    Because they aren't separated out.

The 194 set is up on pleasuredome.

Yeah Launchbox will ignore the bios so don't worry about that. Probably a silly question but you haven't extracted each game rom zip file by any chance have you ? Because you shouldn't do that, it will make it not work, FBA and Mame requires each games roms be zipped in the name they came as.

Mame and NeoGeo functions exactly like any other Mame rom.

WinKawaks is horribly outdated and a pain in the ass to use.

It can be tricky but not impossible, otherwise no one would have them My best suggestion is to get a new Mame set from the pleasuredome since they always have up to Mame sets and you don't need to maintain a share ratio for them. Mame 194 just got released so it might be a good time to do it. Yes, it is illegal and we cannot post links.

NeoGeo bios stay in the folder with the roms, putting them in the \retroarch\system folder does nothing.

Loading the neogeo.zip bios file will give you nothing, it's just a bios file. But if your games aren't loading you most likely have an incompatible set or roms for the core being used. Unfortunately there is no easy answer to your problem beyond sourcing a new set of up to date roms, my suggestion is to use Mame and rom set for the version of Mame you are using. Mame contains all of the NeoGeo games and runs them just as well if not better (though both are pretty much 100% at this point).

Try using the FBA core that has no year in the name. What do you mean by this exactly ? Bios aren't something you load.

Are you trying to load your games using the Mame or FBA core ? And what version ? Also just to confirm, are you trying to load your games outside of Launchbox through Retroarch on it's own ? My NeoGeo rom set is from an older FBA collection I got from the emuparadise forums.

Each games zip file will have different files inside of them, they are the different roms and they work differently than normal console roms where it is just a single file. The emulator requires each game to be in its own self contained zip file. Here is an example screenshot of my NeoGeo roms folder:Since you mention your games won't load in Retroarch outside of Launchbox make sure you have a neogeo.zip file in amongst your rom files, this is the bios and it has to be in the same location as your roms.Inside that file should be a bunch of files that should look similar (but may slightly differ) to this. There are also a couple of different emulators that supports the NeoGeo roms, Mame and FBA. There are also different versions of those cores so try the different ones out because your rom versions may not be compatible with whatever core you are trying to use depending on when and where you obtained them.
  12. Well we do have a discord channel for people to do this with already. I know it's not the same thing but it does exist and can serve the same purpose. Maybe Jason can somehow integrate discord into Launchbox since it does work in the web browser as well as the stand alone client.
  13. Navigate to your Mame installation folder using the Windows file manager, you want the folder where the Mame64.exe is located. While holding the shift button right click anywhere in the window but preferably an empty space as to not be clicking on anything. There should be an "Open Command Prompt Here" or something similar to that. This should open a command line window with you already in that directory, all you have to do now is type in: mame64.exe -cc This will generate the mame.ini file in the main Mame folder where the executable is, for some strange reason when Mame is launched through Launchbox with the mame.ini file in the \ini folder it causes problems. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask here or on discord https://discord.gg/X3Cwsyw we are here to help you out.
  14. Oooh, now that is sexy. I know I and many others probably turn off the welcome screens but if you are planning (or this new one can already do it) to have news and update info in it that would be awesome. Something like a "Hey here's a notice of an issue and temporary fix" for example would be really awesome.
  15. Perhaps if you gave me / us more details on where you encountered the problem we could help you out.
  16. Scratch everything I said in my previous post, it was wrong. That should learn me not to post when I just wake up and my brain isn't working fully and I have not fully tested everything I thought was true. You can in fact have Mame auto load a save state and retain the hi score because the hi score is not tied to the save state at all. The first thing you need to do is to tell Mame to enable hi scores, this is done in the plugin.ini, set hiscore to 1, for whatever reason the Mame devs decided that it should be off by default. Now you will need to set a save state where you want the game to load at, presumably after all the boot junk at the title screen. How this is done will change a little bit depending on which version of Mame you are using. On a 186 install of Mame you press Shift + F7 first and then a number 0-9 to pick which save state position you wanted to save it at. With my 192 build I had to press Shift + F7 and then again a 2nd time which brings up a menu asking you what spot you wanted to save it at, I chose slot 0 in this case so I pressed 0 when it asked. Now that the save state is set we want it to auto load when the game starts in Launchbox. All we need to do is add the command line parameter: -state 0 Of course change out the 0 for whatever slot you used above when making the default save state. You can now auto load past the initial boot sequence of the game with hi scores in tact. Of course though you will have to create save states for each game individually which is time consuming but such is life. I still recommend setting up a fast forward button on your controller which you can do in Mames UI, Insert is the default keyboard key.
  17. As far as I know you can only have hi scores or save states, not both. You have to enable hi scores in plugin.ini, set hiscore to 1. If you are loading save states on load as a method to bypass the sometimes long boot time of a game you are resetting the game to that point in time before the hi score was obtained. The only potential ways around this that I can think of (there may be others I am unaware of) is to either not load a save state when you load a game or to generate a new save state after obtaining a new hi score before you close the game. Personally I would get rid of the loading of a save state when you start a game and just bind a fast forward button in Mame which is by default the Insert key. Maybe someone has a better method for solving this problem.
  18. It was posted in the Retroarch Discord channel.
  19. Updated the original post to add an image to illustrate the differences between merged, non merged and split Mame rom sets.
  20. I would agree that an option to generate a playlist based on games that have no playlist associated to it would be a nice thing to have.
  21. yes, broken would imply it didn't work at all or had severe problems.
  22. Yeah I was never able to get it work properly to map my controllers. I just gave it a try again for shits and giggles and it will detect the face buttons on my 360 controller but it won't detect the d-pad or analog stick functions.
  23. No, it's not broken, maybe it do with a little more polish but that doesn't make it anything close to broken.
  24. The bulk edit tool is one of the few features of Launchbox that is somewhat hidden if you don't know it's there.
