  1. This is so weird but the SEGA Mega Drive (Translations) games launch but no other ones do and the settings are all the same for my other Genesis/Mega Drive categories:

Actually, all my Mega Drive games are separated by region etc as you can see. All games are stored in their own folders and all are zipped. Would it make a difference if some are .bin and some are .md inside the zip files? As it seems now that only the .bin are opening (launching) but not the .md. I am wondering if there is a setting in Kega Fusion or LaunchBox that can say to open the .md.

I'm not sure but here are two things you can try doing go to the Kega.exe and right click it go to properties and under the compatibility tab turn off full screen optimization see if that does anything if not try turning off dpi scaling and if neither help I'm fresh out of ideas

Thank you for your reply. 'Disable fullscreen optimizations' was already unchecked on my Kega Fusion > properties > compatibility tab. I do not see 'dpi scaling' anywhere in Kega Fusion properties or settings.

In Fusion, Video > Set Render Plugin > Scale x3 or Scale x4. Then set Video>Full Screen Resolution to whatever your monitor is.

Sorry to revive this old thread but it will not let me highlight the Render Plugin option in Kega Fusion. My Kega Fusion was working just fine on Windows 10 up until a week ago and now I just cannot get it to work. It works via just the emulator. Though it will not launch from either LaunchBox or BigBox like it did previously. I just refuse to use Retroarch as the controls are absolutely a nightmare if you do not have something like a 360 or PS4 controller, I have the X-Arcade Tankstick and that is purely the reason that keeps me right away from Retroarch. Does anyone know what might be the issue with this Render Plugin option not being accessible?

Try copying your mame.ini file that should be located in the ini folder into the root folder where the mameui.exe file is. This issue started around 0.186 and that was the fix.

I never would have guessed in a million years that was the issue. I did a search through the forum here and Google first and did not come across that bit of information. It certainly did work and all games launch correctly now. Thank you very much, greatly appreciated.

  5. I am using MAMEUI64 0.195 along with a full 0.195 Split ROM-set. All games work perfectly when selected and played from MAME itself. Though, when I launch therm from LB or BB I get the same error message which is that files are missing as show in the attached image. I have read in other threads on the forum about compatibility issues between older versions of and conflicting sets of MAME/ROMs but mine are matching and compatible.  Also, please see attached a screenshot of my emulator settings for Arcade/MAME just in case I have something incorrect there.image.thumb.png.a51c87a993dd995706bd411c3fbf164c.pngimage.thumb.png.dfc513f473548c5591bebb0df5026c60.png

    Thank you in advance.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread but I was curious if this was ever implemented? I was trying to upload a rom-set today which consists of 2k+ homebrew/hack titles. Many are same game versions that cannot be distinguished after being uploaded without the information in the parentheses included. At 2k+ titles it is too much work to do it manually.

Actually, I just though of something. Silly me, but I have Bulk Rename Utility on my computer. I've always used it to rename music and shows. I can just select all the files and chose to delete the end parentheses and replace the first parentheses with a hyphen.

Yes, I've added that to my to do list.

Yeah unfortunately the X-Arcade sticks seem to be geared more towards use with Mame which is an absolute breeze to setup with it. Other emulators which expect a normal controller have a much easier time of things.

I have an Tankstick as well but I have only set it up with Mame since I prefer a control pad for console emulation myself.

I do have 2 x PS4 controllers on their way in the post which I purchased about a week ago. Though predominantly I prefer the arcade stick. Even as a kid I preferred the stick(s) that were available for any given console.

I have passed this thread along to Jason so hopefully it's something he looks into soon and adds in a controller automation close emulator button combo like with regular controllers.

Thank you very much, that would be great.

In Retroarch quick menu will not work to change key bindings for the tankstick since it is a keyboard not a controller. Just load a core or a game and go into the full menu (not quick menu) go over to the gear icon and then go into the input and set your controls there (input player 1 and input player 2). Then once done back out of the gear icon setting and go into Quick Menu and choose "Save Core Override" this will set it for the core and not affect to base controls you may have set.

Ahh, finally! Thank you. Crazy how I could not find that simple little bunch of information anywhere. Now I just have to figure out the convoluted input setup as I enter down on the down-key for User 1 Down D-pad for the Game Boy Advance and it programs it as keypad2 for example. Haha, good times.

On the keyboard it's the Escape key which is not a key on the X-Arcade sticks if I remember correctly so the easiest way around that would be to use an AHK script in the Edit Emulator window > AHK Script tab.

    Here's one from the AHK Script thread specifically for the Tankstick;

Thank you for your reply. So I go to: LaunchBox > Tools > Manage Emulators > Retroarch (or whichever emulator I want) >then past that in the "AutoHotkey Script" and change the "4" and "2" to whatever I want if I want them different?

EDIT: Also, whilst on the topic of the X-Arcade. I simply am unable to figure out how to input controls for each individual platform in Retroarch and I can find not one easy step by step guide on the internet, at all. Surely there must be one and I have just not found it. When I load a core then go to Quick Menu > Controls all it pretty much seems to do is let me change one of the User Device Types to "RetroPad" or "None". How in God's name is one to input their wanted controls? I have seen people mentioning editing .cfg files but is this really how you have to do it with Retroarch? I am starting to think that the devil himself has created Retroarch just to torment us.

  11. How does BigBox exit an emulator? I have read people saying you have to handle that through the emulators themselves but Hyperspin exited everything with ease upon selecting which button you wanted to do it with. I know BigBox is not Hyperspin, but does it not have an option or the ability to assign a button to exit emulators?

  12. Hi everyone,

I am having some difficulties with getting my X-Arcade Tankstick to work in BigBox. I have not long converted from Hyperspin, where the X-Arcade was self explanatory and a breeze. Though, unfortunately I am not finding it so here.

I have gone to BigBox > Options > Controller > and ticked "Enable Game Controllers" and "Use All Controllers". Where it says "Device:" there is nothing there. Is that because these options only apply to an actual game-pad controller instead of the X-Arcade which is mapped as a keyboard? If so, does that mean in the options I do not worry about "Controller Buttons" but just "Keyboard Mappings" instead?

Also, regarding controls, using Nestopia as an example. I have gotten to the stage with BigBox where I can launch Nestopia full-screen into a chosen game but have no idea how to exit out of the emulator back into BigBox. Is someone able to point me in the right direction? Because at least to me it certainly is not obvious how (I am probable just a doofus).

I have found other topics in the forum here about the X-Arcade from years ago but there were of little help as they were from a time where LaunchBox/BigBox seemed to not have compatibility issues with the X-Arcade?

    Thank you in advanced.

  13. I’m actually using WMP as my player and the videos play fine when they do play. So for me at least that’s not the issue, it’s a mystery. I actually deleted LaunchBox along with all my previous hard work with it 2 days ago and am starting from scratch on a new computer. Hopefully I’ll run into less gremlins this time.

It’s actually very easy to remove the platform banners directly from the theme code.

I’m assuming that you are using the Default theme, so I went ahead and did a quick edit of it with no platform banners. Just extract it into your Themes folder and you should be good to go :)

    Default - No Platform Banner.zip

This actually did not work for me. I downloaded your file but the banner still shows. Would you be so kind as to explain exactly what you did?

  15. Okay, this is a really weird problem I cannot figure out. I have added tons of system and games to my LaunchBox and when I did so originally I had everything ticked for EmuMovies (I have a full premium account), Everything has worked perfectly up until now.

Recently I updated all the metadata and media for my 15k+ games, I selected the option to not replace any existing stuff but just to fill in the blanks. It took 4 days to do but afterwards in BigBox most of the game preview videos do not work. I only mention that as it is the only thing I have done lately to everything.

Not the games are either showing a game-play screenshot instead or nothing. Here is an example: I only have 8 PS1 games and before they were ALL showing their preview videos, then they did not, just before posting this I updated the media for the 8 PS1 games only selecting to update the videos from EmuMovies and now they are all showing correctly again.

I cannot figure out what is going on as everything originally worked just fine.

@Klopjero: Here's a blank background @Omen had sent me, in case @dragon57 does not already have it.

Oh man, THIS is exactly what I was after. I did a search for it but could not find it. I wanted to use the exact same background throughout but instead of asking I thought I would just make my own despite it not being exactly the same. I've just replaced all my fan art background with this. Even though you did not post this for me, thank you kindly.

@Dane This may not be what you want, but I did make a theme called Nostalgia around viking's videos. I turned his videos into backgrounds and play videos inside the TV, arcade, handheld, etc. Just thought I'd mention it.

I did know about your Nostalgia theme already, but thank you very much for bringing it to my attention here. I actually downloaded it and gave it a brief try already, not long after I downloaded LaunchBox/BigBox. Your Nostalgia theme is absolutely wonderful and I would be very happy with it. Though I was personally after something just that little more simplistic and 'plain'. I am glad I have gone the route I have taken because despite it having been a little bit painful customising the default theme it has taught me a bit about how everything works. Thanks again.

EDIT: It is funny that I want and enjoy the current simplicity of my setup as I originally got into Hyperspin years ago because of all the bells and whistles. I must be an old fart now.

  18. It was all fine and dandy to have the main menu screen looking uniform and dapper. Though from there entering into all the games menus looked hideous with the fan-art as the background. It did not match at all so I made a generic grey background which although might be a bit bland for some, I like the simplicity and continuity.

I deleted all the fan-art background images from any folders then added the new background image which I just called 1.png into the \LaunchBox\Images\Platforms\*platform name*\Fanart folder.

Just thought I would mention that a better practice would be to of made a copy of the default theme folder first then you can change the name of that copied folder to what ever you want and then you would have your own custom theme

I never thought of that. Would it have made it easier as in discarding some of the 'restrictions' regarding options pertaining to the specific default theme?
