  1. Yea, I think a setting or two was just off, hence why I asked you to grab the latest nightly. I just didn't know exactly what setting. I am glad I could help a little bit.
  2. You downloaded the Nestopia core from inside RA and you made sure that LB had that file path right?
  3. I know you can create several different configs for controllers, I am not sure about a command line argument to load one specifically.
  4. What version of RA are you using? If an older version, download the new 1.2.2 and copy over your System folder for BIOS. All cores are downloaded from inside of the application now, actually, everything you want for RA is now downloaded from within. It's a lot easier to manage. See if that fixes it. The only other thing I can see that would be the problem is your application path settings. I don't have a terribly long path, but generally ./ is used for shorthand with paths, not .../. Even then, I am not sure LB uses them, so try putting in the full path. See if that makes a change if updating to 1.2.2 doesn't work.
  5. This is news to me. I only wanted you for your Body. LaunchBox is a bonus. ;P
  6. Hey you found it, this is the one I remembered. But it was a while ago... Looks like It's been updated since I saw anything about this, which is good. Let's just hope this group / person keeps going. I do want to state though, treat it like any other emulator. Some things may work, some things may not. You may need to just wait for updates or forks etc.
  7. With some of the emulators it doesn't matter. Half of my stuff wont load for some reason, I have the BIOS too. It is just one of those divisive Systems that doesn't have a decent emulator attached to it. It sucks.
  8. I avoid RetroArch and the PCE stuff. It wants to only load half of the things for me. It's why I've used normal emulators for it. We actually seem to be getting 3-5 threads on several of the same subjects. This one of them. xD
  9. Yea, I haven't had any issues at all. Actually, the upgrade went extremely well for my girlfriend and I. It even carried over Start8 for her which we had to uninstall because of graphical glitches. Start10 is out, but we're not gonna get it. We like the Start Menu. It's enough like Windows 7 start menu, but the new fancy things that it makes us happy. I love Windows 8 not because of the Modern UI, but because of the OS improvements. Do note, Windows 10 is very much like Windows 8 on the backend. There are some differences, but when it comes to program compatability most Windows 8 stuff should work. Some wont work exactly right like Start8 because the Start Menu is inherently different. So if you have some 3rd party applications that are messing with the start menu, or anything for that matter, they can have bugs. Either see if they have an update for them, try a new variant or try more vanilla OS. What all do you change with what.
  10. I was afraid that me calling Jason a Jerk/Dick would not transfer either. I expected people to scream at me. xD
  11. I can close LaunchBox when ever I want.
  12. I found something cool in Windows 10. See my post here for info. It has to do with 16 bit applications. https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/monkeys/windows-10-tweaks-tricks-and-community-sharing-please-read#p4893
  13. I found something very interesting when searching around the Local Group Policy Editor about 16bit applications. In your start menu search for "Local Group Policy Editor". On the left under PC Config expand Admin Templates -> Windows Components -> Application Compatibility. On the right "Prevent Access to 16-bit applications". Double Click it then select enabled on the left. Then hit Apply. I will be curious to know if this works at all.
  14. Jason Carr said Oh, I forgot to tell you guys. If you run LaunchBox on Windows 10 your hard drive will crash. Not funny, jerk. I thought about something a bit more harsh, but I'll tell you that on Steam. ;)
  15. I got Windows 10 installed and am getting it all setup. I'll run LB in a bit and check everything, make sure its good to go on my end.
  16. And people think I have an insane amount of drives. I haven't started moving towards 4-6 bay enclosures. I am really poor. :P http://i.imgur.com/fhQCJF1.png I'm actually working on backing everything up, gonna install Windows 10 tonight.
  17. P2P is completely and 100% legal. I don't care what anyone tries to scare in to you. It's not the act of P2P its what you choose to download. I download tons of free and legal torrents published by the people who own the rights. It's just like emulators and roms. Emulators are not illegal as long as they properly white hat backwards engineer. ROM's and BIOS are also not illegal, AS LONG AS YOU RIP THEM YOURSELF. Otherwise they are illegal. Like I am doing an LP of a game on an Emulator and I freely talk about that its an emulator and there are some glitches because of it, so I couldn't hide it anyways, but I own the PS2 game. Owning it also doesn't necessarily mean that you can just download it and be free, but that's another argument. Sorry... rant. xD Anyways, if I find more Windows 10 stuff, I'll share it here with you guys. If anyone else finds interesting stuff, share it with us.
  18. So for those who have Windows 10 and have a low bandwidth or a cap, you need to turn this setting off ASAP. It turns your PC in to a P2P client and you seed Updates for other users. Some may want to keep this one to help people, but also I know some of you have caps. http://i.imgur.com/phCtDOk.png?1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Tips and tricks. Some of these will make it in to the program. http://winaero.com/blog/category/windows-10/ This is the main program; the left pane is where you click to find the categories and you change the options on the right. There is an option to change the white top bar to what your customization color is. http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.1836 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These two I haven't used, but they seem useful for some of you. This PC Tweaker http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.213 Personalization Panel for Windows 10 http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.1839 Personally, I don't find the need to change too much. The P2P thing for Windows Updates and the title bar were the only "egregious" things to me. I like a lot of the new UI, and the Start Menu is still functionally the same with a new coat of paint. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I came across this, it said it was updated 5 hours ago from me making this post. So it seems to get updated. Lots of cool tips and tricks in this article as well as how to disable some applications like Cortana. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2975289/windows/how-to-cure-windows-10s-worst-headaches.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to remove One Drive integration if you so desire. http://betanews.com/2015/08/24/how-to-completely-remove-onedrive-from-windows-10/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to "remove" Cortana instead of Disable. Disabled she is still running. I don't care about the data she collects, I could care less. However, 3-4 processes taking 30-50mb of ram each at any given time is annoying to me. More annoying than the data. Not that I have a slouch PC, on the contrary, but it can effect others more than me and it can effect gaming like Skyrim for me which has 130+ mods, uses 3GB of my 6GB of ram and 80% of my 4GB VRAM. xD 1. download and run 'takeownership' 2. open folder 'Windows/SystemApps' 3. locate the 'Microsoft.Windows.Cortana###...; folder 4. right click this folder and select 'takeownership' to give you full access to it 4. Rename the folder or delete it This will take care of Cortana until the next MS update that might address Cortana.
  19. Haelstrom said Works for me. I've lurked here for a while, I'm honestly surprised how often the client gets betas. I'm used to programs in this scene taking years to get minor updates, haha. He's alone, not lazy. :P We've also talked about making LB open source in the past and putting it up somewhere like Git. But we pretty much mutually agreed that it wouldn't be a good idea, at least for the time being and a good while more than likely. I try and do a lot to help. Watch the forums, answer as much as possible. I get 20-40 e-mails a day. xD I also worked on the Trailer, Some Photoshop stuff, maybe a shirt in the future. There are others here also who work hard just to make LB better. Our community really has done a lot of cool things and really shaped how LB turned out. I remember in 3.0 Jason and I talking. I was always suggesting random stuff. I believe a Theatre Mode, which is what we called it then, was talked about. Even way back when. A few of us have also gone out of our ways to test emulators and find the best auto-population settings. Speaking of which, I still don't see the emulators in LB that I gave you a while ago Jason. ;)
  20. Most of what you've asked for is actually planned. So just give it time. Remember to all the new forum posters, Jason is the only coder on the project, with a family and job. So sometimes, certain area's can take a while to get updated. If its on the list, its on the list. :P
  21. DOS76 said I was looking around in LaunchBox to look at a Game Gear version of Shining Force when I saw that it had all kind of nonsense letter characters so I wanted to check if I had multiple games and if so which versions. It turned out I had numerous bad dumps and alternates Public Domain games and all the other stuff that comes with getting full sets after cleaning up the folder to remove all of that I was wondering if there is a way I can get LaunchBox to rescan the platform and remove all of the games that I removed from the folder. Short answer is no. However, with how the new images should work, this might be easier than before. Do the remove image cache option. Then delete the platforms games, don't do remove image cache again. Then reimport the folder. As long as the names are the same, apparently it should just import the images that were already downloaded. You still have to go through an import process, and it might not automatically pick the images correctly, but if the images automatically populate themselves it should be a lot faster.
  22. That's assuming you keep images in the libraries section of Windows 7 or 8. Images for myself are kept with my LB install location.
  23. Something I want to point out about my paragraph about essentially an Emulator with a specialized version of Windows 98 and XP. The main reason it hasn't been done very well is because there is no open standard to Windows 98 or XP that is ready for use like there was for DOS. That is how DOSBox exists, otherwise Microsoft would have stopped DOSBox a decade ago. So another reason one doesn't exist in a great form could also be the fear of a lawsuit.
  24. garbanzo said SentaiBrad, I still think all the games you're concerned about are 32-bit. Fury 3 for example - if it used Win32s, then it was a 32-bit game. All the 16-bit Windows games in my collection are along the lines of what came in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack series - Chips Challenge, Tetravex, Jezzball, Ski Free, Kye, etc. So then DOSBox. If you can get it to run with DOSBox then the virtualization software conversation is pointless. Granted, it is a form of virtualization, but its highly specialized. VMware or VirtualBox just have general problems running 3D intensive programs. If its a Windows application with no DOS variant then it has a high propensity to not want to run in one of those virtualized environments. Until someone creates a very similar piece of software like any one of the emulators out there that just happens to be running a very specialized version of Windows 98 or XP, or these software companies really beef up gaming software compatibility then this is going to be an area that is very hard to get to play unless you buy an older PC. Also, I did say that the DirectX problem is most likely a 32bit application issue. It's probable to not be exclusive to 32bit, however the second you need to emulate Windows 98 or XP the level of compatibility immediately drops regardless of what the problem is for any given game. DirectX was just one of a few main problems that I pointed out. Some newer stuff is easier to run in these environments. Like I said in a previous post I got Diablo 2 to run at one point for testing. The more sophisticated a game to get running though the more the performance is going to suffer anyways. So then you drop back down to Windows 95/98 era games then we're back to DirectX incompatibilities, 3D acceleration incompatibilities. Sound drivers, keyboard drivers, mouse drivers. Everything has to be emulated. There are some games that don't care what version of Windows you're on. I got Clock Tower to run last night perfectly fine except for that it was in a small Window. Same with Dino Crisis previously.
