  1. Ok was thinking Vista so I could use it with LaunchBox but I consider the XP route.
  2. Yeah that's even better than my suggestions
  3. Scree as long as Vista had SP2 and you play with the UAC's a little there isn't anything wrong with it I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 that originally came with Vista but now runs Windows 10 (very well I might add) I recently installed a 64GB mSATA drive in a 2.5 SATA adapter in a IDE disk drive caddy and kept the HDD. Nice to know I could install Vista as a dual boot on it to play PC games that I couldn't emulate on modern systems and would be lost otherwise. I personally look at what a lot of us do here is like preserving the history of gaming. I will definitely be looking into this.
  4. I just got my latest Windows PC it is the MeeGoPad T02. It is extremely small form factor and cost under $100.00. It has a quad core Atom chip and 2GB of RAM 32Gb of storage Bluetooth, WiFi and comes with a 30 trial of Windows 8.1 (which has hurt it on the Amazon reviews) It is totally able to take advantage of the Windows 10 Insider Preview as I already upgraded mine via an in place upgrade. If I decide to stay in the insider program I can keep using Windows 10 for free. This machine is in no means a power house but it is a good media device that is ultra light weight and portable. I can't wait to use it for an outdoor movie night with my projector and have even thought about trying to install it behind a double din Lilliput monitor in my dash and set it up as a CarPC. I may have to figure out how to remove the case and wire the start to this start on ignition device they sell on MP3Car or run a HDMI cable through to the back and just use the button the computer will probably get better ventilation outside of the dash but it would be nice to be able to totally hide it and use some USB cooling fans to keep it cool. I also threw in a 128GB micro SD that I had bought for my phone but hadn't gotten around to populating or installng
  5. Jason when I installed the update it was already directed to my LaunchBox folder on my E drive. Also installed to two other machines and it was set to the right folder.
  6. Copy your Lauchbox folder and remove the license XML from the copy then run one when you are using it and the other when you are recording or do some video editing and blur the name out like it was a mob snitch on TV
  7. Maddoc did a little more research into auto logon and found a very easy to implement System Internals tool called Auto Logon I haven't set it up to show the frontend yet but I installed it on my WHS2011 install that runs my Plex Media Server and now on restart the computer logs on and Plex starts back up. It would be nice if the people at Plex made some changes so Plex would just run as a service but they seem unwilling to do so. Nice to finally find a work around thanks for the idea.
  8. Installed without any issues on my end
  9. http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Sponsored-Ads-from-uTorrent This is a nice wikihow article on how to remove the sponsored ads form uTorrent or BitTorrent. I found it to be very helpful as the video ads were driving me nuts. Enjoy.
  10. Sorry you got me all supped up with the discussion of the invalid OS's
  11. Ever hear of Microsoft Toolkit it lets you activate many different versions of Windows. Its how I activated my evaluation version of Server 2012 R2 Essentials. Windows reports it as containing a virus but I think that would be in their best interest. I've never ran into an issues
  12. Agree with the Alphabetic jumping 100%
  13. My last BIOS time was 21.4 seconds (never knew that was listed in the Task Managers startup tab) It really wasn't that long until BigBox started was just trying to see if I could make it seamless is all not really a big deal. As for Windows 10 I upgraded most of mine from valid licenses but also did a few dual boots and clean installs My OS crapped out on a laptop and a tablet and I just reinstalled 10 instead of my backups from my Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials machine. Now I have the option to make them official or stay in the Windows Insider program with them. I am probably going to just stay in the insiders program even though I have valid licenses for all of them. I just bought a MeeGoPad computer stick today that actually ships with a trial license of Windows 8.1 plan on upgrading to free Windows 10 as soon as I get it in my hands.
  14. Windows 10 on all my machines I have a few startup items most of them with low impact a few with High (Actual Windows Manager, BitTorrent, OneDrive and Steam are the biggest offenders along with BigBox now)
  15. I have already set it to run at startup I am just not satisfied with how slowly it takes to start thats why I thought that the screenshot Idea was so good it will look like it is on screen until it actually loads.
  16. Maddoc1007 that is very interesting but if I choose to auto logon won't it mess with my ability to network? Most of my games are stored on my Windows Home Server and if I couldn't access the shared media it could cause havoc. As for the build nothing to indepth just some pics here and there.
  17. Argh! I wish I would have asked before I went to work it was a total mind numbing experience
  18. Martin that is actually a very simple and slick solution to the problem. Quite brilliant. Hopefully you will be documenting your arcade cabinet build here on the forum. I'm interested to see how it comes out.
  19. I did end up editing the XML file I just had to edit 1068 entries are you saying your way would have changed them all at once or are you just explaining how to change XML entries in general.
  20. BigBox takes a little while to start up I was hoping to somehow have it seemless like Windows didn't even exist but that probably won't possible.
  21. I meant folder associated with LaunchBox in the last post
  22. I wish you could bulk edit game paths. I realized last night that I had moved the folder to my NES games that I had associated with Plex. I didn't want to delete them and re-add them since I had spent hours getting images and linking games that weren't found due to small naming issues. Instead I ended up changing the XML entries for 1068 games while I watched/listened to 8 episodes of Night Court on Plex. (Dual monitor setup)
  23. I like the idea of BigBox as a Arcade Frontend can you have Windows have it be the first thing you see when the computer starts up.
  24. Jason I switched from LaunchBox to BigBox and launched BigBox on its own and neither offered me the option to upgrade I am currently on 5.0-beta-22
