  1. So I posted the thread to the other mods like I said in my post on the other thread just in case, but it does seem more like the image is being cut in half rather than scaled. However, I think the best thing to test this out would be to update the cores in RetroArch, and then pull a fresh RetroArch.cfg from the zip's that you download from their site. This will help eliminate if it's a settings error or a PC error. It might be easier just to pull a completely fresh install all together from the RetroArch site, so if replacing just the RA.cfg doesn't work try that too.
  2. Oh, I have seen this problem. More specifically, it's that half of the image is being cut off. The other way made it sound like the actual size of the game was just changing. Unfortunately, I can't remember what to do to fix this. I do recall it being something related in the video menu... I'll post this to one of the other mods, I am sure one of them has seen this.
  3. You can just type in any name for the platforms as you want. You don't have to pick from the drop down if you don't want. We're looking in to changing up the platforms at some point, and a "Web" platform has been suggested and what we would probably go for.
  4. The Database doesn't dictate what you can and can not import. If the names are off, then metadata and media wont be scraped because they can't be matched, but you can import everything. Do you have any hidden games? When you import, you would use the Windows search to filter out your .cue sheets. It should only import new games and skip over any duplicates unless you tell it to force importing duplicates. As well, even if you delete the games and platform, all the media is still there on your hard drive, and when you re-import the games you don't need to re-download images if you don't want. Either way, if you click on the platform, then click on a game, press Ctrl + A to highlight all of the games, then go to Tools -> Download Metadata and images. If you want to replace everything, then choose the first option from the list of choices. I generally choose the second one to find metadata and media for games that have empty fields. As for the platform being the wrong name, you can name them what ever you want, just make sure to use the Scrape As feature to scrape it as the proper name, otherwise metadata and media wont be found easily, or at all. If you already created the platform, go to Tools -> Manage Platforms, double click on the platform and set the Scrape As here, or during import if you type in a non-default platform name, Scrape As will pop up here too. I don't know what other section you posted in, I am just seeing this one first, but this being in the LaunchBox Troubleshooting or Noobs section would have been totally fine to me. Most of these questions are actually completely unrelated to the Database it's self, so I'm gonna go ahead and move it over.
  5. I'm just Jason's right hand man, yea, he does everything important.
  6. A merged set will include them too, like Derek said above, but your mileage will be best with a split or non-merged rom set. As far as roms in the MAME/roms folder, just stick the MAME rom set in there. Nothing else needs to be in there other than the mame rom set. I could have sworn I said that on some (should have been all) of the MESS tutorials too. It's easiest if your MAME rom set is in there, but you can put it where ever you want, as long as you tell MAME where it is. When you load a non MAME game, even if it is in it's own folder elsewhere, it will know that the BIOS are located in the roms folder because MAME is looking in there by default.
  7. Merged will not work. It needs to be split or non-merged. The roms folder in your MAME folder is exactly where it should go. That's the default location MAME is looking. You can change that setting, to add more locations, but if you put the entire romset in there, that's good.
  8. You need LaunchBox and EmuMovies Premium to download videos from EM from within LB. You can supply it with any video. As long as they go in that proper location Neil pointed out, and they're named after the rom file name or the name of the game inside of LaunchBox, then they should attach automatically.
  9. Shaders don't generally change the resolution. The only thing that does is internal resolution and the scaling options. I would be lost as to why the same core is giving you two different sizes.
  10. I would skip RetroArch for DOS too, and instead use the built in DOSBox. I swapped mine out with DOSBox Daum too, which is a possibility. There are several systems RetroArch isn't great at, DOS I would consider one of them. DOS games don't ever need to be assigned an emulator. They need to be imported as MS-DOS games (there's a specific importer for them), and they get flagged as DOS games and use the included DOSBox. Edit: Otherwise, Ctrl + F turns RetroArch in to fullscreen mode, but you should set it in the options, with the core overrides or in your custom configs. You can also make the window bigger in the settings to instead if you'd like.
  11. Well I don't do any code, that's all @Jason Carr, and the best way for it to be implemented is by creating a request ticket. I am confident it's already been made, so when you click Issues/Requests at the top, search for the ticket and vote on it. If it somehow doesn't exist, then go ahead and create it. Don't forget to vote on your own ticket.
  12. In loo of that, I did have success getting CPC running in Caprice, and it is considered a great emulator.
  13. That seems new to me, so I don't have an exact fix, but I'll try and help you out. Do you have the controller enabled inside of LaunchBox? If so, try disabling it in the options. Also, MAME should be auto-configing the controller when it loads up. So either, leaving your set up controls alone or letting it go it's thing, without ever bringing up the menu, does your controller still give out? In other words, does your controller stop working no matter what after you launch MAME? Edit: Oh, and when you edit MAME inside of LaunchBox, do you have anything in the AHK script tab?
  14. Sweet, glad Derek sorted it out for you! I linked to the Tutorial playlist on the previous screen, but here are specific videos. First will be the 5200 tutorial, but then will be the ColecoVision MESS tutorial I did, where I go through the process on MAME. So watch the second one first (the ColecoVision tutorial), so that way you know what to do, then apply that to the other MESS tutorials. Also, substitute the old MESS / MAME version numbers with the latest versions as well. The third video will be a beginner tutorial in RetroArch just in case you want to give that a watch too.
  15. Yea, the images will automatically pop back in for your games. As long as media is in the proper folder, and named after the rom file or the name of the game in LB, it will automatically be attached.
  16. That seems very... odd. I don't know if it's a setting or an error with RetroArch. If you can show a screenshot of your RetroArch emulator screen in LaunchBox, the first page and the associated platforms page where Atari 7800 is, I would appreciate it. Also, MESS (MAME), isn't too bad. It's very similar to RetroArch actually, but combined it's more confusing than it should be. I did a ton of tutorials on MESS for our channel as well. I switched over to regular MAME (near the end of my MESS tutorials) than a standalone version of MESS because it reduced the amount of steps, but they are still good if you need more help. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6pTDaHeAz-WMcNURVPU-1xLN_TVpT3FB
  17. Well especially if we're on a plane, Wifi may be spotty etc. I don't really consider it antiquated at all, and im not beholden to any outside forces. I have the file I want, I'm good. It's like my 128GB micro SD card being loaded up with music, and that's what we use in the car when we want music. I don't consider it antiquated at all. It's a fairly painless process. With USB3 and USB C transfer speeds, it's not too bad, and most of the time I transfer things with ES File Explorer over FTP protocol wirelessly. I see the irony in that, but when I am at home I'm not worried about wifi, connectivity and data rates.
  18. No, you don't need to test them outside of LaunchBox. There is no easy answer. You just try launching a game, and if it doesn't then there's a few things you can do. Edit the game, change the "setup" path or the main path (temporarily) to the configuration exe, bat or com (they change names between config, setup, or other random things). You run that, set up your options the way you need them (you generally pick the graphical and audio options). From there, re-edit the game, and try choosing the obvious exe's, bat's or com files and try launching the game. Generally speaking, I go for bat's first, but it depends. Usually the exe is shorthand for the game, the first letters of the games name, or sometimes really obvious like start or play. It just really depends. Remember, PC's have very little standards, and then we're talking about mid 80's to 90's PC's with even less standards. So to an extent, it's trial and error. It's really not that daunting, changing the exe's is really fast. You just hit browse then change them. I only worry about it when I actually want to play the game too.
  19. It's currently not possible, easily. Multiple emulator support has been requested before though. You could set up an additional application for this, but you have to do 1 game at a time. Bulk Editing the emulator back and forth is possible, and very easy, but obviously annoying when you want to switch. Otherwise, if it's more on a game to game basis, and depending on the system, using RetroArch's game overrides is a good way to have the games automatically use specific shaders.
  20. That's pretty cool, but if I am on a trip (like when we went to Texas), I loaded up my tablet and phone with stuff. I'd rather not stream from my network. So outside of my Network, I don't need any solutions, but that is still pretty awesome for those who want to.
  21. Atari 5200 is much trickier, and the MESS core in RetroArch is outdated and much more confusing. MESS was integrated in to MAME, and even then picking the MESS stuff in RetroArch takes more steps than it needs. Regular MAME is best, but you'll also need BIOS, which will require finding them online or to just grab a MAME split or non-merged rom pack. So with that said, it was most likely the 7800 you had working, because the 5200 takes many more steps and RetroArch is not the recommended emulator when it comes to anything MESS related. It does work, but much more complicated. That said, can you launch the games just fine outside of LaunchBox? Are your 7800 games launching normally otherwise.
  22. DOS is a bit more complicated then regular roms. If you have an eXoDOS collection, and everything is extracted, and you ran the MS-DOS specific importer (in the import menu, there is a special DOS Item), then you may need to run the configuration / setups, and or pick a new exe, bat or com to load the game from. Sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error. With the eXoDOS too, there are special conf files for some games that will help immensely. I think LB was finding them for me automatically, but if not, you need to edit the game and go to the conf tab to select the games custom conf file. If you found random DOS games online, you wont have the special conf files, but the rest still stands.
  23. What what you showed me, that all looks totally normally to be honest. Even the video taking a second to come in, however, I think you helped answer my questions. If it does load in faster when you weren't recording, and slower when you were, then that means Kodi is fighting your PC for power. Granted, recording is an arduous task on a PC, so that's no surprise. However, the other problems can be explained with that information. I still think Drivers need to be updated fully (know for sure), or it could be your PC. It's really hard to know for sure, so I'm sorry I can never give you a single answer, or even the answer answer.
  24. They changed up the Plex stuff a while ago. The Xbox One app used to require Plex Pass or to give them money, and now it's completely free. Kodi can do streaming over a network (including your phone or tablet), but it's harder to deal with for mobile and a bit hacky feeling over the network. That's what my wife does though. Has Kodi on her PC and has it looking at my PC over the Homegroup (SMB) connection. Plex is easier I think in this regard, but Kodi is capable and not too bad once you understand what you're doing, and I think the UI is much much better.
