  1. Okay let me try to help with a few things Getting the matching rom set while not 100% necessary is the best thing you can do especially if you ROM set is more than a few revisions back. I prefer the MAME stand alone for a few reasons but they depend on some of my setups like in my room I have both a landscape and portrait monitor and the MAME stand alone emulator handles portrait natively where RA requires you to set the parameter of your screen on portrait it displays in a small rectangle across very little of the screen by default also I use MAME to emulate a few consoles like Atari 5200 Colecovision and a few others and the stand alone version is much more friendly than the RA version when it comes to the MESS side of MAME. http://docs.mamedev.org/usingmame/aboutromsets.html This link should explain a lot about the different ROM sets better than I can explain it but I find for myself that the split set is the best one for my needs. That being said the merged set is limited in LB due to LB only having access to the parent zip and not being able to import any clones contained inside an issue that doesn't exist with split and non merged sets.
  2. have you tried the tutorials section in the header of this site there are a lot and I believe a few beginner ones you should watch 1st.
  3. as long as you have your image videos and such folders in tact and your xmls in the data folder you really can't lose all your work. I suggest backing this stuff up somewhere in case your drive ever fails. Go into the update folder in LB and sort it by date modified and run the last update you installed it will overwrite your LB and BB .exe but it won't do anything to any of your folders.
  4. yeah it the extension it is looking for is different in the path that would break it and if unzipping it worked it must have been looking for the extension inside of the zip
  5. the funny thing with that though is if the emulator handles both LB really shouldn't have anything to do with how its handled from that point
  6. yeah I personally don't like mine archived especially for such minuscule sized file so what ever makes you happy just wanted to let you know there are options built in to handle the situation.
  7. to clarify it won't extract them all for you it will temporarily extract them to a folder while you play them.
  8. you can also go into the manage emulators and edit your snes9x and check the box to extract roms and LB will extract the game to a temp file while you play
  9. yeah that name won't work with colem or MAME I don't know about BlueMSX as I've never used it before. MAME will be looking for coleco.zip with two files inside the zip colecoa.rom and 313 10031-4005 73108a.u2 for Colem you would need coleco.rom
  10. Glad I could help you get it straightened out
  11. yeah I have no clue if I set my write config to one it creates an ini for each game I know that the settings in those will override the settings in the MAME.ini but if you don't have those it definitely isn't the issue. Try going to manage emulator in LB and adding -video opengl to the command line for the emulator
  12. that is really weird do you have write set to 1 in the ini file and it makes an individual .ini for each game you play by any chance? On 2nd thought if you have it working right outside of LB then that shouldn't make a difference.
  13. so even with that set to OpenGL it starts the game in d3d?
  14. DOS76

    Retroarch

Its stupid but when you set a controller hotkey you have to set a keyboard hot key I use shift so now for the menu if not using my controller I have to use shift+fn+f1 to get to the menu shift+escape to exit
  15. if you look in the ini file there are heading for sections you want the OSD Video
  16. for colecovision which emulator are you planning on using and I know ColEm and MAME/MESS need the coleco bios
  17. Glad I could help
  18. yeah I prefer to have my OS be on my SSD and use a mechanical to store my stuff
  19. More specifically you want the OSD video options and you want to set the line video to be OpenGL if it already say OpenGL and it is rendering in D3D do you have an other ini files for Horizontal or Vertical or games specific ones that are changing your preference down the line.
  20. I'd suggest going into your MAME.ini and adding OpenGL as the core rendered and see if changes anything.
  21. Just tested Medanfen Saturn core on my 2.4GHz laptop with i5 4120U and Intel graphics and Saturn stutters hard when playing Astal
  22. yeah I must have missed that part well I'm out of ideas then hopefully someone else can help you get it tweaked.
  23. I'm booting up my i5 laptop to see what type of performance I get with Saturn what was the game you are having issues with.
  24. the 2.5 GHz part is concerning it means you couldn't run full bsnes accuracy core for SNES so yeah that may struggle a little with Saturn did the threaded video setting have any effect on the game.
  25. Its both really but when you use it in LB you really only use the emulator part of it.
