason why. Maybe I thought it was more organized? Anyway, yeah... LaunchBox doesn't seem to work with the merged set as far as I can see. It's a shame Antropus' Lightspeed tool can't pull individual rom files. *edit* I guess I could run them through CLRMame, but I feel like that's going to have so many repercussions.

    Bezels

Thanks, Scree... I have the original .lay file set from Mr. Do's, and what started this all is that a lot of the original bezels (which are always my preferred if they fit correctly) don't really fit correctly and don't look so good. I'm using Metalzoic's from the RL forums as a starting point... I like them because they have the really thin top and bottom frame so you get the most screen space. So, my opinion is the frame on top looks best, and the thin top and bottom frame looks super best. That's just my thoughts though. My Photoshopping skills are pretty much figure it out as I go, but I have been having fun with it anyway. Finding a bunch of neat tricks you can do to get the best bezel for each game, using LB to switch between RL and MAME as the emulator so that I can have the bezel type I want for each game. Still have to do my default vertical. Anyway, post some screenshots when you get them done! :)
  7. I thought the checkbox to import the clones would work, but I think because it's a merged set only 1 game is being imported, which is the parent.
  8. My MAME romset is merged. How can I import a single clone (ex. Pac-Man Midway) into LaunchBox?

    Bezels

After much effort, I have finally got a default bezel for games without a bezel in MAME. I used the RocketLauncher method, which was a bit tricky for me, personally, to figure out. Anyway, I designed a simple 80's retro, Tron-style grid for the default bezel (just used some graphics I found online for the grid). I may add a gradient background or something later, but I'm glad to have it up and running. I got some other nice RL compatible bezels from the RL forums for specific games as well. Thanks to everyone in this thread for the advice. Here's what I came up with.

    RocketLauncher

I've made some progress with setting up RL, and I can now launch MAME games from the RLui. However, I'm not having any luck launching RL from LaunchBox as an emulator (lol... I read that sentence back to myself and wonder if this is worth it). So, when I try to launch the game with Launchbox the jeering RL error message pops up and tells me that there is no default emulator set in RL, even though I have set the default emulator and can even launch games from the RLui. Any guidance is really appreciated. Thanks. *edit* I finally got it! lol... it was a simple oversight on my part, but I can now launch Launchbox, which can launch RocketLauncher, which can launch MAME with a default bezel. whew
  11. nyny77 said Hi, My name is Tony (France) It's possible add video system (intro) ? Ex : http://hpics.li/b6f4296 Thank you very Much That would be awesome if it could play the bios opening or something. Good idea.
  12. I have never tried a save state in Demul but I can test it... what's the key for save and load?

    Bezels

Oh... those Rocketlauncher and Hyperspin bezels aren't the same as the MAME formatted ones. If you are trying to use those directly in MAME it won't work. You will need to get the format that Scree mentioned, above. As for help on Hyperspin or RL, I cannot help you. I've been trying to figure RL out recently and every time I look at it my head wants to implode. I have some nice bezel files that will only work in RL so that is my only motivation to try to use it.
  14. On a related note... is there any way to use your filters from Lightspeed to move the rom files that are filtered to another folder? The reason I would want to do this is so that my games list in MAME matches Launchbox.

    MAME sorting

Is there any way to sort MAME games, or filter, by whether the game has artwork? Also, is there anyway to change the "enforce aspect ratio" from within game... such as map to a hotkey? Thanks for any tips!
  16. Antropus said Assuming you have a mame collection of roms and artwork living in your HDD: - Did the program import your mame roms collection correctly? - Was the metadata parsed correctly? - Is your local artwork showing up correctly in LaunchBox? - When you double click a game, does it launch correctly? - Was the process fast or slow in your machine? - Did you try the MameUI lists Importer module? Did it work? - Are the current filters working for you? Did you notice any inconsistency, like a game that was supposed to be playable (and you are sure is in your roms folder) not showing up in the library? Ok, I don't think I have used the most recent version, but I am waiting on the lock emulator version (which is sounding pretty cool) to do a demul setup. Anyway... - The program imported my games perfectly. I had to run it twice but I think I had LB open and minimized the first time so that was on me. - The metadata has been perfect as far as I can see. I ran thru a ton of games last night while I was taking some screenshots and didn't see any problems. The only game I did notice was 1942 had duplicates of every line of metadata entry. It was the only game I saw like this and it corrected itself when I ran one of the later betas. - Local artwork has been great. I couldn't find a way to display cabinet shots in LB because I was out of places for art. I ended up putting it in the "back cover" art, but that doesn't display in the details section. That's a LB thing though... no worries. - Every game has launched perfectly except for the .7z problem, which is fixed and CPS3. - The process was insanely fast. I love the filters so much. - I tried to import my favorites folder from MAMEUIFX and the only .ini that was available to import (beside catver) was filter.ini... not sure if that was the one I was supposed to use but it didn't seem to import my favorites. - Filters are great... saves so much time. Only one left I could think of to add is Vs Nintendo. I noticed there were a small handful of card games left after the filters did their work... probably less than 20 games. I hope that is what you are looking for. I know some of it is redundant with what we already talked about but that's all I could think of.
  17. Thanks guys... that sounds like what I am looking for.
  18. Well, I thought I would follow up here with what I have done so far, in case anyone that happens to read this wants to mod their X-Arcade. I went with 2 Zippyy classic arcade joysticks. Supposedly, they are cheaper imitations of Seimetsu controllers but actually have a pretty good reputation for the cost. You can get 2 Zippyys with switch upgrades (quieter) and balltop handle upgrades from here: http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=371 shipped for $40. You will want to get an adapter plate from Paradise Arcade (their site is down so can't link). You want the Il version plate. It's a direct universal adapter that fits the X-Arcade with no modifications. The job is a bit of a pain, but something anyone can do. You just have to mount the joysticks using the adapter plate, then transfer the wires from the default X-Arcade sticks to the new ones, making sure you mark the positions of each wire. The X-Arcade has 2 prongs to transfer but the Zippyy had 3 prongs. I had to look it up but you want to match the bent prong on each one (that's the ground) and then use the second prong (closest to the bent one) for the second wire. The third prong is not used. I will attach a pic of what I ended up with. The sticks are low, like I wanted them, like a classic arcade stick... they do sell optional long shafts though. They play and feel much better than the default sticks, IMO. This was a pretty inexpensive upgrade, but I may eventually install 2 of the Ultrastiks, just because they are so cool. I can use the same mounting plate for those and the job should be a lot easier.
  19. Derek, I can't really tell from the picture, but is that thumb button a 4-way control that you could use for the dial in Tron?
  20. Been working on rebuilding my arcade controller, but should have some feedback for you this evening. :)
  21. Thanks for the reply... I would say I'm looking at the lower end of the price spectrum simply because I don't play any flight sim games... I'm just looking for something for Tron, Space Harrier, and some others. I don't need the stick with the separate throttle, etc (I don't think so anyway)... the real trick is just having a button on board I can use for a dial (a la Tron).
  22. Anyone have a recommendation for a PC flightstick that works well for a Tron controller? Need something with a thumb button on top that would work well for dial operation. Good for other flight games is a bonus. :) Thanks!
  23. Antropus said There's always a way to do it, but the question is always: is it worth the trouble? :) -Kris In my humble opinion... as I was using Lightspeed yesterday, one of the main things that stood out as something that would improve its usefulness would be the ability to add to, or change, things you did before. I think the main limitation was having to do everything in one session and roll back the .xml if you screwed it up or wanted changes.
  24. Antropus said Update coming soon: 4) Added "Play-Choice", "Bootleg" and "Tabletop" as new filters -Kris Sweet! Thanks... I thought of this too late but would Vs Nintendo be a good filter as well? I was deleting them manually last night and thought of it.
  25. Now that I have added my MAME roms the only spot I have left for cabinet shots is "back", so I was hoping to add those to the game details. *edit* It would be nice to be able to customize the game details panel more anyway... banners, etc...
