  1. Sounds awesome, thanks for doing that. It would be brilliant to have those bezels incorporated. It's definitely on my list. Sometimes I love working on those kinds of projects, I find myself regretting the word choice "hassle" - "fun challenge" could be just as valid a way to say it and a more positive way to say it.
  2. Haha thank you, went on a bit of a rant there I guess. I think you're right as it wasn't just that game, a lot of games seemed to have a lower rating than common sense would indicate. But yeah it's still really early days so it'll get more and more accurate the more votes that are recorded. So metadata has to be redownloaded in order to get the ratings then I guess, hence the desire for dedicated buttons? Really cool feature, that's for sure. I just noticed as well that if you sort by star ratings, it will use your own star rating, unless you haven't rated a game in which case it will use the community rating, which is pretty awesome.
  3. Wow so that explains a lot...I was getting a few community ratings, but after awhile I wasn't getting as many as I thought I would. But sure enough, I'm downloading metadata on a few games to try it out, and now they have ratings, so I'll have to do all games. I'd assumed being connected to the database within LB would be enough. How can you make sure your votes are being uploaded? Will syncing to the games database also accomplish this? BTW...I have to wonder who is doing the ratings...taste is subjective of course but I mean seriously. A rating of 3.17 out of 5 for frikking Gate of Thunder on Turbografx CD? That be some serious hatin'! Game's awesome and everyone knows it! C'mon, man.
  4. Thanks for that information! So Rocket Launcher would be involved. Part of me doesn't want this to turn into another full time job, but on the other hand when I'm in the right mood, I love these types of projects and could spend hours on then, as I've done to get as far as I've gotten in the past year since starting in on emulation and retro gaming. In fact, I've just spent the last 90 minutes or so messing around with RomCenter for the first time- really cool what it can do! And really not too hard to figure out how to do stuff. It would for sure be waaaay fracking cool to have those bezels on there when playing an arcade classic. Especially if if I ever build a MAME cabinet like I've started to have vague fantasies of doing lately.
  5. Eh, that sounds like a lot of hassle actually. Thanks a lot for the post. I find that I have to scale back my ambitions, I want everything perfect, but at the same time all of these types of projects really eat up the finite amount of free time I have to actually play the games so it's a balancing act.
  6. I'd been wondering about this as well, but I didn't want to have to bring rocketlauncher into the equation at this point. Thanks, I'll probably play around with this tonight!
  7. I would love this. I was thinking it would be awesome to be able have the left column listing chronologically, (i.e. Atari 2600, then Colecovision, then NES, then Sega Mastersystem, then Turbografx, etc.) I tried appending the console names with numbers to achieve this, as a workaround since it is listed alphabetically, but it looked like crap and also threw a monkey wrench into importing/scraping. Also, I have beat the drum for this before but in LB list view, the ability to change the position and width of columns, and remove some columns, and have that saved and opened up that way from then on, would be so useful. I care a lot more about Date Added and Last Played than other columns such as Developer, but those columns are way over to the right out of view and changes to this are wiped out every restart. I think every music player pretty much saves those changes and it would be a big help when I'm in "work mode", refining my collections within LB and also creating playlists, etc. P.S. Happy New Year to all Launchboxers! 2018 is going to be the best year yet!
  8. Thank you, Gam3rz3r0! I had Demul set up perfectly for Dreamcast, until one day the controller would not respond. In Demul it was still mapped correctly but now totally responsive. I remapped but encountered the bug you mentioned. Figured out how to hold the button first as you said. But. The dpad still could not be configured but I was able to use your trick of going into the ini file and I also use a ds4 controller and it worked! So thanks for putting the solution out there!
  9. After trying to figure it out, I was able to find a workaround. The developer and publisher fields are included in search. So in my example above, wanting compilations to come up in a search for one of its games - i.e. for Midway Treasures 3 to appear when searching for Hydro Thunder, I can right click the game entry, click edit, and type Hydro Thunder into either the developer or publisher fields and click OK. Then, a search for Hydro Thunder and Midway Treasures 3 will appear. Kind of inelegant and must be done manually, but it works. @wirtual82, that is a good idea. Also, I wish that LB would save your configuration of positioning and width of the columns. I like to look in order of date added, most recent first, but it's way over to the right and a pain to drag it over - and I have to do it every time. Don't wanna sound like an ingrate when LB is one of the AWESOMEST things ever, bit that is something I feel would be a big improvement & have actually suggested it in a live session, but it hasn't been added yet.
  10. Well, sorry for exhuming this old post, I don't do it lightly. I was wondering if there were any more advanced searching. Specifically, I landed here in a quest to have compilation games come up when searching for one of its games. For example, to type in "Hydro Thunder" in the search, and have Midway Arcade Treasures 3 for GameCube come up as an option. I tried listing the games in notes, as well as created a new field called Games, but in neither case did the games pop up in search.
  11. Well, it sure as hell threw me for a loop!
  12. Okay! Well thank you Lordmonkus for the suggestions, they were perfect. I was able to get true fullscreen with the stand alone Mednafen. If anyone else has the same issue of black bars on all four sides I did the following in the config file: Set [system].stretch, for the Saturn, ss.stretch to 0. ;Stretch to fill screen. ss.stretch 0 It had been set to aspect_mult2 and I had the pretty severe windowbox effect in fullscreen. Changing to aspect helped some. But I put it to zero which made it the native resolution, very tiny on a 1920x1080 monitor. I adjusted the scaling factor settings and was able to get it perfectly sized. In my setup the perfect setting was: ;Scaling factor for the X axis in fullscreen mode. ss.xscalefs 4.85 and ;Scaling factor for the Y axis in fullscreen mode. ss.yscalefs 4.85 You could play with increasing the x axis for a more widescreen effect. I did the same thing with Turbografx as that had the same issue. Now it's perfect! Thanks again! p.s. - sorry for sort of hijacking and re-routing the original thread
  13. Yeah tried several known working games in stand alone Mednafen, but with RA 1.6.0 and the Beetle Saturn core, failed to load or just straight up crashed. Went back to my previous 1.2.2 Retroarch, installed Saturn Beetle. Crashes every time when loading games. I dunno...black bars...who cares?? My Saturn setup with LB and Mednafen stand alone is brilliant except for that.
  14. Yeah...I've noticed the way the Retroarch folks go about doing things can be quirky at times. And confusingly you can still get the Mednafen cores to install manually. That's why I've dabbled in RA but ultimately stuck with the individual ems with LB. Thanks for all your help and info. I do have a 1080p setup. In fact, it's a 110" projector so the games are far from small, I should probably just deal with it, but it's just something that started to bug me so I've been devoting time I probably should've spent on actually playing games trying to solve or work around it. It is for games that are known to work, in Mednafen stand alone. In fact for Radiant Silvergun it worked in Yabause but not Mednafen, I finally got it working by using CDmage to rengenerate the bin and cue, I probably came across your info on that so thanks again. Unfortunately the Beetle core is still showing failed to load content. I give up for now. I'll take some of your kind suggestions and try to fix the Mednafen stand alone tomorrow.
  15. You're fracking kidding me. Why???? Okay well thanks for the very quick response. Why can't they just be called Mednafen for the love of all that is holy??
  16. Weird. I had the same issue with a freshly downloaded 1.6. The mednafen cores including the Saturn one I wanted specifically to try, were simply not there in the updater. Thought I was going mad, searched online, ended up here. Followed Lord Monkus's advise to add the core manually. But - then the core sure enough showed up in Load Core, but wouldn't run. Restarted retroarch and now the mednafen core does not show up, but now RA shows the beetle Saturn core is installed - which I never installed. Very odd. Well, then I DLd 1.5...same thing. No mednafen cores listed. WTF? They just aren't there. Finally I got the latest nightly, the Mednafen Saturn core still not listed. Installed core manually and this time I could load it. But. Loading cue files...no. "Failed to load content". Several known working games tried. *sigh* Not having any luck at all with anything, at the mo. Grrr. As a relative newb with emulators I have found you just run into a streak of being snakebitten sometimes while at other times it's smooth as butter. Tired, cranky, going to bed. Incidentally, the reason I even want to try the Mednafen Saturn core is that in the stand alone Mednafen, all my Saturn games run, in fullscreen, in a window - i.e. black bars on all four sides. On the sides it's fine, I want the native aspect ratio. But black bars top and bottom also, making the image smaller. I have scoured the internet and tried some things, poked around in the config file, to no avail. To try to alter the resolution, etc. to fix the issue and get true fullscreen with the 4x3 ratio. Anyone have any suggestions for that as well? Cheers, it's 12:21 am here, work tomorrow...Haven't actually played one game this evening... G'night!!
  17. That's badass, man. Everything you need to play!
  18. Fair enough, bro. No offense or anything, I was just excited. I was kind of talking about myself as well anyway - you could say that I was pessimistic as well, since I didn't even bother to try this emulator until now. I can't really get that excited at early stage emulators like some people -"oooh, it booted the title screen". I really haven't gone "all-in" with the emulation scene and gaming generally until about 6 months ago when I suddenly decided I had to build a gaming rig and also pick up a cheap used ps3 and dust off my Wii. So maybe it is the initial flush of excitement as a naive newbie, but I was pleasantly surprised and encouraged by what I saw yesterday with Rcps3. HotD III was just about playable...until it crashed, of course :-)
  19. I'm sensing a bit of pessimism - I don't know about several years away...this emulator is very close! I just played House of the Dead III and it was awesome! FPS between 25 and maybe 45 ingame, very playable, kind of slow and some more serious slowdowns, sure. And it did crash as I was defeating the level 2 boss. But! PS3 emulation! I have a good rig but it's no beast - i5 6600k OC'd to about 4.25 and a a zotac gtx 1060 6 gb amp! edition. That's with out of the box configuration, I haven't even played with the settings yet. Sure, only like 7% of the games are playable. But HotD III is no shrinking violet of a remastered old game, it's a real live PS3 game. I think in a year from now Rpcs3 will be well ahead of where Cemu is right now and probably at least 25% of the library nicely playable. Very very exciting stuff. You can watch the Simply Austin video on House of the Dead III on Youtube if you want, he was getting similar results to what I just got if I remember correctly Only thing is, does anyone know how to add games to LB??? Rcps3 installs the files in its own arcane way and there are tons of little files for each game and nothing jumps out as THE executable. I can start importing files one by one to try if I have to but that would be laborious and time consuming. Has anyone successfully added PS3 games to LB? Edit: For now, I just added the emulator, then for the Rom path I just put the emulator also - at least LB will boot up Pcps3 and then you can choose the game. Inelegant but not a bad workaround for now.
  20. Hey Guys, Great, awesome, incredible app guys! I'll chime in here too if I may. I was thinking of starting a new thread but found this one. I'd love to have the LB list view save the column configuration so that it stays the same as you had it upon shutting down and restarting. For example, I like to narrow the columns as much as possible to get the most data visible, and move certain columns like Last Played to the left so it's visible, and other things that are less important to me like Rating I move over to the far right. Having it stay that way would be something I'd vote for if it came up in a survey. And yeah I hadn't thought of inline editing, but that would be awesome too. The Calibre program for ebooks has that, pretty handy. Cheers!
