Resolved - Overall Problem with LaunchBox DB - Informational
neil9000 replied to GTXMike's topic in Troubleshooting
Just checking in, did you manage to grab the data you uploaded yesterday? -
Cheers @Zombeaver, you got more knowledge on this than me, i need to start my psx from scratch including grabbing the roms, so i will also look into the .m3u thing never done that before. I fact i have never created a .m3u period so ill check out your instructions also.

Yeah it IS odd, launchbox should default to the first disc, unless you specifically change it manually which you say you haven't so i am at a bit of a loss to be honest. I don't recall hearing of this happening before, but i could be wrong. One thing i would check is that each disc is named exactly the same except for the disc number, it may be disc 4 has a capital letter the others don't or something like that, making it appear at the top of the list as it's a different name??
-
That's strange it shouldn't of changed by itself. If you right click the game and choose edit, then go to additional apps, it should list the discs there click on disc 1, then click the make default button. That should fix it for you.

I believe all licences have been sent out by now, it may of just been a coincidence of someone else having a similar name to yourself. I would check your spam folder though just to be safe.

Apparently they are making more this time. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-06-26-nintendo-confirms-snes-mini

Yeah i am using a xbox one wireless controller with the wireless dongle and it works just fine. So for anyone discovering this later the drivers come as part of the Windows 10 OS so it should work out of the box. Any OS older will require a driver download to get working.

LOL, it's not a pointless post it's a valid one. We are currently in the process of upgrading the backend of the database, and when that is all complete all that info will be readily available there for users to read through. But it's still a work in progress and i'm afraid i don't have a ETA for that at the moment, but rest assured it is planned. -

Hi there and welcome to the community. This isn't actually a problem, see the actual launchbox database is only updated once a day, so if your submissions have been successful they will be rolled into the update for that day, i believe it is 12am US time, so if it was accepted today the info won't be available until tomorrow. Also you will have to update your local metadata, you can do this simply by trying to add a game with no current data, if there is new metadata to be downloaded you will be prompted to do so. Hope that helps. -

Doesn't launch Mame Roms. Program, not user, error in launchBox
neil9000 replied to Silentnight's topic in Troubleshooting
I would still say you have a error in your setup somewhere, i am using mameui 64 as well and mine is working just fine in launchbox. Do you have more than one mame install on your system? Are you sure launchbox is looking at the correct .exe? -
No probs, sorry for the confusion i was going off memory as wasn't at my launchbox system when i replied.
-
It's labelled as file names in bigbox and i got confused.
-
Sorry my bad, it's the show versions and it is checked in your shot, uncheck it.
-
Yeah launchbox is much easier to setup, i dabbled with hyperspin myself before i discovered launchbox and never looked back. As for retroarch once you get over that initial hump it's a great program to use and the fact that it is a universal ui for so many different systems it just makes everything so much easier, a option is in the same place for snes as it is for spectrum, where as if i was using stand alone for them absolutely everything would be different.
-
Yeah retroarch can seem a little weird when setting it up for the first time but once you get the hang of it it's fine, and works really well.
-
It looks like you have show file names on, go to view and uncheck show file names, and see if that fixes it for you.
-
You can re-bind you controller in retroarch just go to settings/input/input user 1 binds/ you can change specific buttons there or use the user1 bind all and it will run through all the buttons in order and you just press what button you want that on. You can also set hotkeys in that menu, so you could set a hotkey for the retroarch gui and quit the game from there. And here is my retroarch mame running at 720p.
-
Yeah same here, used it initially when it released but quickly reverted to the add files and windows search method. I just find that more precise as i can specify exactly what i want to import/add.
-
Yeah retroarch has issues scanning for mame roms, you can go to load content in the main menu and navigate to a rom on your system and load it, that will then be in your retroarch history tab for quick access again. Yeah start and select wont work while in mame it will do as you described, so just bring up the retroarch gui with whatever combo you have set and just navigate to the quit retroarch option.
-
Yeah i always forget about the drag and drop, probably as i run Launchbox fullscreen it never occurs to me as i can't see the desktop.
-
Yep, that's why i don't import folders, or use the scan for added roms features, i use the add files and use the windows search to filter at import, especially for systems with .cue and .bin as i can just show the .cue's with the windows search. I think the only system i imported the folder for was my mame import, and i don't scan for added roms for that, if/when i update my set i just delete the system and re-import whilst un-checking all the media downloads then run the update metadata and images wizard to grab any new stuff after the import.
-
I would assume that is expected behaviour, @Jason Carr would have to answer that one. For me personally though that makes sense to me, if it scans the folder and a new game is there but with the same name as a already imported game it probably just skips it as it's already in your library. But again only Jason will no how it's coded and if that is the case or not. Edit: What @DOS76 said.
