  1. Huh... that's strange. Either way, you're going to fix that soon hopefully.
  2. Game Lounger said Anyway I don't usually make accounts or post on forums, but since you're getting ready to launch I feel I need to say something about a couple of issues that either I am not seeing an option for or have not been addressed previously. You see I'm planning on using BigBox as the primary interface for multiple gaming PCs. As such my goal is to eliminate the need for a keyboard and mouse entirely. I'm going as far as replacing explorer as the Windows shell with BigBox. As of today with the release of your latest beta I feel it is very close to what i'm trying to achieve. However, there a couple of the options when going inside the game details that I feel should either (A) be eliminated or (B) give us the option to turn them off. These are the "Open Folder", "Open Images Folder", and "Open EMULATORNAME" .... Personally, I use the open folder etc options almost everytime I open LB. Since I am a video creator and use it every time I produce my show RNG, getting to the images folder easily is really really handy, and opening just the emulator without a game was added at request because if you want to edit settings of an emulator, some wont let you get to all of the settings or any of the settings if a game is loaded.
  3. ps4isthefuture said I do not have the numbers on in the left panel and I could use the 512MB but when I have it open it is already using 378MB straight off the get go. So just between Win 7, LB, and FF I'm sitting at 2.82GB of my 8, launch NBA 2k15 from LB and then add 3.8 more, so around the 6.6ish area. I only have 6GB and I sometimes set LB to 1GB. Though... unless I am playing a 64bit Steam game, or a game where I set the exe as 4GB enabled, no one exe should take more than 2GB. 32bit exe limitation. So... I am generally ok at 512mb. I was just curious if the 512mb of RAM Cache made LB's performance better in the past.
  4. ps4isthefuture said Yea, still using CPU (15 - 22%) after turning controller support off and the RAM cache was always off. However I just noticed that LB continues to show as running in the Task Manager processes. Now I have to manually end the process. Not sure how long it has been doing that, didn't really look before. It can take a while to close down, even for me. I don't have poor performance anymore though so, they're not related. At least im fairly sure. Do you happen to have the Game Count turned on for the left pane? I am trying to run through a list of things I know can drag performance a bit. If you have 512mb of RAM to spare though, I do suggest that be on. It just helps Images load faster... unless LB in on an SSD in which case there may be minimal improvements.
  5. Kriven said You guys rock. Only a little. :P
  6. Mute64 said So i use my Xbox360 controller for most of my games but for the n64 i use a n64 controller which is classified as a generic usb Joystick on the pc, i noticed launchbox only accepts inputs from one controller which is fine but AutoHotKey feature accepts inputs from multiple controllers so when im playing n64 games the button A and Z closes the game :( very anoying. If i could Just have one Master controller like the x360 controller to navigate LaunchBox and close games would be good. I have the N64 and Gamecube controllers from RetroLink too. I have the controller portion of LB disabled because of bad performance, but why not just not use the N64 controller? It should only need the 360 pad. They're classified as separate pieces of hardware so... Do either programs not clearly identify them separately? Also, if the issue is with AutoHotKey there isn't going to be much in the way of fixes that we can do, though I can see why its a shame if the game closes every time you press A and Z, that would suck cause most games use that.
  7. Outrider said I can attest to that as well, though I'm currently using an i3 dual core at 1.9 ghz on this laptop rather than my desktop. But my percentages are almost identical to ps4's. It never drops below 20% with controller enabled. I tried your suggestion to turn off controller support, and after restarting LB, that worked. The cpu usage will spike when you are using it, and drops quickly to 0 after minimizing it. So it looks like the having the controller enabled keeps the app active. Yea, there is a nasty bug with the Controller being enabled that I came across several months ago. I don't want there to be a bug, but the fact it is happening more and more means that Jason now has reasonable cause to go and dig and fix it. I don't blame him at all for needing more people to say something though, cause now he has to go fix the controller implementation... which depending on how long that can take could take away from implementing and fixing up Big Box Mode. Either way, I am glad this fixes it for you for now.
  8. donarumo said I'm attempting to add and play some games only supported by daily build versions of ScummVM. I tried manually editing the main xml file to add the games but LaunchBox replaces the daily build version in the scummvm folder with the current stable version. Would love an option to use the daily build version instead and add those newer games to the scummvm list as well. What I do with DOS, is what could work with ScummVM. I replace the default build with Daum. What I did was backed up the DOSBox folder, so backup the ScummVM folder. Then, I renamed the Daum folder to exactly what the regular DOSBox folder was before. Then, I renamed the 64bit Daum exe to what the original DOSBox exe was. From there, launching normally just launches Daum instead. This should be the same method for ScummVM but rather the ScummVM naming conventions. Edit: Note that this is a workaround. Jason knows that people want to be able to change DOSBox and ScummVM versions.
  9. esareias said Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else was running into this problem. I have the Skyrim script extender (SKSE) that I use to launch it, normally if I launch the game through that .exe file it works perfectly. Though when I launch it from Launchbox using that .exe file it opens then crashes upon getting to the start screen. I don't know if there are any parameters that I would need to add to keep it from crashing or if it just doesn't work with the program. Regardless I love this program and if Skyrim doesn't launch from it, I won't die. Thanks for any help! Are you launching it through Steam or through the exe? What you can do, which is what I do to launch it. Backup your exe files inside your Skyrim folder. Delete the launcher exe and rename the SKSE file to the Skyrim launcher file. Just copy and paste. So if you launch it from Steam, it should launch SKSE. Now, add your steam games to LB and launch Skyrim from that method. Edit: And if you have the 4GB patch enabled... it should detect it through SKSE.
  10. I updated the main post about the updates to the game. I hope everyone enjoys it. I want to and will flesh out this starting section of the game... where it ends may be extended in to a bit further in to the story... or this starting section may be extended with more story. There will most certainly more objects, people etc to interact with. A Breathing World. If I add new story lines this early, where I extend or cut ... what happens to this prologue I know I like the start and stop of it. It flows well for me... and I would need to keep that intact while still providing an interesting world to explore. Please, any comments, questions, concerns, design philosophy questions/remarks, criticisms. Anything. Let me know please. Enjoy it.
  11. Maddoc1007 said Jason Carr said @Maddoc1007, does the file play in Windows Media Player? The Windows engine is used to play the videos, so if it has issues on your machine, or is missing codecs, that's the likely problem. Hi @Jason you were right and hit the nail on the head straight away wasnt a problem with codecs as have no problem playing any video no matter what format it was that i had de-activated windows media player as i do no use it. I re-activated windows media player, videos now showing in BigBox and playing flawlessly new beta is really quick schrolling playing vieos going to games etc cannot find any problems thus far. Seems windows media player is a must to view and play videos in BigBox. Ah, I didn't even think of this.
  12. scree said The official documented way to exit ePSXe is via the ESCAPE key. This is a poor choice as most emulators use the ALT+F4 method and it's easy to forget and use ALT+F4 for ePSXe sometimes. On the subject of ePSXe being an abandoned project, nothing could be further from the truth. It's had several updates over the past 8 years, the most recent being in January 2015. The emulator, it's devs and their website are very much alive. The site being live, which it has for years, and a one or two updates in 8 years doesn't make them alive necessarily. :P They made a 0.0.25 update which was... shocking. The emulator has been pretty much considered dead. Besides a few android developments. And yea, Escape works but hitting the X in the window should also just work. Alt + F4 isn't ... generally normal for most programs to utilize. I mean, it works in most / all programs regardless because it is built in to Windows. Some programs can disable it I believe, but even if they don't that doesn't mean it was the intended method to shut down the program.
  13. Jason Carr said So apparently I broke platform images in Big Box. Fixing... Good job. :P On the fixing part of course ;)
  14. Mute64 said So some of you may allready know of this issue but when closing epsxe down with alt f4 or select start on x360 controller it closes the game down but the process still runs in the background. .. and you can still hear the game music.. anyfix for this?? No, it all depends on how the emulator is closed. I think its just a bug and because that emulator has had 1 update in about 8 years... its safe to say its more or less dead. Your only option is to switch emulators (the PS1 core in RetroArch is good but hard to get started with so if you need help just ask or find the thread on that RetroArch core) or to close down the process in Process Manager. Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  15. jpaparone said Sorry for the delayed response - I wasn't able to work on it again for some time. I backed up the images and xml file per SentaiBrad's direction, deleted and re-installed launchbox. Copied the backed up files and things are working great. Thanks! Well I am happy that it got fixed then!
  16. Kriven said Literally all of my Big Box videos are in .mp4 format and work fine, so I don't think it's a formatting issue. Well it could be the compression method used by YouTube. It might not be a standard x264. It could be an internally developed codec or a variant of x264. Hell, it could even be x265. In which case out of date codecs would be of no use. Edit: The container is more of a formality and what it offers for features. Like mkv being one of the first and best to offer multiple Audio and Subtitle tracks to be embedded and being able to switch them on the fly, given the media player is also capable of doing so.
  17. XBMC / Kodi is what I use on my machines. However, Plex is amazing for its network ease of use. My WiiU can play my media through it as its run through the browsers. So long as the device can run it, its good to go. I can also use it easily outside of my network as long as I set it up. Otherwise, I actually quite like my set up. File size isn't an issue, its just the ability to handle my large library of music. iTunes feels bloated just opening and WMP only felt bloated after importing everything. I am also curious about the Winamp resurgence now that AOL doesn't own them.
  18. Maddoc1007 said will download another youtube video and try thanks SentaiBrad No problem, even If I don't have an apparent answer I will try really hard to make sure someone gets to the solution. I also like to help. :) Edit: Oh, and just in case you want to certainly rule out codecs, if you don't already have K-Lite installed you could give that a try. http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm The standard pack should do just fine. If you have any errors with codecs as well, when the pack installs it will try to detect them and fix them for you as well. It's not perfect but I've installed it on many machines and its worked great.
  19. garbanzo said No worries, I'm just brainstorming :) I really like to organize things. I've spent an extraordinary amount of time with foobar and Directory Opus in order to get things set up just right. Now that I've found an app that lets me launch anything on my PC with custom images, and to tag each item in any way I like, I'm just a little over-excited! I use XBMC / Plex for my videos with FileBot for proper naming. LaunchBox for games, mostly emulated because my Steam library is way too large to have them all installed, and I would like them to be if they're in LB... and It updates really fast. As for music, I just use Winamp because WMP and iTunes take up way too much of my computers resources for just playing music.
  20. Maddoc1007 said No other player installed all codec installed videos play in pc no problem havnt tried another file in BBM just one to try and get it working before i download any as testing to get working so i can link ones for my daughter games. All youtube videos play with potplayer its a fantastic player launch all my videos through shortcuts in another version of LaunchBox 4.9 and they all work flawlessly. Thanks anyway will wait for Jason to answer maybe its the format mp4. Well that is why I was asking if other downloaded YouTube videos will play with this method or at all. If they wont, then either BBM has an issue with mp4 formatted video files or the proper codecs aren't installed.
  21. garbanzo said After playing with it a little it can sort of get me where I want. It's good that they're dynamic - rather like autoplaylists in a music app like foobar or similar. But in order to get what I want to get, I would have to have a huge list of custom filters, all with prefixes to sort them properly (2D Platform - Super Mario Bros, or Text Adventure - Infocom). To go further would be even more complicated - finding all handheld Super Mario Bros. games from 4th gen systems, or finding all Zork games and arranging them in the main window by release year for example. Multi-level filtering is much cleaner (select "Text Adventure" in the first filter (genre), "Infocom" in the second (publisher), then "Zork" in the third (series)). I think it would be particularly important if, as I've seen implied here in the forums, LB eventually expands to fully support other media. Think iTunes... Well other media is being discussed, but it hasn't been fully decided on yet. As far as I am aware. However, even the custom filters could use some more fine tune layering. Jason will see these requests when he is awake.
  22. Maddoc1007 said @SentaiBrad hi SentaiBrad have you any idea what im doing wrong that video wont play/ thanking you in advance Honestly, no. I haven't even booted up BBM since release. I currently don't have an interest in that. If you're playing video from your PC and its not working, my only thought could be that it is a codec issue. For quick troubleshooting however, have you tried to play the video file from inside BBM with another Video player? Windows Media Player, VLC, Media Player Classic? Also, do other downloaded YT video's work with that player at all?
  23. garbanzo said SentaiBrad said garbanzo said Cool idea, I wouldn't have thought to do that. Thanks! A second level of filtering would really be a nice feature. Imagine a second sidebar stacked below the current one. The top could filter to platform and the bottom to genre for example. With a system like that, you could use the top level for broad categories, and wouldn't need multiple instances of the app. Is your goal not attainable with the custom filters? Wowzers. I hadn't seen that feature. Awesome! Yea, its a bit hidden but its an awesome feature with a premium license.
  24. Kriven said I've sent you the .xml file. Edit: So on the hunch I had earlier, I went and changed all of my custom platforms to just "PC" and Big Box isn't locking up anymore... Going to miss my excruciating organization. My bigger question is why is it locking up at the mention of custom platforms? Unless I missed that.
