Just giving credit where credit is due. Thank you so much for making my Rocketlauncher experience better!
-
You don't have to rename your Arcade platform to get it to work with Rocketlauncher. The way around the naming thing is in the General Options section of the RocketLauncherUI tab in the RLUI, uncheck the Valid Emulators/Modules Only checkbox and then try launching the game through Launchbox/RL. I have my MAME set up this way and it launches just fine, as well as AAE which in LB is named Another Arcade Emulator but in RL it wants it to be named AAE. The bigger problem comes when you set up more systems that Launchbox wants set up in the Arcade Platform by default (just my opinion). There may be a few more settings to get things working the way you want but this setting here is the one that leads people to believe you have to have the platforms named the same. Its just not true. Being rigid and inflexible? Yeah I would agree with that but there are usually ways to whip RL into shape.

Importing ScummVM for use in Launchbox via Rocketlauncher - A Tutorial
JaysArcade replied to JaysArcade's topic in Videos
Thanks guys. I know RL isn't everyone's cup of tea but I figured some folks would like to give it a shot. It's powerful but definitely not user friendly. Hopefully this tutorial will help. -
Yeah maybe it's something Jason could look into if you submitted a ticket. I struggle with massive amounts of stuff too. I've recently become more selective with the games I import to begin with which helps immensely. Good luck with your configurations.

In platform selection you can select All in Launchbox and do a search. It should bring up all instances of your search across all platforms. Then you could ctrl-a and delete that way. I'm not sure there is any other way at the moment to delete all in a series. Doesn't seem that hard to me but maybe I don't understand what you're asking.

MAN SCUMMVM has me pulling my beard hair out!
JaysArcade replied to smallsbig's topic in Troubleshooting
Yeah maybe native support was a bad choice of words. I'm not implying Launchbox can't do it. Just that it is easier to do in Rocketlauncher at the moment and maybe a better solution as well. Editing over 200 games manually doesn't sound like my idea of fun. -

I created a tutorial on using ScummVM with Launchbox and Rocketlauncher. Hopefully this will help until we get a fix in place for native Launchbox support. -
Rocket Launcher: A Half-Baked Tutorial + Launchbox Integration
JaysArcade replied to JaysArcade's topic in Videos
I just created a tutorial on how to import ScumVM titles for use with Rocketlauncher and Launchbox. Check it out. -
I've updated the video tutorial for setting up ScummVM with Launchbox and Rocketlauncher. Please let me know if you find that it doesn't work or you run into any issues with the new video. Your voice is heard here. Thanks. Go to this link for the files used in this video. https://mega.nz/#!m8ZVSS7Z!GCNRE6b_MvY3CcfV_t_qSb5cSFcM0AtA4xyZTtjvZkU I've read that some people are having issues using ScummVM within Launchbox. I understand Jason has some potential fixes in mind to make importing ScummVM a simpler process (hell, he may have already fixed this for all I know), but in the mean time, you can still use ScummVM if you use Rocketlauncher with Launchbox. Hopefully, this tutorial will still be relevant once Launchbox is in a place where it can natively open ScummVM titles without making you jump through a bunch of extra hoops. I think it will still be useful since Rocketlauncher gives us the ability to use bezels and fade screens. It is my hope that in the future, Launchbox will have features that supplant the need to use Rocketlauncher at all, but until then, using Rocketlauncher to do some of this stuff is your best option. It was my intention while creating this tutorial to make it easy to understand. I have tried to go from beginning to end to show how to get things running. What I have not shown is how and where to download Launchbox, Rocketlauncher, or the the ScummVM roms (7z files) from or how to install them. I have also not shown how to set up fade screens, bezels, pause or any other features in Rocketlauncher, although I do show a brief demo of some of those features in action. I may make a video in the future showing you how to set those up, but for now, this tutorial is all I have planned. I can probably answer any basic questions you may have about setting this up, but in all honesty, you are probably better off going to the Rocketlauncher forum for Rocketlauncher specific problems. Hope this is a big help to you guys.

Any talented theme creators wishing to take on this?
JaysArcade replied to m693663's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
Nah man, you supply your own gas via another attachment.... -
Yeah there is a youtuber that Simply Austin mentioned a while back. He goes by the name RetroHumanoid. The links to all his fade stuff are in one of his videos. He's got some good stuff on there that he created himself. Check it out. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeP60Vc-kRYCiJ1y2PvxryA

That makes sense. I'll try that.

I was having issues with overlays being drawn on one system after setting them up on another - particularly with Genesis, Gamegear and Master System. I would save the settings for the Game Gear overlay and everything looked good. Open Genesis, and it opened with the Game Gear overlay. I must have been saving my setup wrong somehow. It seems like the overlay was saving per core and not per system. If you have any advice in that type of situation, I'm all ears.

Nice tutorial @lordmonkus! If you add anything, I would like to see something explaining how the custom configs work and what to do and what not to do, how to set them up, etc. I struggle with that in retroarch. I even use separate installs to keep the stuff segregated so there are no conflicts. I know the custom configs will overcome the need for this, but its so confusing. I know there are the video tutorials but the written instructions are easier for me to understand. I think Launchbox needs more tutorials like this.
-
Thanks. Maybe that's where I went wrong when I tried it. Maybe I'll have another go at it this weekend but in Rocketlauncher instead. I have to have those custom fade screens and pause menu.
-
Great! Using Retroarch by itself or with Rocketlauncher? I couldn't get any of it to line up in Retroarch either way. Glad you got it to work.

If you read the rocketlauncher notes for the DeSmuME module, they say to do this: ;Open DeSmuME and change the settings to - Uncheck View->Show Toolbar; Set View->Screen seperation to black, also choose your border (I prefer 5px); Open the desmume.ini and add "Show Console=0" anywhere to stop the console window from showing up; Per-game vertical/rotation settings can be controlled via the module settings in RocketLauncherUI
-
Nothing. I only mention them to help you figure out the settings. Each module has notes that give you help in setting up each emulator. If you read the notes, you will probably be able to figure out how to set up the emulator with Rocketlauncher. I'm sorry I confused you.
-
I don't think so.
-
These notes are settings to check in DeSmuME. See this page for info on accessing the module notes. http://www.rlauncher.com/wiki/index.php?title=RLUI_Modules Make sure you have the DeSmuME module selected before clicking on the module notes button.

And don't forget the module notes in Rocketlauncher. ; Uncheck View->Show Toolbar ; Set View->Screen seperation to black, also choose your border (I prefer 5px) ; Open the desmume.ini and add "Show Console=0" anywhere to stop the console window from showing up ; Per-game vertical/rotation settings can be controlled via the module settings in RocketLauncherUI
