Well this happend in both versions, standalone and RetroArch. When switching to fullscreen, MAME crops the top and the bottom, so that you only see half of your score at the top, and f.ex. only half of the Insert Coin at the bottom. I tried several settings, but it doesn't change. Resolution is set to 1920x1080, and I'm using it on a TV (set to 1920x1080), and not a monitor. I tried IntegerScale and CropOverscan, changed resolutions, custom aspect ratios, but nothing works. Any ideas? Thanks.

I was using the standalone, but like I said, had big problems with the mapping, might give it another try, but it definitely reset the mapping even though the cfg file was set to read-only. Now I'm using it with RetroArch, and that seems to work fine, but like I said, I might try standalone version again with cfg set to read-only, only to be sure.

Ha, that was the next thing I wanted to check once I'm home, and it was indeed the case, the config of MAME itself had the TAB key, and button 2 from that controller set up to menu. Good call mate!

I’m using 2 of the same 8BitDo SN30 Pro Plus controllers, thus Bluetooth. Setting the mappings configuration file to read only was one of the first things I tried, but strangely that didn’t work either. Does MAME use the default.cfg file from the cfg folder, or from the MAME root folder? I’m also quite happy with the RetroArch version, only this one little problem that prevents me from gaming.
-
I decided to eventually use the RetroArch MAME core for MAME as I only have huge problems with the standalone MAME build, always deleting my controller mappings, didn't find any solution in the end. Here it runs fine, the only little problem I have, is the on controller 1, when pushing the A button, it does the action it should, but it also opens me the MAME config menu at the same time. I don't find where this binding of that key is, searched everywhere, only thing I find is that the config menu is bind to L3, which on the other hand does NOT work. So basically games are unplayable, as pressing A pops up the menu over and over again.

I don't know what's the file limit for maxcso if you just drag&drop the files onto it, but there is one. I use following batch file: @ECHO OFF FOR %%I IN (*.iso) DO ( maxcso "%%I" DEL "%%I" ) Just pay attention, as this one also deletes the .iso files after converting.

That actually worked out fine, thanks for the tip.

I also prefer to do some stuff manually, as I don’t always fully trust LB. I only used combine f.ex. on disc based games like for PS, GC or DC. The clean up media being my worst fear always, although it works quite fine I think, but I’m always afraid that some stuff I need gets deleted by mistake, but perhaps that’s also just me ? I’m currently creating my Amiga LB entry, still have to go through the set to narrow down a bit. But I thought LB would cut out the stuff written between brackets thus not getting those long names? Then again, I’m using 95% of WHDLoad, where the names are not correct, could get messed up. Is it not that you can also import just the configurations instead?
-
Just do a "normal" import ROM, then choose the single files, it will then add only the ones chosen. If you right click on a game in LB, it shows you if it's 2,3,4... discs, or if you have the game in EU, US or JP f.ex. If you import an already existing game, it doesn't show it, that could be what happened when you scan for added ROMs, as f.ex. Aero Fighters is the same game as Sonic Wings in Japan, it will only import it once, but you will see it with a right click, where it shows you then the option to then launch either version of it.

Nope, but will try that.

I tried and liked the new Retro Console Theme quite much, but I'm fiddling around to get the correct pictures to be shown desperately. It will not automatically override the user's existing platform clear logo images when this theme is in use if put in the Clear Logo folder of the theme, I still get the older ones. Is that perhaps a bug, I even deleted the older pictures from everywhere, but BigBox still displays them. I was searching for them in any folder, but as far as I can see, they're completely gone. I tried several folders for the Clear Logo pictures, in the themes folder, in the individual platforms folder of LB, in the Clear Logo folder of the platforms folder under images in LB, nothing works. Is there a BigBox reset button?

Well how to explain, the wheel isn't visible, only when turning it pops up and you can see it, the moment you stop, it vanishes straight away. I'm using the Unified Redux theme and in the video you can see it, as soon as the boxart pops up on the right hand screen, the wheel disappears.
-
That’s not my problem, I just would like to see the wheel longer, like 3-5 seconds, instead of it disappearing straight away after 1 second. Looks nicer to me.

Quickest and easiest way to set up LaunchBox on new PC

But some emulators might be set up differently to use specific paths f.ex. -
Btw, the wheel spin turns transparent or completely off straight away after 1 second, is there an option to delay that, or make it constantly visible?

And make sure the drive letter is the same. -
Why do version numbers in names confuse LB so much?

Try AdvancedRenamer, great tool with many options for renaming batch files. -
Demul boots in some games with large scanlines
DeadVoivod replied to johnnyskullhead's topic in Emulation
Ok, I run ReDream on most games anyway, only the ones not working in it I run with Demul. What I found out now, out of the 10-12 games that don't run in ReDream, if I set the Demul.ini file to videomode = 1024, only 2 run with scanlines, the others just run fine, 1920, 1280 or 640 f.ex. give me scanlines in every game. I just still have no idea why this happens? -
Demul boots in some games with large scanlines
DeadVoivod replied to johnnyskullhead's topic in Emulation
I have exactly the same problem, but only on some games, not all of them, but most. Tried changing settings over and over again, but nothing seemed to help so far. I think it depends on the region, as some had the "scanlines", downloaded the other version, can't remember which region, and that one worked. But settings are all on auto, and if I change the region, it still does the same error. -
? Went to see them some month ago in Germany, awesome!!

It keeps your art, music, video files and stuff, so it doesn't necessarily start anew.

Here were my thoughts. PCSX2 runs absolutely fine. I bought a mini PC, the Hades Canyon, mainly to use with LB. The Intel NUC Hades Canyon i7-8809G is an Intel NUC Kit with 8th Generation Intel Core Processors and has a Radeon RX Vega M GH graphics (4GB, 8M Cache, up to 4.20 GHz) which supports up to 6 displays. Graphics outputs are 2x Mini-DP 1.2, 2x Thunderbolt 3, F+R HDMI 2.0a. Other connections like USB are Front: USB3, 2x USB 3.1g2 (Type A and C); Rear: 4x USB3, 2x Thunderbolt3 (USB3.1g2); INT: 2x USB2, 2x USB3, so plenty of them. Unfortunately it doesn't come with memory or storage, so I bought that separately, as memory I bought the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2x16GB 2.666Mhz DDR4. Storage wise I bought a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250GB M.2 NVMe SSD for OS, and a Crucial MX500 1TB (3D NAND, Sata M.2) for games and such. Furthermore I'm using an external 5TB for my ROMs collection for LaunchBox, which should be enough.

Creating an emulator core exception for a single game via Retroarch

Will this also work with other emulators? F.ex. I wanna use ReDream for certain DC games, but usually I’m using Dolphin, as not every game runs in ReDream.
