Troubleshooting MAME High Scores

as I can see the response is very quick............................    I solved my problem with highscores .... maybe that will work for someone else ... I just sync my acount in launchbox .. the icon is on ur left where the BADGES are.. there was exclamation mark ... press that and in the next step sync your data ... working for me . my new highscores are showing up now !

i found that it's someting wrong with the game Blazing star. Other games are fine for MAME High Scores, but only blazing star has problem. the hiscore of this game is store in nvram, but it couldnt update nvram, no matter run by launchbox or run directly by mame. Theoretically, it will not upload any scores to the leaderboard, but it did one time. And you can check the leaderboard, so many guys' records are the same: 250000. Is it a bug of this game? Mame and romset 0.254

i tried many times to run the game by mame directly, and found that it can update the nvram of blazing star occasionally, but it doesnt most of the time. It is irrelvant to bios.

I can do the Hiscore, (just started playing it, 428.000 ish) but every time I do it, no entry in LB Mame Hiscore panel.

Looking in MAME directories it shows that a saveram file is saved in NVram directory when leaving the game. But no blazstar.hi file in Hiscore directory is to be found. Other games do the right thing.

Anybody knows what is up?

the same error for me. The hiscore of this game is not saved in .hi file, but saved in nvram. Unfortunitely, mame couldnt update hiscore data in nvram most of the time. I think it is a bug of the game (or all the neogeo games),

I spent a whole day to figure out the situation, and finally found something. You need to play twice continuously, then mame will update the nvram file data, but just the penultimate time, not the last one. That means, mame never saves the last time you play. So, if you just play one time to hit the hisocre then quick, nothing will be uploaded to the the LB Mame high score panel.

Would appreciate some input with my issue - hi scores not being sync'd with Launchbox. Tried with both 1943 and Joust. Log file attached. Many thanks!

Edit: the issue appears to be resolved; although MAME appeared to be the default emulator, I went to MAME emulator settings and on exit, it asked if I wanted to change all the games to use this default emulator. I clicked yes and it seems to be working (for now anyway)!

I just made a list of all high scores that I am sure are glitches. A few of them are mine. I did not include a few other scores that I suspect as glitches, but cannot be sure of. Hopefully these can be scrubbed to clean up the high score list. 

 

Having a way to reject specific scores for specific games could prevent most of these in the future.

I haven't been able to get High Scores to work for quite some time. I've been trying everything lately. Maybe you guys can lend me some insight. Also the log looks kinda crazy with a bunch of stuff repeating. Not sure what that's about. Anyways the high score portion is toward the bottom.

Just played Blazing Star 2 times .. and the first time I scored 305.310.. but that score was put on the scoreboard as 250.000??
then I played the game again, and this time I only scored 256.690, and this was correctly put on the score board ...

Looking at the score screen in the game, it says some thing like

ALL = 305.310
1 = 256.690
2 = 48620
3 = -------

and so on .. so I'm guessing the score app gets confused by the ALL part??

I have attached the .log if that helps :)

just to add to the post above, I had the exact same problem with dig-dug ... and the solution was the same!
if I delete the hiscore and nvram files for the game, AND then uses an old version of mame (in this case .239) it all works again .. and the hiscores are uploaded!

can anyone else please check if they can upload dig dug hiscores with .260 or never? :)

I just tested dig-dug with mame 0.261, LB version 13.1 with Neptune version 1.71 theme. I also had cloud sync turned off or unchecked. It did work both updating the theme in "custom line" as well as uploaded to high scores database. I have been having trouble with the theme showing high scores since updating tp 0.261 but the online updater has worked on all games that I've tried. I started with a clean nvram folder and hiscore foilder. and it worked also moved some high files and nvram files and those seemed to work. Just make sure you are using "hiscore" folder in the new mame version, does not seem to work with the old "hi" folder. Also using the nonag exe found in the downloads. Hope that helps.

Just tried it with sync on, still uploads high scores. Does not seem to matter if its on or off. The high score in the theme is still strange, Showed Mr. Flea but not any of the 1941,42,43,45 games. They all upload fine.
