  1. Hi @mgtroyas, what you're likely observing is the disk image caching. If you increase the RAM cache, in theory, there should be less and less disk access. All those images will either take up a lot of RAM, or have to be repeatedly read from disk. There's unfortunately not a lot that can be done to remedy that. Running LaunchBox from a NAS is unfortunately not a supported scenario; there's just too much bandwidth required for the images. That said, I am aware of the performance issues with large collections, and I'm currently working on optimizing it all. I'm focusing on loading and saving with large collections, though, as that is where the biggest issues lie (saving a game, for example, takes far too long with large collections). Per loading all the thumbnails instead of only the ones shown, and generating the thumbnails, that is by design and can be disabled if you turn off the RAM cache. That's what the RAM cache does; it loads as many images as will fit into the cache size into RAM in order to improve the scrolling speed. Turning the RAM cache off should stop this from happening at the expense of scrolling speed, and you should observe significantly less disk access in this scenario.
  2. Hehehehehe. The Russian mafia keeps begging me for emails, but I always do the right thing and turn them down.
  3. For what it's worth, not sure if you're stuck with Project64 for some reason, but Retroarch works really great once you get past the initial learning curve. The latest version is a lot easier too. Sooner or later I think I'm gonna create a setup video to show how to get started with Retroarch and LaunchBox/Big Box. That is, unless somebody else wants to. ;)
  4. Yeah, generally I have really good luck using Retroarch for as many platforms as possible, though obviously it won't do everything. That does help provide a certain amount of uniformity. Eventually I would like to integrate something like Hyperlaunch into LaunchBox, but make it "just work" instead of it being a configuration nightmare.
  5. Hi @eric, this is just because every emulator likes to do it differently; it really has nothing to do with Big Box. When you use a controller, the built-in AutoHotkey stuff attempts to make it work for all emulators, but I don't have anything like this for the keyboard, as of yet (though it is on my list). I know some people have had good luck with HyperLaunch (I think that's what it's called). However, it's far from easy to set up.
  6. Thank you guys. Martin, ha, that's a good point. Yeah, I know all that; every once in a while someone just gets on my nerves and makes me want to curse them into oblivion. I guess what gets to me the most is that these people really think that I care *that* much about *them in particular* using the app that I would change everything just for them. They must think I'm desperate or something lol. No harm done, just shaking the dust off my feet.
  7. We might actually see a Linux port at some point, largely because the .NET Framework is making huge strides on Linux right now. However, I don't see it happening very soon. DOSBox and ScummVM I do have on my list to allow customizing/moving. I honestly don't see scraping PSP or PS3 icons happening, mostly just because it's not likely to be a very common request.
  8. Every once in a while (maybe once every couple of months), I get a nasty email like this: I refuse to acknowledge/respond to these people directly. The last thing I want to do is anger someone further into some sort of stupid retaliation. Just posting it here as a coping mechanism really. Here's how I'd very much like to respond: But I'll refrain from responding like that. (Nevermind the fact that I just did.) ;)
  9. Very nice, Martin. I think the problem with the uploads is the % sign.
  10. Hi @eric, in fact it's not there yet. Hoping to add an option for this sooner rather than later. :)
  11. ^^^ Yup. I promise it'll get better guys. Gonna have to bite the bullet and build our own database first.
  12. Very cool @Syriacn! Any chance you could share the modified launcher files and/or give us more detailed instructions? That's a pretty great setup. I've gotten *lots* of requests for this in particular, so you would win the Internets. :)
  13. By the way, I'm in the process of building my own cab, as well, actually. Really excited about it. I don't plan on making a video, though, but I'll start a forum post here soon on it. :)
  14. Nice @eric! That's really awesome, excited to see the video and such. Of course I'd love to feature you once you have it all done. Thanks to @bd00, we do have a .ai (Adobe Illustrator) file of the Big Box Logo. It doesn't have the text on there with it, but maybe I can put that together. I just don't have Illustrator and don't really know what I'm doing with it (though I know Photoshop pretty well). The font for the logo is Open Sans. Let me know what else you need. :) https://www.dropbox.com/s/pntkivp8hzk3j5n/BigBox_Logo.ai?dl=0
  15. No worries @Syriacn, thanks. :)
  16. Hi @DOS76, you should be able to highlight the games from that platform, and then run the Download Metadata and Images process.
  17. Sure; I do like that concept, but it's still a pretty significant undertaking, so unfortunately I can't promise anything soon.
  18. @LeviWB, welcome. To combine platforms, you would select all of the games from one platform, and then right click and Edit them. This will bring you into the Bulk Edit wizard. From there, you can set all the games to be the other platform. Not sure if that solves your problem, but that's how you would combine platforms.
  19. Very cool. Suprisingly though lol, looks like we only got about 8 visitors from there yesterday.
  20. I believe you should have editing permission now, @monyarm. I'm fond of open source PC games, so sure. Not sure about the legality of homebrew games, so I really have no idea there.
  21. Very cool, @monyarm. Great idea; I appreciate that you've kept it legal, too. :)
  22. Yes, I'm guessing somehow or other there's an invalid file name in there. Hopefully you can edit the XML file. If you could email your LaunchBox.xml file to jasondavidcarr at gmail dot com (before you fix it) then I can probably get the issue fixed in LaunchBox so that at least it lets you edit it. :)
