1) Noobs section is for Launchbox questions. Please post emulation related questions here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/forum/75-emulation/ 2) Use BGFX. The auto mode will use the least demanding rendering for your computer. It won't add scanlines, bloom effects, etc. You could use it if you have a CRT monitor, but that's it. 3) System filter in General Settings has nothing to do with graphic rendering. It is simply used to manually select a type of roms (ex: NeoGeo only, Arcade vs. Home, Vertical vs. Horizontal, etc). 4) FFBArcadePlugin may add force feedback and rumble effects to various arcade games. Look for it on github. 5) Folder INI file is intended to display a list of the game of the collection in System FIlter tab. It won't download anything. 6) I recommend that you search and take a look at the "documentation" section of mamedev. You'll find most of the answers you're looking for as a newcomer to MAME's universe. I've added the official emulator user guide as an attachment. I hope I've been helpful, have fun! MAME_268.pdf

Mr. RetroLust's MAME Lights Out Bezels Revisited

1) ArcCabView is simply an optimized modification of the crt-geom-deluxe included with the MAME distribution. You can use whichever one you prefer, or even another - it's a personal choice. 2) the original MAME is infinitely better than the horrible adaptation supplied with RetroArch. My artworks collection won't work with RetroArch anyway. 3) As it stands, the vast majority of the collection should work with future versions of MAME. All that's needed is for the name of an artwork to match the name of the ROM for which it's intended. Even if I never update again, 99% of the collection should work with MAME 0.268 and later. -

Mr. RetroLust's MAME Lights Out Bezels Revisited

Sorry for the extremely late reply, I hadn't seen your comment. Since then, the project has been updated like the original one and I intend to follow Mr. RetroLust releases as much as possible and regularly update it according to the new versions of MAME. In fact, a new update is underway that will convert some artworks not made specifically for MAME. Thanks for the kind words. -

Mr. RetroLust's MAME Lights Out Bezels Revisited

Hello, sorry for the late reply. 1) battlera : I can't reproduce this display bug. As I've tried with 3 different PC, I think it has something to do with your personal setup. 2) orunners : For now, as the gear shift is not referenced in MAME sources, it is not possible to display it on screen. If you're using a recent relase of MAME, it's best to use this fork, which is more future-proof. For the bezel, everything depends on Mr Retrolust. But the LED display is technically feasible, I could code it into the lay file. Please note that for LaserDisc games, the emulator of choice is https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypseus-singe Much more advanced than MAME. Yeah, replace all the zips on each update. The folder ini is completely accessory but allows you to display a list of all games with artwork. 1) For games which don´t have a dedicated bezel, if a system bezel exists, it will be loaded first. Otherwise, the generic horizontal and vertical bezels will be used as fallback artworks. 2) Editing your MAME ini file, you can select a multitude of different artworks folders. This is very practical, but it can lead to conflicts, and not all artworks may always be available. Please note that this collection is already perfectly compatible with the classic artworks of Mr. Do. Thank you for your kind comments -

A few years ago, Hydranger from MameWorld forums published some 16:10 bezels. I have updated the lay files to the new artwork system but have not yet made those public. Here's the original link : https://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=artwork2&Number=366961

Vertical Screen Overlays for Retroarch Mame or FBNeo
kloug666 commented on rdscarlisle's file in Platform Bezels/Overlays
Nice try. I would like to mention that I downloaded a sample to see what a home-made adaptation for MAME could give (I wouldn't use retroarch for anything in the world). So, that's almost perfect for the horizontal screens. Nevertheless the proportions of some vertical ones are particularly distorted... In some cases you should avoid stretching 'em to that point (e.g.: 1942, all of the Taito Egret II). Those screens were 3:4 ratio only, bro! I understand that this is a first attempt and it is promising. Keep up the good work! -

Mr. RetroLust's MAME Lights Out Bezels Revisited View File LIGHTS OUT! BEZELS UPDATED TO THE NEWEST MAME CODE Mr. RetroLust created a series of bezels which is a masterpiece : Yet as he uses a rather old version of MAME, some of those bezels are not compatible with the latest releases which use a redesigned artwork system (MAME 0.226 onwards). As I intend to continue to enjoy his creations in optimal conditions, I have undertaken to update all the lay files and to correct recent incompatibilities. The original project uses a reflection and scratch layer to add a realistic effect which defines its style. You will find here the complete arcade 4K widescreen collection updated to the most recent lay code and expanded in various ways. Mainly based on the version 17.0 of the original collection : I’ve updated/edited all the lay files. Renamed files in sync with latest MAME release (0.281 at the time of this writing). Merged some archives to avoid any conflict with the classic artworks of Mr. Do and progetto-SNAPS. Converted and integrated some of Mr. RetroLust's non-MAME specific arworks*. Added Xeno Crisis bezel by Layer0730. Added blue MAME cab bezel by d66dle. Added some new artworks in the same style (Ex: Darius II Dual-Screen). Replaced most of the screen overlays based on pics with lay-coded ones according to the latest MAME sources (ex : Circus). Corrected some MAME artwork display known bugs (ex : Dead Eye). Added switchable gear shift for racing games when possible (ex : Pole Position). Added optional custom enhancements (ex : Galaga). Added color variations (ex : Barricade). Added BIOS specific bezels (ex : Deco Cassette System). Added generic horizontal and vertical bezels to use as fallback art files for every game missing individual artwork. Included a folder INI file to display a list of all games of the collection. If you spot a bug, or a game I forgot to add a gear shift, please indicate it in the comments, I will try to rectify it ASAP. * : Converted for MAME and upscaled to 4K some artworks from HD Lights Out! Retroarch Bezels 8.5. Converted for MAME the Sammy Atomiswave 4K Lights Out! Realistic Bezels 1.0.0. Converted for MAME the Sega Naomi 4K Lights Out! Realistic Retroarch Bezels 1.3. INSTALLATION Easy 'n' dirty way (not recommended) : Unzip all LightsOutRevisited0-Z archives in MAME/ARTWORK/ Install updates one after the other, just unzip and replace all files when asked. Put horizontal and vertical INIs in the root folder of your MAME installation or in MAME/INI/PRESETS/ Advanced 'n' clean way : Use the provided DAT to rebuild the collection with Clrmamepro, Romcenter or your favorite ROMs manager. Place the resulting ZIP files in MAME/ARTWORK/ Put horizontal and vertical INIs in the root folder of your MAME installation or in MAME/INI/PRESETS/ It is ESSENTIAL to use the included horizontal and vertical INIs to make the generic fallback bezels work. Optional : Put vector, vector-mono and raster INIs in the root folder of your MAME installation or in MAME/INI/PRESETS/ Put Lights Out Bezels Revisited INI in MAME/FOLDERS/ The FOLDERS INI file is entirely optional. The vector and the vector-mono INIs are highly recommended but not essential. The raster INI is ONLY to be used if you use the D3D HLSL graphics mode. I personally use the BGFX graphics mode for the rasters and the fantastic ArcCabView shader from Ducon2016 and Houb (included in UPDATE TO LIGHTS OUT 10.0 - MAME 0.276). Let's play ! All hails to Mr. RetroLust for the incredible work that he made with his original bezels. Special thanks to the following people who directly or indirectly inspired and/or helped me with this project : AntoPISA, d66dle, Ducon2016, Houb, Layer0730, Mr. Do, numerous members from MAMEWorld, Starman99x, Vaughan and Widge-5. After downloading and testing the release, if you enjoyed it, please come back and react by reviewing or liking the page. It will take you just a few seconds and help me give visibility to this project. Submitter kloug666 Submitted 11/29/2022 Category Platform Bezels/Overlays

A big thank you for this beautiful collection. The subtle effects create an extraordinary atmosphere, I feel like I'm back in the late 80ies 😁 I just spent two week updating the lay files to the new artwork system (MAME 0.226 onwards) because some of them became incompatible with it (especially files with screen overlays). If you wish I can send you a private link so that you can publish them by yourself or if not, would you allow me to share this work here and/or at Mameworld please?
