  1. Pico-8 platform View File Here is all my stuff from creating a platform for pico-8 . All of my projects are in the assets folder and all the resulting art is in the launchbox folder. In short, you can just drop the contents of my Launchbox folder in to your own installation. If you want to see my work and or change things, all the proj files and assets are in the assets folder. pico-8.mp4 I did my best at a colorful video, but will probably replace it once the experts create one. 3. ah yes, that seems to be the trick. Wmp seems slower on the transitions so I might switch them to slide. running it on this old TV hehe crt.mp4
  4. Thanks for the response by the way and I'll take any future support over to Patreon.
  5. That doesn't appear to be working. I can get it to look right in the editor using this technique (along with using negative margins of -250 all around). When I move the theme over to the target TV The platform videos are not showing up at all.
  6. I wonder if anyone wants to take this on. I did a simple mock up, but don't have the skills to get it over the finish line. pico-8.mp3 Pico Driller.mp4 Celeste Classic.mp4 Mai Chan_s Sweet Buns-01.mp4
  7. Hey there, I have been trying to make a simple theme for my 4:3 CRT and was wondering if there was any way to zoom this to fill the screen as opposed to stretching it to fill the screen?
  8. Awesome! Could I use your options views on my theme?
  9. I'm not sure if this will help you or not. My platform xmls are all vertical. Unfortunately the playlists are all autogenerated so won't be to much help. Data.zip
  10. I understand running a full time vertical screen is a pretty niche endeavor. I appreciate the ability to use Bigbox along with the theme creator to make it work for me. Keep up the good work guys!
  11. quick menu -> shader -> Shader parameters -> Adjust non-integer scale, x offset and y offset. The size will be consistant for most of my vertical bezels, but there are some that will need additional tweaking. It is a somewhat laborious process but I think its worth it. For games that don't support portrait resolutions I use irotate to rotate the monitor before game launch and then rotate it back after launch. These are my settings.
  12. I'm not sure what his work flow looks like but I'd be interested to know as well.
  13. Its worth noting that viking released the assets to his videos. If you had access to Photoshop and After Effects you could replace the gameplay videos and add marquees for your preferred games. There are only a handful of modern convertibles (Taito Viewlix, Namco Noir and Sega Lindbergh). These 3d models are a huge undertaking and will take a lot of time, but I can envision a future where viking and others like him have lovingly recreated most machines in cgi and we can enjoy our collections in a virtual reality arcade experience.
  14. Out of curiosity, what kind of thing did you have in mind?
  15. @tomkun I believe he did publish a TTX video that features viewlix cabs. I'd love to see some naomi/atomiswave era candy cabs.
  16. I just thought of one more caveat that is good to know. I don't know how to do the complicated process of editing the options views in big box, so I personally also download vertigo and drag all of the options views in to my vertical prototype folder in order to make them usable. If anyone out there is knowledgeable enough to do that for me I would appreciate it. It is pretty much the only thing stopping me from publishing this as a real theme instead of a template.
  17. Yeah the monitor must be in portrait mode when you launch the editor. It uses whatever resolution your main windows monitor is.
  18. yeah, my setup is using windows portrait.
  19. Hey Jezz, this is a work in progress theme and template meant for user specific customization. It's not plug and play. you must first download y2guru theme creator and then load this theme. You can then publish to use in Bigbox.
  20. Awesome! I'm really happy to see more people jumping on this trend!
  21. Vertical Prototype (DEAD) View File *Deprecated 10/11/2023 This project is on ice. Launchbox and Bigbox have improved discoverability making most custom playlist work achievable using the in built filtering. The bezel artwork is still available in the links. *Updated12/23/2020 Not much has changed. I included some images that I use for my platforms/playlists view. This is a work in progress theme for Big Box Theme creator. It is meant for monitors in portrait mode with vertical game play videos. It is still pretty rough, but it's something to use until something better comes along. In order to use this you must also download the theme creator and drop this file in the my projects folder. There is a font to install in the fonts folder. Open and tweak and then publish to use in big box. Updated for theme creator 1.0.8.95 Arcade Overlays and Marquees can be found here. Windows Vertical Videos and Marquees can be found here. Pinball Vertical Videos and Backglass Marquees can be found here. I'm using this theme only for games that support a vertical orientation during gameplay. It is untested with standard resolution games and the corresponding media. I do have plan to expand this build for all arcade games at some point but I am focusing on vertical resolution stuff for now and there is a lot to do.
