  1. I think at this point we think need to either remove the html file from the zip file, or unzip the files and link the game in LB to the .bin file instead.
  2. hmm, no cue file which is odd, but I wonder now if the html file might be causing issues. I'm not sure how smart launchbox is when it comes to unzipping and launching games. If there are multiple files in the zip I'm not sure how it selects which one to try and pass on to the emulator. I would suggest either unzipping it and linking the LB entry to the unzipped .bin file, or perhaps just removing the html from the zip and see if that works (it is 100% not needed for the rom to work, it's just a reference as to where you got the rom from).
  3. If you're running windows 10, you can just click on the zip file from within explorer, and it should open for you to see what's inside of it. Or you can download a 3rd party tool like zip (https://www.7-zip.org/) which will allow you to open/compress/decompress files as needed.
  4. Can you post a screenshot of your launcher tab for that game? I'm curious as to what you have LB trying to launch. Many Sony Playstation games are muli-file roms like bin/cue. For those to launch correctly you want to actually import the .cue file, and not the .bin file. So, I'm curious if you're just trying to launch the wrong file from LB and that's why it's not working.
  5. @legolas119 For the error about launching games, I don't think it's a command line/emulator setup issue. I found this information on Kega Fusion and Windows 10 fullscreen possible errors.... so your error is likely to be fixed by doing this: Q: 'Unable to set display mode' error! When using Windows 10, upon attempting to enter fullscreen you may receive the following error message after an awkwardly long wait: Unable to set display mode Fortunately, there is a fix for this. Simply run Kega Fusion under Windows 7 emulation. Here's how: 1 - Right-click Fusion.exe and left-click Properties. 2 - Click on the Compatibility tab. 3 - Put a check in “Run this program in compatibility mode for”. Select Windows 7. Click OK.
  6. That's alot of questions lol. You might be better off going to the youtube channel I linked above and watching some of the tuturials. Most of your questions are likely answered through those. As for BlastEM, I believe it's the most accurate Sega Genesis emulator out there now, but it's not the best for Sega Master System. For the most part, retroarch and the GenesisPlusGX core is much easier to setup and use for almost all Sega platforms (except 32X, which you need to use the Picodrive core, or a stand-alone emulator). As for having multiple emulators for platforms, I'll use your Nintendo platform as an example. You have puNes setup as the default emulator for that platform now. So, whenever you import and Nintendo games that you have linked to that emulator, it will be selected as the default emulator in the import wizard. You can change it you any other emulator you have setup that you also have listed as working for Nintendo. For example, you could add Mesen (which btw is the most accurate NES emulator right now) and you would enter Nintendo Entertainment System in the Associated Platforms tab, but you just don't select the default emulator option. Now, when you right-click any NES games in LB you will see a launch with option is now shown. When you click on that it will list all the emulators you have setup, where you have Nintendo Entertainment System listed as an associated platform... in this example it would list pUnes and Mesen. For the screenshots, etc. to show, you need to make sure that in the launchbox options you have enabled the game details pane (which will appear on the right side of the screen). Now, when you click on a game in the main windows, the game details pane will show any screenshots, notes, details, videos, etc. that you have for that game (usually downloaded during the import process) Sorry, forgot to answer your question about teenage mutant ninja turtles. Yeah, if the import wizard didn't import then it might not be a good rom (although usually LB will import it no matter what). You can always try downloading another version and reattempt to import just that rom. You don't have to do folders, etc. all the time, you can just do individual roms if you want like that. As for the .zip or not. If you have games imported in a non-zip format, and now you want to zip them up, then yes you will need to remove them from LB, zip them up, then reimport the zipped versions. You could zip them, and edit the entries in LB and point the file to the newly created zip file, but that's a little more advanced, so removing them and re-importing them is the easiest way to go for a beginner.
  7. 1) I have alot of free space on my drives, so I tend to not leave anything zipped except Mame/Final Burn roms which require to be kept in a zip file. For the others I tend to unzip them in their rom folders before importing them into LB. However, that being said, if you do leave them in the zip files, then yes you likely will need to select to extract the roms before to run the game for most emulators. It should not be an issue if you mix and match roms, as it will unzip it if needed I assume. But, to be safe I would suggest having them all zipped, or unzipped to make sure. I would assume though if you have that checked off and the game is not in a zip file, LB will just ignore the unzipping part and just launch the game. 2) For the most part you don't need to worry about attempt to hide console option. Most emulators don't need that option selected. But, as with most LB features, when you launch a game if there is a console window that pops up and prevents the game from launch properly, you can try selecting that option to see if it will launch better/more seamlessly. For the most part if you add an emulator that LB is already setup to recognize (most popular emulators are for most popular consoles) it will populate fields as needed and select the options recommended for you. 3) With any emulator, you can have one entry if you want, and as long as you don't need to feed unique command lines to run each console, you just need to add each console you want that emulator to work with on the associated platforms tab. Example below in the screenshot for BlastEM (Sega Genesis emulator) that I have setup to run Sega Genesis and Sega Master System. Note that even though both are listed for me, I only use it as the primary emulator for Sega Gensis, but since it's listed here when I right-click any Sega Master System game I can select launch with and select BlastEm ... if I have a game that doesn't run well with my primary emulator for that console, maybe BlastEm will. That's how those settings work in case you were not aware.
  8. I stopped using ePSXE a long time ago in favor of Retroarch and the Beetle PSX HW core (for more/better functionality/upscaling, etc.). However, a quick google search found this page which seems to explain how to do disk switching in ePSXE pretty well (assuming it's still relevant, but it should be as I don't think ePSXE has been updated in quite a while so the instructions should still be valid) https://forums.emulator-zone.com/showthread.php?t=18512 One thing to note though, it says to press Esc to bring up the ePSXE screen, if you have Esc set to exit your emulator, this might be an issue, and you might need to find another way to get back to the ePSXE screen while in game.
  9. Also, as for why you can't play some EU games via the Beetle HW core is likely because of the odd copyright protection some (many) PAL games used. See https://docs.libretro.com/library/beetle_psx_hw/ for more information on how to get those to work in the Bettle core... specifically this section: Playing PAL copy protected games¶ PAL copy protected games need a SBI Subchannel file next to the bin/cue files in order to get past the copy protection. Ape Escape (Europe).bin Ape Escape (Europe).cue Ape Escape (Europe).sbi Warning For proper PAL game compatibility, the 'Skip BIOS' core option needs to be set to off.
  10. To tell LB to use a certain core for a game, in LB right-click on the game and select edit. Select the Emulation tab. On that tab select the option for use custom command line parameters. In the line below that you should enter the following: -L "cores\pcsx_rearmed_libretro.dll" Now when you launch that game, LB will tell retroarch to launch it using the pcsx_rearmed_libretro.dll core.... assuming you have it downloaded that is
  11. I would not map exit to the same buttons. It might cause one or the other to trigger when you press them. I would clear it, or at least remap exit to something else
  12. Did you re-do the controller mapping to the close the active window as suggested above? I forgot that in BB it's not the exit you want to map, it's the close the active windows you want to edit and do the buttons on.
  13. heh @neil9000is that the RetroRefried theme I see Love that theme.
  14. Bingo... wow, how did I miss that Glad someone picked up on that heh
  15. One last thing I can think of, but I assume this is done otherwise I don't know if the controller would even work in BB. in BB on the section above controller mapping (ie. controller) I assume you have Enable Game Controllers checked off, and in the Device section it lists your game controller? I'm afraid that's the extent of what I can think of that might be causing the issue.
  16. Wow, I'm confused as well. Those settings all look correct. Maybe someone else will think of something, but at this point I gotta admit I'm stumped
  17. Also, can you post a screenshot of your controller automation settings in LB (we'll focus on that for now, if we can get controller automation to work in LB, then setting up in BB is the same). Go to your options/mappings section in LB and scroll down to the exit game section. Here's a screenshot of mine so you can see how I have mine setup, I have mine set to press and hold the select button, then the top button on my controller. This will then kick off the exit command to the emulator. If it is exiting properly when you press the escape key on the keyboard, then I don't think it's a setting in the emulator/ahk script, it's likely a controller automation setting that's missing/incorrectly mapped I expect.
  18. 1) If you have space to spare, which you do from the sounds of it, you can install it on the SSD. However, that being said, the speed of the drive is not really a big issue when it comes to performance of LB/BB. The biggest factor is processor speed (per core), amount of ram in the system, etc. (I suppose graphics card to an extent as well, but I expect LB/BB isn't as graphically intensive more so the emulators). That, and the fact that the media files (box art, screenshots, manuals, video previews etc.) will also be installed whereever you have LB installed, it can take up alot of space. With both of those things stated, I would likely suggest going with the SSHD (hybrid drive) as you won't notice too much of a speed difference, and you have more space to accommodate all the media that will be downloaded when you import stuff into LB). 2) LB is 100% compatible with Emumovies (you need to enter your credentials for it in the LB options section for Emumovies). Once that's done when you import games you will be given the option to select which media you want LB to attempt to download from Emumovies (if they are available) ... such as front/back/3d boxart, screenshots, manuals, video screencaps, etc. If it exists, and you have have it selected during the import process, it will find it, download it, and link it to the game in LB/BB seamlessly for you (assuming the game is named correctly and is found in the gamesdb). Here's a link to many tutorials that have been posted on YT by the LB devs/moderators. Have a look through and you'll see how easy it is to import games, artwork, etc. using this frontend https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSIht6UXIEXIgz4eXAEShxA/videos
  19. I believe Guacamelee might be in a broken state right now. The Cumu compatibility page does show it as working, but when you click on it for details there are no working reports listed... so my guess is that it is not in a working state. FYI, it does not launch for me either.
  20. First thing that needs to be mentioned I guess, in case you were not aware. LB and BB have their own/separate controller automation sections. If you enable it, and setup the exit hotkeys in LB, it won't work in BB until you also set it up in there as well. Secondly, I checked my Running Autohotkey settings for PCSX2 and I have the following generic shutdown AHK script in mine (which does work fine for me). If you have nothing in that tab for your emulator settings in LB, try using the following: $Esc:: { Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}} } Edit: Also, just an FYI as this can cause problems with emulators and functionality such as controller automation, etc. make sure that you don't install any of your emulators into the C:\Program Files (or C:\Program Files (x86)) folders. Those typically require special permissions that break with frontends. Better to install your frontends, and all emulators, into another folder such as C:\Games (as an examaple).
  21. I believe it requires mame standalone to submit high scores etc. and is currently not FBAlpha/Neo compatible from what I gather (someone can correct me if wrong). However, if you imported your FBNeo games and scraped them as arcade (Mame), it should at least show you the mame high scores in the details section for the games that do have high scores... at least it does for me.
  22. I just downloaded/tried Majora's Mask textures and Citra goes unresponsive for about 30 seconds while it tries to preload all those textures. My guess is that since it goes into a unresponsive state LB/BB sees it as being crashed or it thinks it failed to launch, and just closes it and brings you back to the frontend thinking it failed to launch the emulator properly. Probably best to play it without the preload option enabled for now. Not sure if there's a way to tell LB to wait for 30 seconds after launching to see if the emulator is available or not. Maybe there's a way to do this via the AHK scripts? Someone else would have to answer that question though, as I'm not sure if that's doable or not
  23. I'm guessing you have corrupt custom texture file perhaps. It would explain why it crashes on preload because that option attempts to preload all the custom textures for the game you are playing. If one of those is corrupt it would crash. if you have that option disabled that corrupt custom texture will only load when needed/called upon... ie no instant crash on startup. Does it do this with every game that you have custom textures for, or just the one?
  24. From what I can read online about Xenia emulator, the keyboard shortcut to close the emulator is Alt + F4. If that's still the case, you should be able to edit your emulator setting in LB for Xenia and place the following on the Running AutoHotKey Script tab: $Esc:: { Send !{f4} Return } Now pressing escape on your keyboard (or via any controller automation you have setup in LB/BB to exit emulator) should push the Alt+F4 command, thus closing Xenia. Hope this helps, CDBlue
