  1. If the SHAs are different...then it's a different file. Why on earth would the SHAs be different, I don't know. I took the file directly from the server, which is what the app does (even though the app renames the file to a random GUID, which is what you see, it's still the same file). So...something changed the file. Either the download got corrupted (possible), or it got infected somehow (also possible). That's my best guess.

    Doom 4

Wolfenstein 3D was the first (popular) 3D shooter. There were earlier games from Id (like Catacomb Abyss) and I believe some others as well, but they were all too crappy to really go anywhere. Wolfenstein 3D is another guilty pleasure of mine. ;)
  3. Awesome. Let me know when you're ready and I'll get you hooked up.
  4. Thanks for detailing those, shinra. I'm able to replicate them so hopefully I can get the fixes into 5.0.
  5. Gotta wait for the patent to expire. ;) Still, does look pretty cool. Kind of surprising that it hasn't been done already.
  6. Hi Fluffo, I just scanned the file here, and it came up clean for Malwarebytes and around ~50 other engines, so I have no idea what might have happened. I suppose it's possible that your computer is infected somehow, but otherwise, I don't get it. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/c73146bfc0e1f51ad3cccd435f15f7d9f0b219e182bd480dd5aa0c0adb417faf/analysis/1434598233/
  7. Great idea @alobar. That's likely a challenge to implement generically for all emulators, but I can see it being really useful. I'll add it to my list to research, at least.
  8. Awesome, awesome, awesome. It's much appreciated. :)
  9. Thanks Troy. :) I'll probably end up adding both platform additional apps and bulk editing. Both are on my list.
  10. There is an "interesting" algorithm in there that is used when sorting, and it definitely needs tweaked. I keep trying to fix it, only to fix some things but end up causing other issues. I probably just need to revert it all to the defaults and rely more on the Sort Title.
  11. Thanks @EvilEd for helping @Rick out. Using the wizard probably won't work for expansions like this, so you'll need to do it manually. It looks like Ed's instructions are a good start.
  12. Hi @Feyling, sorry to hear about the trouble. If you can work with me, I can get it fixed. What type of games were you exporting (DOS, ROMs, Windows)? Can you email me your LaunchBox.xml file? Email it to whatever@launchbox-app.com.
  13. Hehehehehehe. Clearly, all is well and good in LaunchBox Land.

    Doom 4

Nice. Looks awesome. DOOM holds a very special place in my heart too...embarrassingly I still play the original, usually once a year or so. I still own the floppy version of DOOM II, but the floppies unfortunately went kaput a long time ago.
  15. Nice, yeah, I think I'll have to grab one just to try it out eventually. Let us know how it feels. :)
  16. ps4isthefuture said Maybe I should have made a topic for each set....or next time. I didn't think that this post could wreak havoc on some computers or mobile devices with loading all the youtube previews. Thought it would be nice to have on here, they need help too, and it's a little SEO for your site as well. As of now, on google, if you search "the video game years" SEO for google has already picked it up and has placed your site page 2 #8. Google's getting quicker, a few years ago it took 2 weeks. Yeah, kind of amazing these days. I'm amazed how well this site does with SEO. I owe a whole lot to WordPress, and a lot more to the community on these forums for that. ;)
  17. I blame @ps4isthefuture for my procrastination. I've watched through 1978. ;)
  18. Killer. Always loved video game history. Lol...hmm, development or "research". ;)
  19. Glad you're back, @Hippyshake. You were missed. :) I still love @bd00's suggestion, but the forums software has some irritating limitations, and I can't get it implemented well. It automatically adds spaces around the user's name, and there's no way to get rid of the colon. So, hmm. :/
  20. Rick said Jason... Sorry to necromancy this topic, but I believe my question is relevant to this same scraping issue. Is there a way to manually point Launchbox to a GamesDB page? I added an old DOS game called "The Amazing Spider-Man and Captain America in Dr. Doom's Revenge!". It has a GamesDB entry at http://thegamesdb.net/game/24493/ but Launchbox seems completely unable to find the page no matter how many variations of the title or URL I enter. Is there a reason that the work-arounds for scraping problems presented above aren't working for me? Thanks. Rick Hi @Rick, it looks like I recently broke the ability to enter in a game's numeric ID from TGDB; that used to work. I'll see if I can get it working again.
  21. Wish I could have jumped in on this conversation earlier. I haven't even read all the way through yet. I don't want to sound conceited or mean, but I am currently the only spokesperson for the direction of LaunchBox. I'm not good enough at communicating the state of things clearly or quickly enough for anyone else to have a good enough perspective there. Local scrapers are *still planned*. As a matter of fact, I keep re-evaluating how we're storing data, and keep trying to come up with a solution to this issue. It hasn't made it into LaunchBox as of yet because I feel like I haven't come up with a good solution that works for all types of games and/or platforms. Performance is also still an issue for ridiculously big libraries when saving, so the end solution needs to solve that problem as well.
  22. Hi @Hippyshake, I do, actually. I only got through a few platforms myself, so we're still pretty close to needing everything. I started with the beginning of the alphabet, so I worked on 3DO, Amiga, and Amstrad.
  23. Hi @Wattoo, unfortunately no one has volunteered yet to help with a French translation. Interested?
  24. @AFaustini, support for archives like this is planned, but it's not there yet. I'll put a +1 on it. :)
