Tanoshimi
I have been trying to link my Steam account. I've tried my profile/gamertag (kodeslicer) and also my login username. Neither of those work, and I have definitely made and confirmed my profile is all public across the board. I've put those urls in my browser: http://steamcommunity.com/id/kodeslicer and it comes up as The Specified Profile Cannot be Found. I've got a request in with Steam to see if it's on their end. Anyone here help?
C-Beats
@Tanoshimi Open Steam. On the client hover of your profile name and click the second item on the drop box, should take you to your profile page. On the right hit Edit Profile button. On the first page that appears make sure you have something in the "Custom URL" and save, then use that custom url value in the importer
Tanoshimi
That did it. I'd seen other references to Custom URL in here, but thought those were special cases. I didn't realize that everyone has to do that, and it's the only way it works. Would be useful if they made mention of that on that import screen. It implies you just add your gamertag or login id and it would work. No one says go make a Custom URL. Anyway, that did it. Thanks for the assist. Jacobite39
I've done everything suggested here. Made a custom url (which works in browser), removed slash, profile public, etc., and Launchbox still tells me it can't access my Steam account when I try to import. Everything else is so easy to set up, what is Steam's deal? If anyone has any suggestions I may have missed, I'd be grateful. Otherwise, I give up. I can always run Steam games from Steam, after all... was just hoping to have everything under one nice front end.

Curious as to what you are typing in for your Steam Custom URL, as you should only be typing in your name and not the entire URL. like this:

Embarrassed but grateful for your help. Thank you. Edited November 17, 2021 by Jacobite39
Santherus
Just attempting to connect, and have found that I'm unable to connect my steam account; I note that in launchbox, the URL prefix is: http://steamcommunity.com/id Whereas my actual steam custom URL is prefixed with: https://steamcommunity.com/id/ i.e. We're in https-land! I'm assuming that this is the root of the problem - launchbox will never find my details as it's trying under http:// instead of https:// Am I missing something, or is this a genuine issue? That is not a problem, it works just fine here.
Santherus
Thanks for coming back to me 👍 Ah - So (assuming that your personal URL is also https or that they're interchangeable), I have some sort of other problem; Am a bit stumped; launchbox should be using the correct URL (as below) that I've keyed in: http://steamcommunity.com/id/santherus/ Have set steam profile to public. I also have the correct API key in there - I even revoked the existing key, and created a new one to no avail - still not able to access my account. Not quite sure where to go from here - In case it matters, I'm using the new release of launchbox to connect for the first time; had no problems with origin/gog/epic connection prior to this. Any ideas that might help?

Make sure in the import you're only typing "santherus" (without quotes) and not the whole URL as I've seen some people do
Santherus
Yep - I'm doing that; I made sure that I read through the whole (8 pages!) thread before posting; turns out that was incorrect - saw advice telling me to ensure that there WAS a trailing slash in the URL: turns out that this was incorrect - REMOVING the trailing slash allowed import to work successfully.😵 Simple as that. Thanks for the help, both of you 👍

g2mXagent
I followed this tutorial and did every step, but still can't import steam games! Your Account Could Not Be Accessed. I live in mainland China, so I think it might be because the government blocks the steam website? But I still can't import the game using VPN, the same error message. Jobhater
Yep, removing the end "\" on the URL is the fix. Thanks! steampowered.com/id/examplename
