  1. Under tools you will see an option for manage platforms when you choose a platform and hit edit you will see options to change folder locations just point the boxart section to where your cart images are.
  2. That is truly strange whatever LaunchBox sees BigBox should be using the same xml and get the same results.
  3. Filtering the results by orientation and control type is a brilliant idea that has so much potential. Even if users wanted to have separate MAME categories in the same LaunchBox ie Arcade: Horizontal, Arcade: Vertical, Arcade: Racing Wheel, gun, spinner trackball and what ever else is in e it could make your MAME very trimmed down and easy to navigate. You could even do like Joystick 0 buttons joystick 1 button. Its a really good idea.
  4. I launch applications from a platform named applications and add the .exe files by using the add button in the bottom corner. I'm not sure if this is really what you were asking.
  5. Came home and found LB crashed with this error message
  6. LaunchBox will have RA preconfigured to look for the snes_next_libretro.dll so you will have to change that line in manage emulators under tools before you can launch the bsnes core.
  7. I feel like your trying to censor my post by shaming me for having an opinion that MESS isn't worth spending time on especially for systems that have other means of emulation and no one is having an emulator war here people are just expressing themselves with an opinion that is obviously contrary to yours.
  8. Ok so the new version of RA sees my config files but any games that use those config files won't launch unless you remove the config command. I can load the config from RA and then use it but it doesn't work with the games command line so maybe RA changed how they launch the config files from the command?
  9. I copied all the folders and files that were suggested in the video which would make me think that even my main config file would be the same as it was before I like the new blue color background they are using in the UI on this version.
  10. I used the Tutorial on upgrading RA but for some reason non of my hot key binds carried over nor did my fullscreen settings I wonder why it isn't working right.
  11. New version of RA is available
  12. Easier is better some times and most of those systems on that list are simple to run in either stand alones or in RA so why anyone would want to spend time to get them working instead of just playing them I won't ever understand. There must be a dozen NES emulators you could set up just by adding the .exe to LB and then the games and just clicking on the game it will load with no settings, no BIOS files and no command line parameters. I could see using MAME/MESS for a system like CD-I because of your lack of choices but to use it for platforms that have multiple choices that are much easier to implement and run with at minimum the same if not better quality is a no brainer to me. RetroArch is amazing but at the same time I don't use it to emulate every system it can. I don't use it for MAME, Saturn (I use it for A.M.O.K. becuase its the only emulator that it works on) PSP or PS1. Also most if not all of these posts are biased by the individual users preferences and I see very little empirical evidence of why anyone should switch away from what they already prefer to use including my own post. I just know that the pros of using other emulators over MAME for every system personally outweighs the cons of using it for that purpose. Good luck with whatever you decide to move forward with.
  13. Hey for future reference it isn't allowed to link ROMs like this or even really talk about going to EP and getting ROMs or going to PD to get the full MAME set we have to be smart about those kind of things. This information is readily available online so much so that we don't have to bother to link it people can find it with minimum effort already. I'm not trying to be the internet police either just letting you know the rules about these things.
  14. Wow that feature is amazing. I'm so blown away by this program and it just keeps getting better and better the more delve into it.
  15. Load Shader Presets thats where the glsl and cg folders are as you save the shaders they will be moved outside of the folders to then you can switch through them or at least that is what I understand. I'm actually going to go test it right now.
  16. MAME is a command line emulator that is why people prefer MAMEUI and others so the program has a gui and is easy to manage with a mouse and a keyboard and not textually. I don't know what your level of computing is but are you comfortable with using the command line in order to set it up or would you be more comfortable with a GUI which will allow you to run the program see it in a window and manipulate its settings from a program. I can use the command line when it is absolutely necessary but would prefer to use a gui if it is available personally but it is up to you.
  17. Yes I believe so under tools the is an option to manage platforms under this section you should see options to move your folders I'm not 100% sure if the videos folder is an option or not.
  18. Yeah the mame_libretro.dll core is fairly new based off of the 170 build of MAME which is fairly up to date from the standalone but I prefer using MAMEUIFX where I can set up all of my settings for vertical games and horizontal games and set my monitors I know you can do this in RetroArch but for some reason in RA it isn't done right. I've had vertical games come up sideways on my landscape monitor but if I send them unrotated to the portrait monitor they come up in cropped down with a small video and tons of black on the top and the bottom instead of looking like it is supposed to. MAMEUIFX just handles this superior to RA so that's why I stay with MAME in this category. Although RA handles your controllers better than MAME.
  19. I have to agree 100% with LordMonkus. Watch the videos on the website and if you run into issues hit us up on the forum and people will definitely get you up and running.
  20. Yeah that machine should be loading up 352 games much faster than that have you checked you disk for any errors lately not that there is a problem but some missing info on a bad sector or 2 may cause the reading of the XML to slow down. Edit: However all of my machines are using a SSD so maybe that is the reason I see superior speeds but for some reason I still don't think that adds up due to the machine and the minuscule amount of games.
  21. There should be a checkbox on on of the forms of the import wizard that allows you to use MAME Metadata if you check that then that form will appear and you can filter everything out. I think this is what you are looking for but was a little unclear at 1st so sorry if you meant something else.
  22. BigBox isn't crashing anymore while navigating through the Atari 2600 jumplist and so far it upgraded on the computers I tried it on without any errors popping up.
  23. I don't know my nephew had no problem finding it by accident last night when he was browsing through my games list.
