  1. Yep im a fan too, growing up in the 80's that's just how games from that era should look to me so i like to add it into my emulation.
  2. I like scanlines personally, Here is how my mame looks in retroarch.
  3. Yeah the save state stuff is handled by retroarch so it is the same across all systems, you can save by going into the ui, or you can set a hotkey combo and trigger it while in game.
  4. 1) That depends on the core that you are using generally speaking the 3D emulators can have there internal rendering increased, so N64 and Playstation can look a lot nicer than they should, but you need the relevant graphical power in your system. You can also add shaders to any core and there are 100's of different ones, some add scanlines some smooth out 2D graphics some add anti aliasing etc. This is the personal preference thing, only you can decide what looks good to you. 2) The main advantage with mame is you can upscale to 720p with that core, and like all the other ones you can add a shader of your choice to make it look better also. The MAME core in retroarch is also the 0.186 version so is just the same as you are currently using but with the upscale and shader benefits. Edit: Also with retroarch your controller will work with every system with very little if any setup, if it's a xbox 360 or equivalent pad it should just work out of the box for all systems.
  5. That's true, now i think about it. Yeah didn't bother me much as i just went the bulk edit route. Newcomers adding mame for the first time and trying to use retroarch though could end up with a very messy platform if the import wizard just adds everything. They will have adult games for starters, which should probably be a action you have to turn on rather than just being imported as standard, which is what will happen if they import mame with retroarch.
  6. Oh OK, i didn't see that though i also wasn't looking for it either, i was just waiting to get to the screen i assumed would show up at the end of the wizard. Though as i had already told launchbox that i was importing arcade (i just chose it from the dropdown) shouldn't it know it's arcade and give me that screen anyway?
  7. OK, it's the first time i imported mame with retroarch so wasn't sure. Basically though if i hadn't of stopped it, it would of imported every single rom which in my case is a non-merged and full chd set, so would of been a total mess after import.
  8. Hey @Jason Carr, I might of just found a little bug. I updated my mame romset today and also moved them so decided to delete the platform and re-import. When going through the import wizard i chose Retroarch as my emulator as that's what i want to use, however doing so meant that the mame import screen didn't show in the wizard (the one where you choose to import clones, choose a region, exclude adult etc.) so i cancelled the import. Then i started the import again this time choosing MAMEUI as the emulator and the mame importer screen showed this time and i was able to set the options i wanted, so I had to import with mame as the emulator then bulk edit to retroarch after the import. Is that the expected behaviour or a bug? Thanks Jason.
  9. They don't change enough from year to year for me to buy them every year, but yeah for some people FIFA or Madden are the reason they buy consoles and the only games they play. Mad.
  10. Yep, to fair being English i do like the FIFA games. I certainly don't by one every year though. And now i have EA Access on xbone i get them free after about 8 months or so, generally a little while before they put out the new one, so i just always play the previous years game.
  11. EA used to make cricket and rugby games, but they didn't make much money so they dropped them to concentrate on FIFA and MADDEN which make a shit ton of money for them.
  12. Yeah all the regional sports get games, we have a lot of development houses here so some make some low budget sport's games for markets that aren't the USA.
  13. Yeah of course, and Australia. Couldn't name any arcade ones though.
  14. The exit key in mame is the UICancel button, you can set it in the tab menu to any button you like, i have it on dpad down. It will take you back a screen when you are in the tab menu, but will quit mame if you are just playing a game.
  15. Ok fair enough, was just the first thing that came to mind as it still technically works and opens the program, thought it might be hidden. Weird one for sure though.
  16. Well i have never heard of that before. I wonder if the folder has been accidentally hidden? If you got to the folder that launchbox should be in and go to view at the top of the screen and check the show hidden checkbox, Does it come back?
  17. To be honest with you i always leave it on auto, maybe @spectral will have more insight as he seems to of changed it before so may be able to tell you the differences are.
  18. Look at my pic above, interlacing is the third option. Yep that is how my Tekken looked also and i couldn't fix it, sorry.
  19. Cool, yeah just grab the redist as well if that happens again, sometimes they add .dll's and if you are just updating retroarch it won't instal them automatically.
  20. @orac31 I believe that is why the redist was added as a option. Update v0.80 Beta https://stellarupdater.github.io Redist option added to the Download menu. If RetroArch has errors starting after update, run that option to install the latest Redistributables.
  21. @slipsystem still loving the plugin its working great and i am slowly building my collection back up after my HDD died. One little thing i have noticed though, in launchbox TV Show episodes are shown in ascending order, but in bigbox they are in descending order, so i have to scroll all the way to the bottom of a often long list to get to the first episode. Is that something that can be changed or just how bigbox works? Thanks again.
  22. Well i am running a gtx 770 and can get away with 3x native resolution, anything above that i see significant drops with some games while others are just fine so i leave it as that, so just play with the internal res till you find a acceptable balance. As for vertical lines i had the same issue on one of the tekken games as well. Unfortunately pcsx2 doesn't have full compatibility and some games will have a lot of graphical glitches. It's just the way it is unfortunately. As @spectral say's there are some hacks you can apply to games, but you will need to do that on a game by game basis.
  23. Fair enough then. And Cid came to the rescue anyway, so you should be all good now.
  24. Well there you go then. Cheers @CriticalCid.
