The bios go in the \retroarch\system folder and they have to be named correctly (scph1001.bin), case matters and they have to match the md5 checksum. You can verify that the bios are correct and detected by loading the core and then checking the information for that core. Also you can check the file types accepted by the core but generally you want .cue + .bin format, .iso files generally won't work.

Make sure your CPU Overclocking is set to 1x. If that doesn't solve it try reinstalling the visual c++ runtime library here http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/1/1/1116b75a-9ec3-481a-a3c8-1777b5381140/vcredist_x86.exe

Try the built in HLE bios and point it at your SCPH1001.BIN just to make sure it knows where to look for it.

Nope, never have and never will. I learned that a long time ago.

2 Ghz is pretty slow for DS and PS1 emulation to begin with using Retroarch so that would be my first guess as to the problem. I don't know if the stand alone version of Demume would be better for you or not but for PS1 try out ePSXe 2.05, I've run that on a 1.5 GHz system just fine. 512 is way to high and you shouldn't have to go above 64. This will increase system requirements.

Thanks, I keep things on a pretty tight leash around here in terms of people acting like children and that rubs some people the wrong way sometimes.

It was stuff in another thread which he escalated in separate threads cause he was pissed at me.

Yes, this is the most important for emulation.

Version 7.12 - Released October 27, 2017 - New Premium Feature: Big Box Startup videos have been overhauled to be run from within Big Box instead of launching VLC directly; videos will now automatically run for the full length of the video unless skipped with a key or button press - New Premium Feature: Big Box now supports random startup videos as well; simply create a LaunchBox\Videos\Startup folder and drop all videos to be randomized inside - New Premium Feature: Different themes for each platform can now be used in Big Box; simply map a key or controller button to the new "Switch Theme" item under Options > Keyboard Mappings or Options > Controller Buttons - New Feature: Media items and Windows shortcuts can now be imported more easily using the new "None of the Above" import type in the import games wizard. Simply drag media files or Windows shortcuts over to LaunchBox and select "None of the Above" when choosing the type of files you are importing. - Improvement: Big Box memory footprint significantly reduced (RAM usage) - Improvement: Big Box performance improvements, specifically with transition animations between selecting games or platforms - Improvement: Big Box Startup videos will now always start up on the monitor selected as the primary monitor - Improvement: Checkboxes on the Import and Download Metadata and Media wizards now remember their settings for each import/run (where relevant). Selected image types are also remembered. - Improvement: The import wizard now prefills the platform field with the currently selected platform in LaunchBox - Improvement: Upgraded once again to the .NET Framework 4.7 (had previously reverted due to some minor end user issues with .NET 4.7). Hopefully all issues are ironed out by now; if necessary, you will be prompted to install the latest .NET Framework when upgrading. - Improvement: Additional Applications in Big Box have now been moved into a sub-menu so that the names are not cut off and they don't clutter up the game details menu - Improvement: Due to memory limitations and the possibility for out of memory errors, CoverFlow image quality in Big Box is limited to a max of Medium on systems with 8 gigs of RAM or less - Fixed: Additional apps were sometimes showing out of order; they should now always be sorted alphabetically in both LaunchBox and Big Box - Fixed: Refreshing platform wheel images in Big Box was not working in some cases - Fixed: Rare NullReferenceException could occur in LaunchBox while populating the game details sidebar values

Yeah it's definitely easier to go with Smokemonsters pre-done packs and then if needed do your own patching if there's one that he hasn't done and uploaded.
-
Some of the patches are very straight forward but occasionally you get one where the rom has to be expanded to a larger size first. Not exactly difficult but something to check the instructions for if you need to do that or not.
-
There are completely done packages but of course I cannot link to where they are but they on the forums of a certain paradise and the user Smokemonster uploads them.
-
There's some Soundcloud tracks at the link above which look to be a preview of what they are going to use.
-
I think you're good for a little while on new games unless something pops up unexpectedly. Demon's Crest looks to be in the works but no clue on when it will be done and released. The audio tracks seem to be ready getting worked on but the rom hack itself needs to be done and that's the time consuming part. Definitely looking forward to this one because this game is awesome. https://www.zeldix.net/t1510-pcm-pack-demon-s-crest-demon-s-blazon

Ok I trust you but I am going add an additional warning / disclaimer to the first post for this just to cover the sites ass for any problems anyone downloading may encounter. -

Is there a reason these files are being hosted on an external site and not here ? -

Are you sure ? Because I just tried downloading this and just clicking the link alone going to the download page my web browser spit out a giant red warning page. It's one thing to have the downloaded file being falsely flagged but having the website you linked to being flagged by Google is another. -
Ram usage on my 2 gig system is just over 400 megs, 417 to be exact when I looked at though I am sure it varies. There certainly was some more slowdown and missing boxart while caching it in on the larger libraries like the Genesis and SNES though, those are the only systems I have full game libraries for on this system. I certainly wouldn't expect full coverflow view to function well on this system with its specs and I would never use it myself but the ram usage is kept low enough. The other coverflow views with game details using the default theme function much better though and are certainly usable on this hunk of junk.
-
I'd say it's noticeable on a PC monitor sitting 1-2 feet away from it but on a TV at a distance of 6-8 feet not so much. I can say right now sitting here watching it scroll though the games it's flipping through the box art with very few hiccups at all. It did kinda chug for a moment when switching systems but it was only for a few seconds and it smoothed right out.
-
With 2 gigs of ram you gotta really tighten things up, lol.
-
From testing in the past going lower than medium quality made no difference in performance on my toaster of an HTPC and the visual difference between medium and highest quality was not noticeable at all.
-
No videos at all. The system only has a 160 gig hard drive in it so its kept fairly streamlined.
-
Ok I Just let Attract Mode run for 15 minutes using the text list view and ram usage is under 300 megs @ 291 to be exact. I will now switch to cover flow view and let it run again.
