You can add videos you want in the \Videos\Platform folder, however the theme and view you use will somewhat dictate if a video can be shown.

Thanks for the steps @Lordmonkus Made the switch as well and installed the HDPack.

You said that the issue is less frequent now that you reduced the # of background videos. Have you tested it running without any background videos at all? Or tried it with a more minimal theme?

Hmm.. workaround. This suggests a 'feature request' to Jason!
Definitely put in a request that way others can vote it up.
It also has to do with the theme and how the developer wrote it. For example, CriticalCid's original version of his CriticalZone had a view with fullscreen videos. He created that view with clear logos that slide out of view leaving only the full video on screen. His new version does something similar, but there is a faint grey box that remains on screen as well as some small information boxes in the corners. So the creators vision of the theme can come into play.

Glad to see you are up and running again.

As @Lordmonkus I recommend command line as well.
Is it possible you tried a newer version of Mame and you have an old romset? What version is your Mame32 as well as your romset? All the mame32 versions I can find are old compared to current Mame builds and romsets.

My ini folder has nothing in it except for a dir note.
Is there a mame.ini file anywhere? I do not use 32 only 64 and I quit using MameUI due to issues so I am unsure where that version would put it normally.

Ok i will google the crap out of it and see how to create that file. I know i couldnt do it months ago, but finally have time. Trying to get my homebuilt arcade into a nice system, then id like to try bigbox next. thanks.
You do not have to create it. Jut look in the ini folder you should see mame.ini. Copy it and then past it into the root folder of mame32 where the mameui.exe is located.

Yes using mameui. Still same procedure?
Yup. This was a specific workaround for MameUI but it worked with a few other mame versions.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned listing the specs. Helps quickly anyone who sees it. Not sure on the issue. I do not recall seeing this specific issue. There have been reports of it being slow in several areas when selecting game, platform, or platform category. I am not sure if anyone has reported it only being slow when selecting a platform.
I have two pc with similar specs i5-6600k/16GB/gtx1070 and i7-7700K/32GB/GTX1080 and have no lag issues like you reported. Is this a recent set-up? You can try to use the force all images cache in the BigBox settings. It has been recommended on prior posts about slow BigBox. Depending on your collection size it can take a bit to cache.

Try copying your mame.ini file if it is located in the ini folder and paste it into the root mame folder where the mame.exe is located. Are you using a MameUI version?

Have you tried any 3rd party software like Vjoy or Xoutput to have your arcade stick emulate controllers. I know in the past I used Vjoy to have my Xarcade Tankstick function like a gamepad controller for some Steam games. Whether or not that will let you do what you want with both sticks being able to control BigBox I do not know as I never experimented with it and I do not use it this way as I do not have these Steam games in the arcade cabinet anymore.
The Tankstick has a trackball built in and it functions in most emulators like a mouse. It works pretty smoothly in Mame which is what I use it for about 100% of the time.

System specs as well as what theme you are using might help diagnose a little better. Does it do this with a specific theme or all themes?
Here is a thread on performance tips as well.

@DaveZ This community is a very helpful one. We welcome all our members at the same time we do our best as a community to keep that grey area out of the forum. We want to keep this a great site to seek help and to share while not putting it at risk.

I do not think he was insulting you. If one just reads your post and sees the link it is easy to believe you linked to roms. Your post said you ripped the roms from Mardigal and then you post a link to Madrigal. Even I thought you posted a rom site. Users may not want to click links they are not aware of so it is possible the user did not click the link for that reason.
As to your posted question it is hard to say without knowing where the set came. The one I have has those games you mention and it came from one of the more well known sites.

You can always use the report button and the mods would get notifications/emails about it. It sat there a while as I had quite a long lay in this morning, as shown by the fact that you commented from the US before I even got out of bed in the UK.
Copy that. Hey sometimes you need a slow start to a weekend day.

It has been about a year since I messed with Triforce roms and Dolphin but most people then were only able to get Dolphin to play triforce roms by using a Triforce branch of Dolphin and some setting changes/hacks. There were a few games that could run in Dolphin, but most needed to be played in the Triforce branch. This wiki on Mario Kart GP gives some info on how to get Mario running.

@kaushalmalkan11 Please edit your post. The forum does not allow linking to or advising of sites to download roms due to the legal nature of the issue.

You can reduce the background fade in the BigBix options. Let me know if it's still too dark even when set to 0%
Where is the face slap emoji when you need it. Completely forgot about that setting. Thanks Cid exactly what I needed. Looks great now.

Once again another great theme @CriticalCid. I cannot thank you enough for sharing your talent with us.
Is there a way to lessen the opacity of the background image? It looks great on the cabinet screens but I have a 3rd screen (4k TV) the system links to when you want to sit at the couch and play. The background image fade as it is makes the image almost disappear when viewed on that TV. I do not want to turn it off fully just reduce it some. Thanks!

@Lordmonkus is spot on. It is a bit of a pain to learn, but it has some nice features like fade in and out of games, bezels, pause screen that allows viewing things like images, manuals, and other media. I only recently got back into learning it just to give me something new to mess with. In my main arcade though I have not put it in place and likely will not. Its just on my test machine to learn. It is one less layer to have something break and go hunting for.
That is not a knock on it. In fact it is very useful. Just a personal preference and not a need.

@latin625 No worries. I have been using his videos to learn as well.

Hi Retro,
Thanks for quick reply
Yes, it does work and this is something I'm currently talking to Lordmonkus in this thread as well. When I clear the custom config parameter it loads the default config and sound works. I manage to use the override tip from Lordmonkus and I've got my core and shader override settings setup and yes the sound works inside LB. However, the only problem is that I have important onscreen overlays (took me ages to set up) that I want to somehow save from my custom config (LB) into the default config of retroarch. Is there some way of doing this or another override option for onscreen overlay? Cheers, and I hope I'm making sense
I think the core override will also save an overlay. You just need to load a game using that core and then F1 and set the overlay, much like you did with the shader. I have not really messed with that piece in core overrides. @Lordmonkus I am sure will reply when online to confirm or deny.
In the meantime since sound works with default .cfg I would remove the copy of the custom .cfg you did (don't delete just remove from the cfg folder and save it) and then try creating a clean custom .cfg just to see if in fact that first one got corrupt. I have had that happen before.
MAME controller settings disappear..... N00b?

Take a look at this video. He shows how to set stable contoller IDs with Mame. Maybe this can help you.
