Fursphere Posted June 13 Posted June 13 (edited) Updated to 13.22 Beta 4 - No emulators will launch in BigBox. Nothing. Nadda. Switching back to Launchbox 13.22 Beta 4 and everything works as it should. But nothing in BigBox. Edit - Just rolled back to 13.21 Release, and everything works again. 13.22 Beta 4 is busted. Are you using the default start up theme? Nothing would launch for me using CTC made startups. Quote
Fursphere Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Yes. Default theme. When playing with beta builds, you really don't want to run anything but the default theme. One less thing to troubleshoot. Quote
Fursphere Posted June 16 Posted June 16 (edited) Upgraded cabinet #2 to Beta 4 - Games launch just fine on that one in BigBox. So I re-updated cabinet #1 to Beta 4 - Same problem. Nothing launches in BigBox. Which is ultra weird since the two cabinets / two launchbox installs are more-or-less clones. I ended up rolling them both back to 13.21 release (and my twin driving rig builds). Going to take a break from betas for awhile I think. Edited June 16 by Fursphere clarification Quote

I was hoping it wasn't just me! I thought maybe it was my LB Theme, but the issue persists using the default theme as well, so I'm wondering what the common denominator is there. I'm a little antsy about the legacy "Unplayed" badge being removed now, because I need to distinguish at a glance between games that I've never opened (play count 0) and games that I've opened at least once (play count >0) for testing purposes but not played past 30 minutes, or even 1 minute since that's the minimum... so now they both fall under Not Started / Unplayed (or whatever value is set as the default for progress). drtechnolust Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Can confirm BigBox has some bugs - Theme options does nothing with clicked, Roms do not launch etc. Rolled back to 13.21 1 Quote

We did some extensive testing and while there doesn't look to be any issue with launching games, nor was there any code changes to our launching logic, we did find an issue with selecting items in a pop-up that we will fix for the next beta. Basically, choosing the first selected item on the list in a pop-up is not currently performing the intended action. Whether choosing "Launch With", or "Additional Apps/Versions" and choosing the first selected item, or really anywhere in the app when choosing the first selected item. Also, the minutes not saving with the Game Progress Automation rule will also be fixed in the next beta as well. We are currently finishing up work with other fixes and a couple more default hybrid themes that each have a unique aspect to them that highlights what's achievable, and as soon as everything is ready to go, beta 5 will drop with all of this. Thanks for continued testing of our betas, which makes our releases better. Don't forget to include all the details listed out in the first post, as it helps us with reproducing whatever you guys are seeing on your end without us having to read between the lines. 2 Quote
Fursphere Posted June 17 Posted June 17 @faeran That is one difference between my two cabinets. Cab #1 forces "Launch With..." (two options for MAME, one regular, one lightgun focused), while Cab #2 Is just "Launch" (no pop up). I honestly can't remember why I have a Lightgun specific version of MAME - probably something left over from when I was using SInden guns w/ custom bezel requirements. Quote
faeran Posted Thursday at 08:33 PM Author Posted Thursday at 08:33 PM Beta 5 is out with the following: Improvement: Added two new Hybrid View options to the default theme, bringing the total to three Improvement: The default theme in Big Box now displays your Game Progress status Fixed: Adjusting the time on automated Game Progress rules now properly saves (no longer stuck at the default 30 minutes) Fixed: Storefront imports from the EA app now work correctly after adapting to the takedown of EA's deprecated Origin API Fixed: In Big Box, all available options in pop-up menus can now be selected as expected Fixed: Non-English characters in the installer should now display correctly again Fixed: The media installer header now properly reflects the correct version of LaunchBox Known Issues: Default Big Box theme - Platform Hybrid 3 - Alphanumeric Index navigates incorrectly Big Box - FlowBadge element - the correct badge pack is not always being used The EA "fix" ended up being an entire rewrite due to EA taking down their old Origin API. For users that do have EA games, testing would be much appreciated. At this point we have all the default hybrid views we are looking to add to this release, including the 3 default views and the custom theme (called Aetherial) that can be downloaded from the Manage Themes section. Appreciate the help in testing the 4 views. We are approaching the end of this cycle, but we are not quite there yet. Everyone has at least one more week to test the changes of this release out. Thanks everyone! 3 Quote
Drybonz Posted Thursday at 09:45 PM Posted Thursday at 09:45 PM I'm sure this isn't a surprise to hear, but I can confirm the 30 minute game progress timer is working correctly now. Thanks for that. 1 1 Quote
zenanomaly Posted Friday at 12:27 AM Posted Friday at 12:27 AM Hate to exclusively be the RetroAchievements guy, but in the latest beta on my end it nothing at all is hashing. Doubled-checked successful login (even logged out and back in with no issue). Achievements still load inside the emulator for applicable games, but LB's hasher just isn't catching anything. Don't know if it's a related hasher issue, but noticed in the last full scan for the previous beta, the total number of games in the generated RA playlist was significantly lower than prior scans (by at least 300). Newly added RA sets haven't been catching for a while (going back a week or two?). Going down that same playlist now and after sampling multiple games on every platform, nothing is pulling up achievements. Afraid a new scan will just wipe out the list entirely. Last RAweb update was a week ago, and there were no platform name changes. Quote

None of your roms must be in ZSTD zip/7z format as the RAHasher doesnt support ZSTD yet. Quote
bbweiners Posted Friday at 07:26 PM Posted Friday at 07:26 PM Hi All, The following binding no longer works using the new PlatformHybrid view - <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Platform.Name}" Foreground="White" /> Is there something else that can be used for displaying the playlist name? Also, the new PlatformHybrid view is awesome!!! Quote

Might be worth opening up a separate troubleshooting thread to see if anyone else in the community is seeing what you are seeing. 4 minutes ago, bbweiners said: Hi All, The following binding no longer works using the new PlatformHybrid view - <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Platform.Name}" Foreground="White" /> Is there something else that can be used for displaying the playlist name? Also, the new PlatformHybrid view is awesome!!! Try Filter.Name instead of Platform.Name. There are many differences with the hybrid view. I'll try and whip up an article before release over on our WIP documents, but for now there's the 4 views available you can look through for help (try the Aetherial theme for more hints). If you haven't seen the new strategy guide area, you can find it here: https://feedback.launchbox.gg/help . It has a dump of the Big Box documentation file, and I'll be continuing to update it with future additions. Quote

Not the first time I've had non-reproducible RA issues during the beta cycle that resolve after a later update. 2 Quote
