LEDBlinky Support

Hi everyone,

I comeback on the problem of LT ans RT buttons. 

I try with ans Xbox gamepad, and Xbox hackpad. 

When I try to use Quick input to configure my buttons in ledblinky nothing happens with LT ans RT, it seems not be recognize. 

When you look in the conf software in Windows for gamepad, LT ans RT are recognize on Axis Z- ans + and not on button. 

Someone solve this problem ?

I'm confused about what you are trying to do here.

LEDBlinky for the most part is used for lighting LED buttons but you are talking about XBOX controllers. Can you explain more what you are doing or your set up?

The reason Quick Input doesn't see them is because they are analog inputs and button presses are digital. Some software will let you convert between them, but need to know your set up first.

Yes I tried with my xbox360 hackpad and a Xbox 360 gamepad. 

But for Windows when I press LT and RT button, system see zaxis- and zaxis+ but I push buttons on the gamepad. 

My panel has 8 buttons by players and I want to use the last buttons on the right for LT and RT liké L2 and R2 for PS gamepad.

I am still confused.

My guess is you are talking about mostly Retroarch. You want to map your arcade panel buttons to match the buttons on the XBOX controls. (So buttons A, B, X, Y, L1, L2, R1, R2)

If that is true, this is done within Retroarch, not sure how LEDBlinky fits in here.

So all those WIndows games you have to configure your buttons within each game to your XBOX controller. Some will not allow you to use analog input (Xbox triggers) for digital buttons. In these cases you would have t use a third party piece of software to do some remapping. 

I still don't understand how this is related to LEDBlinky. LEDBlinky doesn't have anything to do with gamepad configuration. Need more detailed information for me to be more helpful.

That's ok for me, my 8 buttons lights on, it works 😉 I've chosen a random input in the list, finally it's just a reference for ledcontroleditor.

But, now I try to configure lights for my arcade system, so I created my emulator profile in ledcontroleditor, import option find nothing, so I tried to create games manualy replacing space in the name by underscore, but it seems the system doesn't recognize System and Game.

Do you have an idea ?

It's strange because the system say "Emulator" MAME but I don't use MAME, I use Teknoparrot to launch my arcade Games like Blade Arcus

[EDIT]I find the solution, I changed my platform Arcade by Teknoparrot in Plateform for the Game, so now this is not see like a MAME game [/EDIT]

Another question : Is it possible to hide the ledblinky window version which launch at every system launch ?

Okay, I'm having a really weird and frustrating bug. MAME works great but I'm trying to set up LEDBlinky to work with other emulators besides MAME.

When I try to import the game in the Controls Editor, I find that Launchbox is parsing the name of the Playlist rather than the name of the emulator. So if I open an NES game from the "NES" Playlist, it tells LEDBlinky that I'm running it in the NES emulator. But if I just run it from "All" it tells LEDBLinky that it's running MAME. If I run it from the "4 Player Games" Playlist, LEDBlinky gets told I'm running the "4 Player Games" emulator...

So if I configure controls for NES games, the controls will only light up if I play it from the NES Playlist, otherwise it will be broken.

I feel like this is related to the "FE System Lists Names" entry in the LEDBlinky Config program but if so, I have no idea what to set it to so it works properly.

I think you may be right but not 100% sure how this works. Have you tried adding your playlist names to the FE Systems list in LEDBlinkyConfig.

I have tried to reproduce the issue on my set up, but the LEDBlinky debug log shows the correct information being sent to LEDBlinky even from playlists. (I haven't added anything to the FE Systems list.

All my lists are self made, maybe it's related to auto populated lists only? I'll try to play around with it more and see if I can come up with anything to help.

Edit: For a second I got the playlist name to show up in the Unknown games file, but further testing I can't reproduce it again. Will try more after work.

Just to add I've just tried to replicate here and I'm not seeing that behavior either... I have a mix of playlists being manual and autopopulated and I get the correct output every time. 

do recall seeing an issue where I was getting a mix of Windows vs Computer when running windows game (and I see this in my LED Blinky unknown games and think I nailed that down to being the platform name which i changed halfway through import by accident. 

I don't recall my exact fix, but once I aligned them all then it worked - so, double check your system names, ensure that you've got them correct, check scrape as aligns etc

FE System Lists Names would be used for a list in LB that only contains emulators/systems (not games/roms).

It did, but still not fixed.

I checked the "advanced logic" button and it's better... Now when I run the NES emulator from "All" it successfully parsed that it was an NES emulator and it works properly. However, when I run the same game from the "3+ Players" playlist, it does not.
Also, weirdly enough, I ran a Commodore 64 emulator in "All" and it didn't pass on that it was Commodore 64, and told LEDBlinky it was an NES game. Probably because NES was the last one it recognized? Very strange.

I have ledblinky mostly working the way I want it (thanks to rocket blinky for saving me a ton of work :)) and am really enjoying it. 

There are a few things I’d like to change but can’t find where to do it so am hoping for some advice. All these are mame games. 
 

 While playing rampage world tour my player 3 start and coins are white when I’d like them green. I’ve changed this value inside the controls editor and saved it but I see no change when I start game. I’ve also changed the voice to something else for a test but it doesn’t speak the change either.  It seems like it’s not using the file I’m saving to. Any ideas?

 

Also, probably a similar problem to above but when I start qbert it speaks “q apostrophe Bert”.   I don’t see a qbert entry in the mame control editor. Where is it finding what to say and how do I change it via ledblinky?

Assuming your controls editor is connected correctly to the rest of your setup (which it should be if everything is working) You need to restart LED Blinky for the changes to take effect.. I've done this a few times where I forgot and thought it wasn't working

Re. Qbert I'm pretty certain it's there if you used rocket Blinky. Could always do a find in the XML to double check

I can confirm that what I change in ledblinky is saved to the ledblinkycontrols.xml but on startup these changes don’t have any effect. This file is in the ledblinky directory. 
 

I’ve also rebooted just to make sure  

 

I’ve also searched in files for qbert and it’s only in the controls.ini and ledblinky minimized mame.xml. 

could it be reading a file from another directory?

Just checked - you're right on qbert - it's not there. But LEDBlinky will pull from MAME Controls.dat and  Colors.ini 

So you can import it manually if it's not saying the right thing per the box in the controls editor

Re. Rampage - I see two versions in my LB setup but only one in my rocketblinky created xml - I don't want to change mine but it's possible that the listed rampage in your xml isn't the same as your default
