  1. During the XML lists for instance during the list of separating no casino games I got a list with many arcade games in one folder and in the other a lot of other files including 18th wheeler or something simular which is an arcade game so if I can't rely on the results I'll have to do the sorting myself even if it takes years, I guess i'm OCD beyond help.
  2. Damn, well I regret to say I got some very mixed and unaccurate filtering results during the proces. I'll be going the alternative route with gameplay snaps in the rom folder and separate it from there, sorry man after all the time you spend explaining this, know that you didn't spend it for nothing. Thanks again for everything.
  3. A few small questions still (so sorry for asking so much as I don't do this normally and have asked quite a lot on these forums already in a short amount of time) I understand most of the lists but there are still some I don't understand, perhaps there is a thread that is explaining the lists in further depth somewhere?: worthy_clones_joybut < What does "Joy But" mean (Joystick with button games?), there is also a folder with worthy clones without joybut at the end. electro < I take it that's electro mechanical like Pinball machines and such? utilities < Computers, chess computers, calculators, consoles and cash registers?
  4. Wow @Kondorito thank you so much man! I really appreciate the time you took to write this down and everything! It's working and hyperchecker is moving roms around as we speak! Thank you again @wallmachine is right, you are a master So is @Lordmonkus btw whom I learned a lot from on this forum as well during the climb of mount Mame, thank you all! The mountain peak is in sight and soon I will watch out over a world of arcade cabinets with a digital sun goin' down behind a retro grid horizon haha
  5. Thanks for the help man, I appreciate it! Can you explain how I can get this program to work without installing hyperspin and the steps I should take? I just thought of a possible alternative without having to install anything (since I do wish to keep my system minimalistic and clean), what if I just drop all the gamescreen and video snaps inside the rom folder so the rom files have a screenshot next to it so I can exactly see what is a game and what is not and then delete all the files that dont have a screenshot, would that work or are there still some external files that non-merged sets do depend on? Thanks again for any thoughts and knowledge on this matter.
  6. I conclude with this new mame meme
  7. Well, trying it out but both tools are made for hyperspin, I have Launchbox not hyperspin so I don't know what to do with this, geez man everything concerning mame seems to be be broken, fragmented or not up to date, I really don't get it why it's all so unorganized and fragmented all over the place. I guess I just have to use the Launchbox importer and miss a lot of games, it is what it is, getting really tired after reading and testing for days on end and getting nowhere Aren't there simple batch scripts pre-configured for all these tasks? Surely i'm not the first person confronting the enormous Mame mountain. Anyhow thanks for the help man.
  8. I was just reading through your other response about hyperchecker while you answered here haha that's a cool coincendce, thank you so much dude! Will try it out and let you know my experiences, hopefully we can help people with the same questions out as well by this and other posts.
  9. Lol I bet, but I was hoping I could pre-sort/separate a lot of files before doing so, I don't mind taking a year going through a batch of games each night, kinda like it even (OCD like the world hasn't seen before haha) But I gather from your answer there are no such tools or batch processes that do a really accurate sorting? Even if it would do only one of those tasks accurately it would help me out.
  10. I know there is a lot of information about this but there is so much information online I'm getting seriously cross-eyed and confused and time after time it's just not what I am specifically searching for or people being skeptical about the solutions, normally I can really help myself and find solutions to technical problems but this is getting a bit out of hand for me. I'm really sorry if you this has been asked a dozen of times and I didn't find the answer, thing is I can formulate my problems in a 1000 different ways and get different results everytime and since english isn't my main language it's adding up to the info-overdose. I downloaded an entire set of 0.197 non-merged Mame roms so I can safely delete games I do not want as I've been told, before this I tried a complete 0.188 set split or merged (don't know for sure) and imported it several times in Launchbox, I tried various import methods but each time I missed some games and other times I had too many files I didn't want or need, it became a big mess so I deleted all the files and now I'm gonna start over with a clean slate and really want to do it the right way. What do I want? 100% Accurately separate (Arcade) rom files by moving them to separate folders (in windows explorer) so I can import the ones I need in Launchbox manually later on in the way I see fit. I want to sort them in the following folders/categories: Games that are better off run in other emulators, like daphne, sega model 2 or 3 etc., I already have separate CPS1, CPS2 and CPS3 and Neo Geo to run as a different platform instead of playlist and run in FBA for example Anything to do with Pinball roms in separate folders Anything to do with computers in separate folders Anything to do with Game & Watch in separate folders Anything to do with Majong in separate folders Anything to do with Fruit Machines in separate folders All Bios files in seperate folders And so on Hope someone knows a real accurate way to do this.
  11. Do you have an emumovies account? I believe I got them all through their scraper. Yesterday I saw someone uploading many Neo Geo carts to the LB database as well, you could try rescraping your games through launchbox again to see if you get new results.
  12. Thank you all for this information, I'm in the same proces myself figuring out how this all works, this was quite helpful.
  13. I have checked all the covers but couldn't find what I think was in my memory, guess it must have been the game above and this game was the fruit aspect of the memory:
  14. I think I might have mixed my fragmented memories of bombs, yellow, blue, fruit and a cute character lol The fruit one could have been 'Tutti Frutti' but it doesn't give a memory spark that much. This the one I ment for bombs but now I think there is still another one with the fruit and the cute character, I really loved this one that's for sure, later on I loved the hell out of all the bomber man games as well which I didn't knew anything about in '85 still. btw They DO have a front cover browser on that website see link: http://plus4world.powweb.com/covers and click on the letters for more covers in case you're on a nostalgic quest yourself. Dork's Dilemma it is, amazing game! (to me that was) Really liked Fire-Ant as well, nice game and still very playable this day imo: I hope I can find that other c16 game, after this I really fear the msdos game quest, that one won't be easy.
  15. I might have found the solution here on Launchbox itself but it seems quite a little study to get working but i'll try it out soon
  16. Yeah I do love RetroArch a lot but I'd like to use the awesome artwork/bezel feature that as far as I can see only the standalone Mame has, or do you know a way this feature will work on RetroArch? I don't think the overlay alternative is a good alternative to the artwork feature since it lacks multiple choices and animation.
  17. Thanks @Lordmonkus! Yes that is the problem i'm having, Mame doesn't seem to recognize the button which is surprising to me since the controllers have been around for a while as has Mame. But now I do know the name that is used for this button i'll try to google further, thanks again!
  18. I hope someone can help me point me in the right direction. I'm relatively new to mame and I figured most of it out. There is still one problem I can't seem to find on google as I don't know how to describe the menu button (forgive me, I'm Dutch ;)) of these controllers I use, namely the Logitech F310 joypads. I'd like to be able to map this middle/menu button which the PS3, PS4 and XBOX controllers have as well to name a few. I am able to map this button in RetroArch but I do wish to use Mame for many arcade games, anyone know more about this? Thank you for any help you can provide!
  19. Thank you for thinking about this, this is not the game i'm sad to say. I think I have to find a database with all the covers to be able to find it, I just found a website but sadly they are only game screens in the browser, I'm gonna check em out one by one, will let you know if I find it http://plus4world.powweb.com/games.php?l=0&cols=&icons=
  20. Thanks for the tip!
  21. Mr. RetroLust's Neo Geo Marquees - Pack 1 of 2 View File Mr. RetroLust's Neo Geo Marquees Pack 1 of 2 This is version 2.0.0, I deleted the first version I uploaded here so be advised to overwrite the old versions with these updated better quality versions. See below for more details. Description I made these Marquees exclusively for the LaunchBox community as appreciation for the awesome work, software and everyone that contributes to this amazing community. I find the official single 'mini-marquee' system a bit boring with just one small mini-marquee on a huge red plate and as the games came with more instruction flyers and artwork I got inspired by the dual-marquee layout to use the second placeholder for more artwork for a single game, for some games I couldn't find extra flyer material so I used artwork from back-covers and such to fill up the second placeholder. Now it feels a bit more colorful. If you like these marquees please use the review option below as well, much appreciated. Includes Marquees for 73 games (see list below for more details) Made from the highest quality artwork available Version 2.0.0 changes: Optimized marquees without scratched texture overlay for deeper colors and contrast on the mini-marquees Cleaned up and color corrected artwork Custom translations from Japanese to English where needed Exclusive Day mode / Night Mode (unlit/lit) for every marquee Including restored/remade/revived Full Marquee versions for some games that weren't available anywhere else before Optimized dual mini-marquee layouts in 21:9 aspect ratio for full screen ultra-wide marquee monitors All marquees are 4K Ultra HD Resolution; 3840 pixels wide with variable height for Full Layout marquees See this thread for more details on this project: Installation Place the files in "Images\*Name of your Neo Geo directory*\Arcade - Marquee". The file names have the rom name so if the title changes in the launchbox games database these files still get linked to the rom files, please note that some games might have a specific version in the name so you should change it accordingly, example: The Burning fight version that you use could be: "burningf" or as I use: "burningfh". Eassiest to check is by dropping all the files inside your Rom directory so you can compare them directly side by side (that is if you keep your Neo Geo files separated from Mame roms as those directories could be a bit large) You could delete the versions you don't like; Night, Day, Full or Mini-Marquee or just let BigBox randomly choose a version for you each time (if I'm not mistaken) when you have different numbers behind the images (01, 02, 03, 04) List including games Pack 1 of 2: +++ - 3 Count Bout (Fire Suplex) +++ - Super Baseball 2020 (2020 Super Baseball) +++ - Aggressors of Dark Kombat (Tsukai GANGAN Koshinkyoku) +++ - Alpha Mission II (ASO II: Last Guardian) +++ - Andro Dunos +++ - Art of Fighting (Ryuko no Ken) +++ - Art of Fighting 2 (Ryuko no Ken 2) +++ - Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior (ART OF FIGHTING: Ryuko no Ken - Gaiden) +++ - Bang Bead (Bang Beads) +++ - Baseball Stars Professional +++ - Baseball Stars 2 +++ - Battle Flip Shot (Flip Shot) +++ - Blazing Star +++ - Blue's Journey (Raguy) +++ - Breakers +++ - Breakers Revenge +++ - Burning Fight +++ - Captain Tomaday +++ - Crossed Swords +++ - Crossed Swords II +++ - Cyber-Lip +++ - Double Dragon (Double Dragon 6-1) +++ - Eight Man (8 Man) +++ - Far East of Eden: Kabuki Klash (Tengai Makyo: Shinden) +++ - Fatal Fury: King of Fighters (Garo Densetsu: Shukumei no Tatakai) +++ - Fatal Fury 2 (Garo Densetsu 2: Aratanaru Tatakai) +++ - Fatal Fury 3: Road to the Final Victory (Garo Densetsu 3: Harukanaru Tatakai) +++ - Fatal Fury Special (Garo Densetsu Special) +++ - Fight Fever (Wang Jung Wang) +++ - Football Frenzy +++ - Galaxy Fight: Universal Warriors +++ - Ganryu (Musashi Ganryuki) +++ - Garou: Mark of the Wolves +++ - Ghostlop +++ - Ghost Pilots +++ - Goal! 22. Hi all, I have found back almost every game that I played when I was younger but there still are 2 games that I can't seem to find, hopefully you can help me find them. 1. On the Commodore 16. A friend of mine had a game we played a lot, I don't know if it was an unlicensed game or not. I remember it had something of a blueish cassette cover with some sort of cute character on the cover, the character was pink or yellow I think and I think it was a bath-duck or something but it could be a worm or something as well lol, if I see the cover I'll recognize it in an instant. Same goes for the gameplay, it was some sort of pac-man clone I think but it wasn't pac-man. It was maze-like and if I remember correctly it had pickups like fruit as well, I guess it had cherries and watermelons but I'm not sure. Blue and yellow colors where also present in the game field I think. As you see it's a very faded memory, hell it's been about 35 years back lol. Edit: Something comes to mind that the character or something else could explode or something like that, I'm not a 100% sure about this but maybe it helps. Sorry for all the vague-ness. 2. MS-Dos or beyond, it was on microsoft is all I know. I only played it once but was really impressed with this game, all I can remember is that you controlled a ship on an ocean, I don't know for sure but I think it had an ancient samurai-like theme and I think the main thing I liked about this exploration game was the spooky and mystical vibe it had, could have been in japanese but I'm not sure. Spooky asian (could have been samurai) environment ship exploration game is all that comes to mind. Thank you for any help it would mean a lot to me if I could see or play these once again
  23. That's enough motivation to upload the first pack then I'll upload it later on today
  24. Awesome!!
