You can check the retroarch.cfg, look for the line: video_shader = If it just has a pair of quotes after it with nothing in between there is no shader being loaded through that. Also, it's not that it can't use shaders at all it's just that an incompatible shader could cause it to crash.

Not sure why it wouldn't be working for you other than maybe you got the Vulkan driver loaded for the video and you have a shader trying to load or something. I use the Mupen64 core without issue.

Personal preference but this thing is built for 2D fighting games and it is glorious at it. -

Yeah I use my Hori FC4, no way in hell I could ever use an analog stick in replacement of a good d-pad, that shit just ain't natural. -

Load up a core and game, open the Quick Menu > Shaders > Load Shader Preset and then browse through the shaders_cg and shaders_glsl folders and try the different presets. The ones you wanna stick to are the ones that with a p like cgp or glslp, if you do too far in you will find the cg and glsl ones which are the raw shader files which are for combining your own shader files, more advanced stuff. If you have an Nvidia graphics card the CG shaders will work for you but if you are using an on board graphics or AMD graphics card stick to the GLSL ones. -

That's just a shader, nothing special at all. \handheld\console-border\gba-4x or 5x depending on the size you want for your display. Quick Menu > Save Core Overrides Edit: Use the shader or the 16:9 aspect, not both. -

You can set the aspect ratio to 16:9 and stretch it to full screen, it will distort a little but no where nearly as bad as a 4:3 games. Also you can use bezels or a GBA border shader in the handheld folder of the shaders. -

Games load perfectly fine using mGBA in RA using LB, you have to have something wrong in LB like a typo in your command line parameter or your platform name doesn't match up with the platform in the Associated Platforms. Nintendo Game Boy Advance -L "cores\mgba_libretro.dll" -
Arkanoid Joystick Too Fast. How Do I Slow It Down?
Lordmonkus replied to C64Crazy's topic in Emulation
I am assuming you are wanting to use the d-pad so that is what I have toyed around with here. Though if you want to use the analog stick it should still be the same but with the analog stick. When you load the game press the Tab key on your keyboard and then go to Input (This Machine) and set it like this: Dial Analog set to none and the Dial Analog Dec and Inc to the directions on your controllers d-pad. If you are using the analog stick you may want to set the Dial Analog to your X Axis as it is by default and adjust the sensitivity. Then back out one menu level and go into Analog Controls and adjust the Dial Digital Speed to something that feels good for you. 15 is the default which feels a little slow, I set mine to 30 and it felt pretty good but you will want to play around with the numbers to find a setting you like. -

Adjust it to your liking in the controller settings in Mame. Though keep in mind it won't ever be perfect. -
Try both FBA cores, the one with the year 2012 in its name and the one without. The one that will work best will depend on the rom set you are using.

My honest opinion is to get the best you are willing to spend the money on. The newer the generation and the higher the clock speed the better along with instructions per clock cycle. I always tell people that more CPU power does not go to waste with emulation. With more CPU power using Retroarch you can tune the settings to reduce input lag by boosting the frame delay setting and this requires more CPU power the higher you push it.

I believe Jason uses an internal database file based on the (i think 174 mame), it does need to be updated though and is planned to be done sometime soon.

Yeah, I got no problems with people asking questions in old threads. Sometimes people use Google to try and find a solution to a problem and the old thread can be the only one that shows up based on their search. So why not answer it for them and the anyone else who may stumble across the thread later on.

Here is a pic of the Mame import filter in Launchbox: Just using that default it will import approx 2800 games which is still a lot but better than the 10,000+ it would be if you imported every single file.

You can set your buttons in the main settings input menu but you are setting a global setting which may or may not work the way you want in each core. I would suggest leaving the main setting one alone all together and then load up each core and a game and setting your controls on a per core basis and save a core over ride for it, that's what I do with my Hori Fight Commander. This is for setting your controller to a 3 button or 6 button Genesis, there is a Mode button in the Genesis controller settings which is a toggle between 3 and 6 button, some games won't work if this is set incorrect, it was the same on real hardware as well.

Is that in the main settings or the quick menu when you have the core and game loaded ?

In the main RA controller setup without any cores loaded up the button labeling represents an SNES controller layout but with shoulder buttons and analog sticks like an Xbox controller. If you load a core however and go into the controller settings for the core the inputs will be labeled as if they are the controller of the console being emulated. Here is a screenshot of the Genesis controller window with the Genesis core loaded. As you see, the left hand side is the Genesis buttons, the right hand side has the buttons on my actual controller which is a PS3 controller so it has PS button labels and then in the brackets its the keyboard buttons that do the same function.

Without any first hand experience with that CPU my guess is that it isn't quite fast enough for PS2 emulation but you should be fine up to the N64. You would also run into issues with Saturn and SNES with the more accurate emulators for those systems (Higan/BSnes and Mednafen), Snes9x will be perfectly fine with it and maybe you could get away with SSF for Saturn. Playstation with Mednafen or Retroarch may run ok on it but if it doesn't ePSXe would be fine. A video card and rom upgrade unfortunately won't help you with emulator performance because it is far more CPU dependent. Graphics cards do help when you start getting into things like shaders and upping the internal resolution of the 3D systems like N64.
