neil9000 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 good call, I'm using a i5 gtx 770 and having issues ps1 on retroarch, epcsxerearmed however!! Quote
Lordmonkus Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 @DOS76You are talking about Mame / Arcade games though right ? @polymorph77Whats the CPU speed ? Quote
Lordmonkus Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 3.4 GHz and Retroarch PSX is slow ? That seems weird because I used to have a 3.2 GHz AMD cpu and it was fine. Quote
DOS76 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) Wonderswan games and Lynx games for sure are a problem and then even when you switch the resolution to how you like the controls are opposite which isn't the emulators fault but more how the machines were built when you played a portrait game it changed everything left is now up and up is right its chaos. It does it for NeoGeo schmups too pretty much every vertical game I can recall testing in RA on my multiple monitor setup. Its like RA isn't smart enough to realize your monitors resolution orientation and feed it to the game. Edited August 30, 2016 by DOS76 Quote
neil9000 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 lordmonkus, yep thats why I did not recommend it. I don't get it its my problem somewhere? psx hw nope garbage speed.. stand alone 4x res etc Quote
Lordmonkus Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 @DOS76Are you using Integer scaling and core aspect ratio ? Does NeoGeo even have any vertical oriented games ? I now there are some vertical scrolling but the monitor is still horizontal. I can't say anything about Wonderswan or Lynx since I can't be bothered with those systems. @polymorph77 Were you trying to use internal resolution scaling with RA PSX ? Quote
DOS76 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 @lordmonkusI never use the core Aspect Ratio I didn't think of that I always go 16:9 I set up a small square monitor and had games running on it in 4:3 with no black bars and it looked awesome. I actually think it was CPS2 then one of the FBA systems. Quote
neil9000 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 not really theres 2 versions, hw or not, neither really work. standalone I can crank right up, no issues. Quote
Lordmonkus Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 @polymorph77The hardware PSX core is still a work in progress and yeah they stand alone does upscaling way better which is why i recommend it for 3D games. For 2D games though I prefer RA PSX and a good CRT shader. @DOS76I (almost) always use integer scaling because I use a CRT shader and non integer scaling can cause issues with the scan line spacing. I also don't like messing with the aspect ratio. Yeah I have noticed with FBA and CPS games like Dimahoo for example it looks like shit. Quote
neil9000 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Apologies no offence meant or intended, but yeah I use a external ps emulator.. Quote
Lordmonkus Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Lol, no apology needed for anything. 1 Quote
neil9000 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Just my two pence, standalone smashes it on my pc, Quote
Lordmonkus Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Yeah ePSXe 2.x is pretty damn awesome. I'm not sure where the performance cut off point is in Retroach but I know on my 1.5 GHz laptop I couldn't use it even use it without shaders. But ePSXE 2.x even with Lottes shader it ran awesome. But on a system that can handle it I would still use RA PSX with a good shader for 2D games over ePSXe just for the other features of RA. Quote
neil9000 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 I Would say test it...Does it work for you? we all have different opinions on what is playable.. Quote
