  1. There definitely some battle scares of many months of testing this non-stop, and as far as the last round went, all was well. When users report something like this we want to make sure they are testing in a way that produces as usable results as they can. We will be in-house testing this most likely during the next release cycle, but until then your help is much appreciated.
  2. Something you can do as a good way to test attract mode. Make sure you are using the default theme and mark down which platform and game views you are using Make sure you are using VLC as the playback engine (WMP has known long term memory leak issues) Make sure you aren't using any third party integrations that could impact the test, LEDBlinky and things like that Test long term and see if you are seeing the same results. If you are: Remove both your Images and Videos folder Test long term and see if you are seeing the same results. If not, bring back either the Images or Videos folder and test again. If you crash, then you know it's something in one of those folders. After that, you can PM me your results, along with your system specs. The good news is that this has been a thing for a while. Remove your current games from the Vita platform, make sure Vita3k is configured and working and add it to LaunchBox. We scrape the emulator itself and import games directly from it during the auto-import process. Thanks for the report. First guess is that this could be an unintended side-effect of the .NET 9 update. We will see what we uncover and see if there's anything we can do about it. That's too bad. I downloaded your theme, but am not seeing what you are seeing, so it's probably not related to the theme itself. It could be related to your data files in some way. You could send me a PM of your data files and I may have some time to look into this later this week. You can also test whether it's a theme specific issue just by changing your theme and seeing if that stops the crashing for you.
  3. Still a ways out, but glad you're excited!
  4. Thanks for the feedback. This would be great. I could see some people not wanting us to have a persistent background service running (we had some pushback on that in the past), but sounds like a solid option. Yeah, we do this in our Windows app, and it's great to know that if we brought something similar into the Android app, you'd be down for it.
  5. Live Stream Starting Tuesday, January 28, 2025 - 1:00PM EST Tune in to our weekly LaunchBox Dev Stream with Josh/MysterNybble! 🎮 Get ready for a deep dive into the inner workings of LaunchBox. 7. Did some testing, but not seeing this unfortunately. It could possibly be related to an additional app launching or a specific hardware configuration. Might be worth opening its own troubleshooting thread on it. Thanks. This is a known issue with the beta and will be fixed before release. Star rating is a known issue with the beta and will be fixed before release. It definitely could be an issue with your theme, although the entire crash report is being cut off. Do you have a special version of the theme that's not up on the forums?
  8. Just guessing at this point, but it seems to point to some corruption in your settings.xml file. Our current guess is that it's possible .NET 9 changed something to do with error tolerance levels that makes it so it's less tolerant to your corrupted file as .NET 6 was. You can test this by renaming your settings.xml file while LaunchBox is closed and see if that fixes your issue. If you can, zip up your entire Data folder and send me a PM with it and we can use it to help us test.
  9. We are looking into expanding our efforts on Twitch, adding the addition to extra scheduled streams each week covering a wide range of topics. Our Stream Schedule: Tuesdays: 1PM EST - With Josh/MysterNybble (Developer) (Weekly) Focus: Deep dives into development updates, technical discussions, and answering your burning questions about the game's inner workings. Thursdays: 1PM EST - With Brian/Faeran (Product Manager) Focus: Behind-the-scenes insights, hot topics, feature discussions, theme building, feature designs, and more. And of course, we'll be answering all of your questions LIVE! We hope that this is a start, as we look to refine the streams based on your feedback. If you have anything specific you'd like to see on the stream, let us know! All streams will be available as a VOD on both Twitch and YouTube for users that cannot make it live. Follow our Twitch channel to get a notification when we go live! See you there! https://www.twitch.tv/launchboxofficial

  10. That sucks. Definitely a weird and rare issue. Why it's only happening so consistently on your device, not sure. We've attempted to recreate it across 10 different device types, including a few Samsung devices but still haven't been able to. Do you know if you have any forced override settings turned on in your Galaxy's settings. Maybe a developer option, or something that tries to override the normal operation of an app to force a particular state to happen that isn't native to the application itself?
  11. I'm guessing this is related to the update to .NET 9. If fraganator is still around, it would most likely not be too bad to update that plugin to support .NET 9 moving forward, and we are available to help with any plugin dev that may have any questions about this. Thanks, we'll get it fixed. We also found another issue as well that will be fixed in the next round.
  12. Beta 2 is out with the following changes: Downloading bin/cue games over a network share now includes both downloading and deleting all associated files Introduced a new "Download Game" option for games imported from a network share, enabling users to download games independently of playing them Added the ability to delete the local version of a game while maintaining its availability over the network Increased network buffer size to potentially improve download speeds for game files from network shares The download pop-up for network share files is now more informative Default Nintendo 64 core for RetroArch has been updated due to the previous one being retired Resolved an issue where downloading EmuMovies videos could cause the application to crash Resolved an issue where importing files over a network share did not consistently handle bin/cue files as intended Addressed a problem where the selected platform or game information did not always update accurately when using touch controls Resolved a crash that could occur while navigating within a Boxes Grid view Addressed a crash that might happen during the import of MAME files Fixed a crash that could occur when changing screen orientation while on a Filters View Resolved a rare crash that could occur when long-pressing on specific elements Corrected an issue where the background video element behaved incorrectly when a custom view file lacked a foreground video element Fixed an issue that prevented Platform and Game videos from looping correctly
  13. There's been a lot of discussion in the past about doing this. It would require a major overhaul of the entire system and could in the worst case cause issues with playlists that are already out there. In saying that, I'd love to hear any real world rulesets that you are burning to use if we were to implement a system like this.
  14. If you can, zip up your data folder and send it to me in a PM. That might uncover what is actually going on here.
  15. Beta 3 is out with the following fixes: Fixed: Opening a second Game Details view using the Related Games feature is not always loading properly Fixed: Related Game tabs not always resetting back to the first tab in the list under certain conditions Fixed: Expanded achievements is sometimes left on after changing to a new game Fixed: Platform Icon within Game Details not always appearing Fixed: Clean Up Media utility no longer freezes when initiating scan Fixed: Margin issue with the default theme's Documents and Links sections Fixed: Visibility issue with the default theme's Media Preview box
  16. Thanks guys. Most likely related to the .NET 9 update. We'll look into it. I'm guessing it's not related to relative pathnames. You needing to uninstall a redistributable might be a clue. The new beta builds .NET9 into it, so no need to install any extra redistributable to make it work. As quickly as possible!
  17. This means you updated to version 13.19 beta 1, which had this known issue here. Here's our beta thread for version 13.19 that you can use to keep track of things and participate in the betas: Alternatively, you could opt out of betas if you wish not to take part in them.
  18. Here's the changelog for beta 2: The Black Screens Big Box have been fixed (introduced in beta 1) Under certain conditions game media within the carousel could show images from a previous game if the new game had no media (introduced in beta 1) Here's a list of known issues that will be solved with beta 3: Opening a second Game Details view using the Related Games feature is not always loading properly Related Game tabs not always resetting back to the first tab in the list under certain conditions Expanded achievements is sometimes left on after changing to a new game Platform Icon within Game Details not always appearing Thanks everyone for the help so far!
  19. Are you able to take a screenshot? I wasn't able to reproduce what I was thinking you were referring to here. My assumption was that you were using the image grid, and you turned on Arrange By > Release Date Year, while using the Default Plus theme, and the separators that contain things like "Release Date Year: 1979" disappear for you while within the Playlists filter section of LaunchBox, after clicking on your second playlist and beyond. Good catch will look into it for beta 3.
  20. No means don't do it now. As soon as you open it up again, it's queued up to install. That's just how the automatic download option has always worked. We've talked about altering it in the past, but it's significantly more risky to adjust that piece of code than in other places, as it could get people "stuck" on a version if not altered correctly. Anyway, getting a bit off topic at this point, so hoping to head back into discussions around LaunchBox's Game Details changes.
  21. That means you have the setting to automatically download the update in the background turned on. You'll want to go into LaunchBox's options under Tools > Options > Updates and turn that off. Before you do that, you'll want to go into your LaunchBox\Updates folder and delete the setup file. We've never had a "skip this version" option, but sounds like a good idea, although thinking out loud, I could see people clicking it by accident and wondering how to actually get the update.
  22. Yeah, got them. I'll let you know how that goes in the PM. Also, if you are referring to turning on the 3 related games sections under the game details options, that should only require you to change games once after you turn any of the 3 sections off. However, in saying that, it does require a theme to be updated to support this.
  23. We still haven't managed to recreate it, so if it does fix it for you, we'll take the win. Let us know what you find out. Yes, it will be completely automatic for all custom themes, including default. No user action would need to take place.
  24. LaunchBox for Windows 13.19 Beta Thread is open:
  25. This doesn't work for ANY theme that doesn't have all xaml files and falls back to the default theme for certain xaml files, which is essentially what you are seeing here. Unfortunately, not an easy fix as a lot of themes have decided to rely heavily on the default theme for fallback files instead of including their own. Either way, this will get fixed tomorrow and all of this will become a moot point. Sorry for the inconvenience here. For anyone willing to test the new LaunchBox Game Details view changes, we could definitely use as much feedback as possible as it was a large sweeping change.
